What Shoe Been Up To?

So what shoe been up to??? Outside of making up lame puns, I have been busy bouncing around like a mad thing with some illustration projects, some organising in the studio and endless errands, but I have been happy doing it as I have new studio shoes... For years now I have been wearing my trusty red studio shoes... and they have been a faithful and loyal companions, but they are looking a tad worn and sad. I have loved them dearly but it is time for them to retire. Or at least I made that decision on spotting the black and minty loveliness that is the new studio shoes, but though they aren't all swish like the newbies, I shall miss their weird paint repelling magic that saw them not succumb to one drip in all those years. This is amazing as somehow there are regular splats, drips and marks on the carpet, my hair, face, glasses, clothes, the blinds, windows, walls and oddly, even the ceiling... but those shoes remained pristine. It was like they had a forcefield.

The newbies however have no force field and already have a some paint splats... in fact that is why I splattered a bit of paint on the sketch because they already are wearing a touch of the blue I used, which on reflection was totally the wrong colour as they are more an electric mint shade... you would think I would just look down at them and check the colour... but no I just sketched and painted them up... but on the plus side I get to paint them again in the right colour... there is always an upside to these things.

Dodgy painting colour choice aside, these babies are awesome... they have memory foam inners and are all sorts of comfy... plus I suddenly feel like a sporty type who is wearing sneakers during the day. I can practically feel the fitness seeping into my body via my feet. This of course is in complete contrast to the reality that I am perhaps the least sporty person you will ever meet and sport for me consists of lifting a full kettle onto the hob, or maybe hefting a pile of books from place to place, but maybe in these I will suddenly break out into actual sportiness. In case I don't though, they work a treat as I spend most of my day standing at my work benches in the studio and these very welcome by the end of a long day I must say. The final clincher is that they have no laces. I am a big fan of the slip on... not out of laziness or not being able to tie a shoelace... although that gets me thinking that it has been some years since I tied an actual shoelace... Phants did her own from a young age and not being the sporty type sneakers were never on the radar, and I am a sandals girl so it has been so long I can't actually recall the last time... which now has me wondering if I can still remember how to tie a shoelace... you know I am so going to find some shoes and give it a go now... just to check!

And once I have checked that I am going to make a cuppa, rest my poor painty sneakers and madly try to finish off my new crochet blanket before the summer creeps up on us. It is huge and getting a touch heavy as I am avoiding having to sew the bloody thing like the last one, but as it grows it is getting quite the weight to it... oooo maybe I can call it exercise if I wear the sneakers!!!
happy painting all...xx

everything is very matchy matchy, your new shoes and your blanket you're making which is lovely by the way.
I just bought a pair of the new sketchers and they also feel like I'm walking on foam, very comfy indeed, so I think I know what you saying ,,I really love those red shoes though, I truly do, I have a brown pair similar and if I ever find red ones I must buy them,
your red shoes immediately identify you to me,,when I see red shoes I think of you, when I was 8 I had a pair very much like yours and very much like my brown ones, funny that,

your sketch of your new studio shoes is beautiful, i had to make my eyes look again closer to see it was a painting,,
beautiful!

Your shoes speak to me. Love the little red ones you are about to retire. I've had a few pairs that I loved so I teared up when they went in the trash.

Your blankets are such pretty colors.

Sending Hugs.

I remember when you painted those red shoes first. Is it really years? Where has the time gone? Those new ones look very nice and comfy, and a bit of paint on them will only add to their charm. That blanket looks amazing! I've been thinking about trying a crochet (that is one of those funny English words I always immediately forget how to pronounce it) blanket, as I've knitted enough scarves, the only thing I can knit. Maybe now, with autumn and winter approaching.

Well, I love that you have 'studio shoes'. I feel that I now too need a pair of shoes specifically for the studio (even though technically my studio is still our dining room table as the art shed S is building me has been delayed all summer for all sorts of reasons - mostly rain and midge attack related!) Still, I currently just wear one of any number of house slippers that I have but perhaps I should stick to a an old pair of crocs already covered in paint from when we repainted the cottage when we moved in! Anyway, I'm very jealous of your new studio shoes - they look awesome. Are they Sketchers? S got me a pair of memory foam sketcher trainers (with laces!) recently and they are sooo comfy (still hasn't inspired me to take up exerise mind you!)
I love the crocheted blanket - everytime you show us your crochet it reminds me I want to learn! beautiful colours.

I've never been able to do shoes properly. You have a super painting of shoes. Especially love the red ones.

ooh yes hopefully in the future we will have sports shoes that activate out brains to make us feel 'YES! I want to go for a jog!' rather than 'YES! I will eat that pack of choccy biccies.' I love your new shoes and your blanket. Happy PPF

You are a crackpot Trace you really are... but then you probably know that already. You have me in stitches and not the crochet kind either.
I'm loving the new sporty (fit) look, but oh how I mourn your cute red ones. Tell me you won't discard them as your avatar? At the moment, they jump out at me (see they can be sporty too... if you give them a chance) when I'm trawling through online. They are so cheery and bright. I know you're there when I see them and I'm in for a treat when I read your post or comment.
Good luck with the laces but remember you'll have to contort and bend right down to virtually touch your toes to tie them... so there's another exercise.
You're going to be soooooo fit! ;D
Happy PPF to you
xoxo

Ooh I am loving the new shoes! I too am a fan of slip-ons and I too am NOT a fan of actual exercise - and boy is my body letting me know lately! And there's nothing more rudely awakening than a shopping trip, a three way mirror in a changing room along with horrific lighting to remind me that I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally need to do something about it! I'm afraid I wear slippers in the studio - That says it all! ;0)

brilliant illustration of the sneaks Tracey! They look like Sketchers and I have several pairs-some are slip on like these and some I lace up and tie-but they are all so comfy. Your crocheted blanket is looking fabulous too!

Love your "show art". Imagine my surprise when I discovered at 70+ that I had been tying my sneakers wrong! I wound the lace around one way when if I wound it the other way it would lie even and flat and not come untied. Happy PPF

If you can crochet, I bet you can still tie your shoes!!!

These are fantastic Tracey... (the art AND the shoes!) You and I have the same taste in shoes. And i too, am a BIG fan of the slip ons. Being able to tie a bow is overrated. ;) I always love visiting here. Always a guarantee of great art and a few good laughs. ;) Hugs to you and thank you! xx

Oh I am a slip on shoe gal for many many years now. I can't remember a pair of tie ups for a good twenty years or more...wow... The shoes look so much like my winter merrels in clog form...these look a lot lighter. Nice painting for sure and love the play on words too!! Shoe happy you shared this with us today! Love the blanket shoe!!

Awesome immortalising of shoes!!! What a great idea to sketch them up. Had to giggle at the paint splatter on (or repelling) them! I guess in an art studio ... shoes and the like do become splatter collateral! LOL Always love to visit!

Love the painting of your new shoes Tracey :)
But I hope you keep the red ones in your profile ;)
I can't wear those kind of shoes, I always step
on the edge with my heals and that hurts! Alot!

Have a beautiful weekend!
