Holiday wrap up... and a new car

Meet my new car
which actually looks rather a lot better than this sketch
but cars are bloody hard to draw
 like weirdly difficult and challenging
made harder by the fact that I really missed my paynes grey paint while I was away
so I launched in happily using my favourite colour with abandon and it is way to dark
my car is a lovely charcoal grey and this is much darker and bluer, though considering I  also drew a flat tyre and a wonky front end the colour is probably not that bad
it was kind of fun though so I will probably give it another shot at some stage
after all I am seriously in love with this car
which is a surprise as I haven't really ever called myself a car person, but it is pretty  fabulous I have to say

We got to take the new car to the beach
where it behaved itself beautifully and delivered us everywhere in comfort and style
It was an amazing two weeks
like seriously awesome
walks and swims were the order of the day
closely followed by copious amounts of reading and catching up and lazing around
some gallery visits, some gazing at our navels and contemplating the world
Plus Sinus climbed a mountain
and a real one, not some glorified hill
well it is a small mountain but hey he did it
and was only overtaken by about 50 retirees on the climb
so huge kudos to my mountain man

the rest of the time was a haze of laughter, haphazard meals, playing chicken with the late summer rain, and trying to solve the mysteries of the resilience of sand and its ability to magically inhabit every orifice and space known to man.

Coming home has been a whole other animal though
mildly depressing to face the mountain of work and even bigger mountain of washing
but being greeted by Barry the cat was quite lovely
he was wonderfully looked after by very special friends
but on arriving home he launched himself at Phantom like she was the messiah
then greeted Sinus and I with mild enthusiasm
and has been doing a great impression of velcro ever since

So I am finding my feet with these quick sketches
and getting excited about all that is ahead in the next month of two
I just can't wait for it all to get started
happy painting all...xx

PS here is the link to last week's post  which included a link to my latest painting demo
in case you missed it
turns out me trying to post via an ipad is beyond my tech abilities lol

As I read this to C-Granny she yelled at you for teasing her with a PAINTING of a car but no details of what KIND it is. Hehehe. I'm loving the painting though, I think you did great, although I have to admit I did get the impression the car was black. lol. Best thing was Barry doing an impression of velcro. Beautifully descriptive and I'm so happy for Phoebe and you guys to have found him. Keep your head above water with all that work. Can't wait to see what you're gonna be up to. :o)

14 days are so quick done, aren't they? I like your car even if it has a flat tire. Good luck with the next two months, whatever it is you are up to, and by the way, happy to hear that velcro didn't abandoned you while gone on vacation.

Lovely new car - is it a Nissan Juke? Looks like a big beastie which I love the idea of driving but don't think I'll ever manage to drive anything bigger than my Fiat 500!!

Your holiday sounds wonderful - the perfect relaxation break away from it all. It is far away from where you live as I always imagine living in Australia you would be close to beaches every day? (Unless you're in the bush obvs!)

I love that Barry was so delighted to see you - cats can huff when you've been away and left them for a while although my Lily never does either - she's always delighted to cuddle up again! Cats are awesome!

Ooh... loving your plush new car! I've never tried to draw one before. And of course I am bound to 'extra-specially' like the sketch of the Flora Tea! I once climbed Ben Nevis... I got all the way to the top and felt utterly knackered, but a real sense of 'thank God that's over'... Only to find that going down was actually harder than going up!!! :0)

Oh that car is some smooth panther!

Vrrmmm! Your new car looks gorgeous Trace,
I'm not normally into cars and tend to describe them only by their colour and not their make, engine capacity of whatever. Does it have a name yet?
Wonderful to see your holiday snaps and to imagine all that wonderful down time... well except for Mountain Man. What a hero!
Now perhaps he can learn to tackle the mountain of laundry? ;D
I also think I like the name 'velcro'... I can imagine what he's like. Stuck like glue, bless. It would be a lovely welcome home.
Can't wait to see what you'll be getting up to back in the studio.
Have a wonderful weekend first xoxo

Sand is quite magical that way. I still have some that shakes out of old shells from my childhood. And now you know I still have old shells from my childhood. You are my favorite person to visit via blog. Now if we were just around the corner for a cuppa...

Glad you had a great the car illustration... don't point out your one notices them... it just looked like a sharp turn of the wheel!! Pretty sure my bestie has the exact same car...I have something similar in a different brand... I still love mine...nothing like a new car that's for sure!! Love black cars too... I know you said charcoal...but it looks black from my end!! Enjoy!!

Ooohhhh, you captured some boy-eyes with your new car! Their comment was:"Cool car! It's probably a...." (Sorry, I cannot remember what kind of cool or what kind of car they thought is was, for to me a car is either cute or not.Yes, yours passed as cute. That matters, right?)

You did a FABULOUS job on that car!! I think they are SOOOOO hard to paint! They often give me fits when I'm out in the landscape painting a street scene.......I like to omit them!! Happy PPF!!

Cars ARE hard to draw! And hard to choose when you are getting a new one. Your choice looks great! Enjoy the ride--great drawing. xo

Love it! The only time I drew my car was when I got a new one and on completion, it looked like I sat on it. I gave up. Yours looks quite racy.
