Dreams of Spring...

Today is like a breath of spring after an arctic freeze
which has me thinking lovely drinks and sunny days by the pool
 which explains the painting above
admittedly calling the imminent arrival of spring
may be a bit premature as it is only the first of July
but after a week of disgustingly cold temperatures
well awful for us... some of you would probably see them as a nice day
the waft of warmth is like a heavenly reminder that spring will indeed return

I also completed the test print for this lino block
I am thinking it is close... a bit of tidying up around the spout
and then some general neatening  up and she will be ready to go
I want to try doing a two tones print and having the steam different colours to the pot
it may not work but I know I will have fun trying it
I am loving the lino and have also been doing lots of filming for the upcoming class
which has been mildly traumatic
mainly because Phants has been cameraman
which has led to snorts and heckling from the peanut gallery
and giggles at how many unflattering camera shots she can manage
plus bloody Barry the studio cat thinks it is hilarious to walk through every second shot
he is a total camera tart and sniffs at the lens and eyeballs it big time
but mostly he just likes to walk in and sit in the middle of whatever it is I am trying to do
it is taking quite a while to get through the filming with such distractions

The rest of the week has been the normal madhouse
made messier by half assembled furniture
left abandoned when ikea instructions proved impenetrable
not to mention we visited ikea to pick up more stuff last night and Sinus spent half the time pushing the trolley thing then jumping on and riding it like a toddler
how he didn't break his neck I have no clue
mind you I was sorely tempted when he suggested I hop on the front for a ride
can you imagine two middle aged muppets surfing on trolleys in the ikea warehouse section
I do believe we would have done it with style
but I figured one of us should stay safe so I could drive the other to the hospital when they came a cropper!

Also our washing machine has decided it wants to make this weirder than normal sound during the rinse cycle...I truly think it believes it is a kettle in a former life

a delivery was left for us while we were out walking and there was a random glove left with it
just one glove... that is weird right?

Barry has taken to sitting upright on the sofa like a person
he sort of half reclines back on a pillow
but definitely like a person and not a cat
I had a feeling he is only going to get stranger too

happily though in between all of that I have had time to paint some more cuppas
I managed some illustration work
and even painted up a sneaky drink illustration or two
all round a good week I would say

happy painting all...xx

Stop wishing our summer, such as it is, away, please!! Yes, I can well imagine that your freezing winter temperatures are pretty much a lovely summer's day for us!! We did have some amazing weather last month and hopes got raised that we might actually have a real summer season this year. Alas, it seems to have reverted to the usual, sunny spells with sudden torrential downpours and certainly not warm enough to wear short sleeves! Hey ho. That mixologist bottle looks beautiful - please tell me what it is (and that it isn't just an Aussie concoction!)
I love how Barry has settled into your lives. He's adorable lying flat out like that and clearly trusts you implicitly exposing his tummy to you that way!

Gaaaagh! I wish we could swap your winter for our summer because I'm quite sure it would be warmer! We've had nothing but rain here throughout June, with highs of 17 degrees... yes, you heard me! 17 degrees! It is PANTS!!! But at least we can find some sunshine on your blog. It's always a breath of fresh air to pop to Australia... even if only for a fgew minutes via a keyboard! :0)

I am in awe of your ability to paint those gorgeous cups, Trace. It sounds like your household may be over the sniffles now. I do hope so. Hope your weekend is wonderful.

I never pictured Arctic cold in Australia, but I guess it does happen. Can't wait to see what the lino class is all about, and want to see the kitty walking through all the shots. have a spring like weekend I hope. :) Erika

You will probably hate me for saying it but I LOVE our Brissie winters...they're just never long enough for me. hehe Maybe it's the Scottish/Irish blood running through my veins. hehe That said, I do like spring but I hate our hot and very humid summer months. We don't have air-con...say no more. :(

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post, Trace! Hilarious! I laughed out loud when I got to the paragraph about Barry being a camera tart.

I love your art pics too! Your lino cut is looking pretty awesome. I'm so glad we get life-time access to your classes because I'm terrible at keeping up. I will definitely be signing up for your upcoming class. :)

Have a great weekend! xx

Oh my goodness, I am jealous at your weather. Here in Northern California we missed Spring. Went from cold temperatures to now in the 100's. It's been like this for the last few years. Today was extremely hot! I love your cuppas as always and your story of your IKEA adventures. Hopefully next time you will jump onto the other side and ride along. You are never too old to be young and silly! Have a great week. Hugs, Rasz

Studio Cat! Sounds like he fits right in😄.Ha, who knew cats could be so funny! Until one adopted us 2 years ago, I had no time for cats. But now we are so entertained... not to mention that we are gifted half eaten lizards and squirrels daily. Bird and bunny gifts are traumatic... but thankfully few and far in between. Your colors are lovely as usual - always brings a smile.

Beautiful work Tracey can't wait to see the two tone print...I bet it will be lovely in many two tone combinations! Barry seems like a bit of a brat at time...I think he may have a namesake or two of the same personality! Happy creating and so good to see your cuppas featured this week!

Hugs Giggles

Amusing, hectic and busy week. We have a whole collection of stuff workmen have left behind, some that are quite useful. Lve your cuppas and (yum) the wine glass.

It's hot here--probably only warm to you--in the 80s F.
You have been having a blast with the carvings. Filming is more difficult than people think--especially with interruptions from the peanut gallery and curious cats--LOL!
Love the watercolors, of course. Have a super week. :)

Cheers my friend:-) Hope Barry stops interrupting your work. Doesn't he know you are such a fine artist? Congrats on hitting the random select for PPF. It was great to see you there.
