A Great Week...

I have had the best week

I found an awesome bunch of sugar bananas which were screaming to be painted
one of which happened to have a weird knob on the end
like it is giving the world a little dose of banana naughty finger
it is important to find joy in the little things isn't it...
Years ago I saw this awesome painting of a hand of bananas from this sort of angle
and I have been wanting to do something along those lines ever since
this week I managed to achieve that
I only wish I had the original sketch that inspired it so I could credit it...
I hate not being able to do that...

Plus I have fitted in all sorts of little sketches between illustration jobs
and hours spent at the computer
It is no small miracle that my brain hasn't exploded despite spending every spare minute
to get my Delicious Paint online class up and running by my deadline of the 8th March
and yes it is a self imposed deadline, but if I start letting myself off from these things then it leads to a vortex of procrastination, indecision and despair... so 8th of March is D day

The great joy of running it again is that I can revamp, refresh and redo bits
and while that is a bit of a slightly slippery slope
and has added quite a bit of time to the preparation
I am loving using CourseCraft to set it up, and I must admit it feels a bit more like me with the additions so I am really happy with how it is shaping up and it is very cool to create it
I will be skating close to the wire to hit that date
but I love the smell of burning brain cells in the evening

I even think I may have worked out a way for alumni to be able to be able to rejoin
so they can access the new content...just a kink or two to work out there
but I don't need all of my brain cells right

Another positive is that Barry the cat is settling in nicely
and in a magnificent turn up for the books
I found a teeny tiny shark costume
I think it is for a tiny dog but I am hoping I can convince Barry to wear it
then I need to make a deal with either my mother or my friend Ange
who both have Roomba vacuum thingies
so I can recreate what is possibly the greatest internet video of all time
I feel mildly nervous that so many good things are happening
but just the thought that we may be able to get him into a shark costume and onto a roomba is enough to make me skip through the days

And in a final snippet of joy I found a secret stash of raw chocolate
which I had completely forgotten about
This is shaping up to be an amazing week!!!!
happy painting all...xx

and I will be sending out a newsletter as soon as the classroom opens so sign up using the widget on the sidebar if you want to know as soon as those doors answer

Oh those candles! I received on as a present from a friend in NYC. It had this mysterious, almost incense-y smell. Loved. Very nice images--love your style. xo

Lovely illustrations as usual, Trace, especially that bunch of bananas with the naughty knob. I'd really love to see a video of you trying to get the shark costume onto Barry. Hope you have plenty of band-aids to cover those scratches!

I'm amazed, thrilled and in awe of you if you're actually gonna let past members of delicious paint have access to the new content, you totally rock. I won't hold you to it though, I know computers suck sometimes so if it's too undoable I know we'll all understand. Happy clapping ensues that you're week was awesome. Mine's shaping up to rock too, I'm finally painting again! Things are looking up, I'll get an email to you in a week, we'll catch up. We'll totally need video of that cat/shark/roomba thing, that's possible right?? Who wouldn't want to go vital, just tell Barry that, I'm sure he'll cooperate. :o)

Lovely Tracey, you almost had me spill my morning coffee by telling this fun stuff about Barry, the cat. Lovely also if you can get us oldies connected to the new fresh class.

I'm lost for words... which is a phenomenon in itself, because this post is full of awesome things. Those bananas are incredibly gorgeous.
I love all of the illustrations and the news of your launch is so exciting.
I've also seen that video of the shark/cat. It was hilarious, so I'm routing for Barry to have a go. I'm chuckling just thinking about it.
I hope you carry on having good times my friend. Loved this post! xx

I LOVE the idea of Bazza in a shark costume! Are you going to put him in the bath for the video?? Or would that be classed of kitty abuse?? Do cats even swim??? Anyway, having a banana give me the finger is not how I expected to start my morning, so thank you for that! It did make me chuckle - which I never fail to do when I visit! I love your paintings - all of them!! :0)

Mitchell and I shared this morning and his comment is that it is the bugger-off banana! He has broken into dance at this silliness... How did I miss that you are redoing the class? Am I asleep?

Those bananas look so sweet and delicious and they aren't giving the finger to me :D

Your art has so much air and light, it lifts me up!

Hello Tracey.
Your naughty banana is such fun, I'll have to look out for those. I like that you kept the image of a banana bunch in your head for so long before you got round to painting it. So many things to paint, so little time.
I hesitate to say "lovely colours" but as it is not the only thing I say I think that is alright, your colours are alight.
Good luck with the new class, that is a lot of work. Have fun too.

Sounds like you've had a wonderful week! So happy for you. And those bananas are probably my favorite by you so far! That yellow just makes me happy. And the angle of the bananas. And that little finger too. ;) Good for you for setting 'self imposed' dates! That's how things get done, baby! Have a great weekend Tracey. xx

OMG! I couldn't stifle my laugh when I read your part about the banana naughty finger. hehe Are sugar bananas the same as 'lady fingers'? Delicious! I used to love Lady Finger bananas when I was a kid. I haven't tried them in years.

I adore your art, Tracey....so inspiring! I'm excited at the possibility that those who took your previous course may be able to have access to your revamped content. Life got in the way of me being able to complete your course but I'm getting back on track.

Glad to hear Barry is settling in nicely. :)

I'm not sure if I'm signed up to your newsletter or not so I'll sign up again, just in case.

Have a lovely week! xx

Wonderful rich looking painting of bananas, Trace. And thanks for that super video of improving watercolors. I feel like you were speaking directly to me about the wishy washy colors. I will try your idea of the deeper colors. I already use the watercolor pencil and try to leave white.
