Carrot Painting Demonstration....

Look at me posting for a second Tuesday running
and it isn't just pics and chat like it normally is
I made a video of myself completing this carrot painting
which I split into two parts so it isn't too epic
I also did a narration, which was really fun until I heard the playback
and realised that Sinus and Phantom may in fact be right
and I may have a voice that is a touch nasal
but by doing the narration it saved you from hearing me with a chipmunk voice
as I had to speed the whole thing up so that it didn't take 25 minutes
and when you speed the images, it also speeds the soundtrack
which made me giggle like crazy but wasn't great if you want to hear what I am saying
So here it is... a carrot painting demonstration...

happy painting all...xx

Tracey, it was SO cool to see you paint the carrots (and even more cool to hear your lovely voice!) Cracked me up that you made it into 2 parts, so that it wouldn't be "too epic". LOL. Damn right they're epic! i loved watching both videos. Such a treat. You have such talent...thank you for sharing this. big hugs to you. xx

Thank you for taking the time to make such a fabulous and instructive video. I have always enjoyed your style and it is great to see your process. I especially enjoy seeing how you handle the pen work. That is my favorite aspect of your style.

Thank you very much Tracey :))
Loved hearing your voice and watch you painting. And I've learned alot, I'll give those carrots a try too :))
.005 mm !!! I have two, one of .05 mm and another one of .1 mm ...
But you sure got the little fuzzy "hairs" done nicely with it. Next time I'm in that shop I'll see if I can get a fine one like yours :))

Just love it! Tomorrow I'll give it a try myself, right now it's already very dark here ;)

Thanks again, have a beautiful day Tracey!

Excellent videos Tracey! It was brilliant to hear you talk about what yo are doing and why and seeing the different layers go on, and why.
I think I may have a go at doing some carrots a la Tracey.

Are you going to offer classes? After seeing this I would definitely purchase instructional materials from you.

GET OUT!! Loved the videos and I saw so many things that I'm doing wrong! Going to have to check out the Uniball Vision pen - I told my husband that a girl can never have too many black pens like we can never have too many pairs of black shoes! Thanks!

Love your voice best of all:-) This is great, Trace. I really like what you shared about the guache and pen... I often work with frisket, saving whites ahead of time, but then when I take it off, chaos ensues. Many a painting ends up ruined either by eye piercing highlights that I am afraid to touch or muddy not-so-white "low"lights because I tried to wash color from surrounding areas over the lines. I do have a fat tube of chinese white... I certainly am going to pop that top now!

OMG! This was such fun!!! To see you work AND to hear your sweet voice. What do they mean nasal? LOL! And your carrots, of course, were wonderful. Myself, I would have been thrilled to make carrots that looked as good as in video one--ROFL! I want more or these!! More! More! ;)

Thank you, thank you, thank you Tracey! Oh I love hearing your voice :) Learned so much I need to try. I need more pens, that is for sure. And I need to get some Bristol board. I have often wondered about that. You are a treasure Tracey! Hope you will consider doing more videos :)

This is fantastic, Trace. I learned heaps from it. Your voice sounds exactly like in the video, it was as if we were Skyping. Hope you are going to make lots more videos as you are a great teacher.
Love it.

Whoa... what a treat and privilege to be able to sit in your studio with you, to watch you work.
I can't begin to tell you how much I've gained from this tutorial.
I would have commented last night when I watched it, just a few minutes after you posted it. But I wasn't able to have the sound turned up. Mr Snorer might have woke, so I had to wait until this morning to hear your gorgeous voice.
I can see there's going to be a rush on carrots now.
Your carrots have so much character and personality (unlike our EU uniformity).
Bless you for sharing your amazing talent with us mere mortals.
Now what's next? Peas, broccoli, cauliflower?
Must go now... I'm off to raid the fridge but not for my usual chocolate... I'm going for veggies! Who'd have thought!!!
Thanks again Trace... you're a legend xoxo

I LOVED watching these! It made me want to kick of my shoes and grab a cuppa because it was like you were right here! I'd love to have heard the voice sped up too... That would be so funny! Your carrots look as though they literally fell off the brush! And your pen skills look effortless... Sigh... I never tire of your characterful paintings my friend! More please! :0)

Thank you for showing this. It was most enjoyable and informative. I've only done a small amount of watercolor, but your video inspires me.

OK, seriously nominating you for SBS, the new course. Those carrots look delicious. I totally agree with Neesie, I'm gonna go have to raid the grocery store for produce! Think of the possibilities, I can see a kitchen sink soup in my near future, right after I paint all the ingredients! hehehe.
Love from Canada.

thanks for including all of the pens you use too.

VERY cool - thanks for bringing us along! I'm going to give this a try! A vacillate between not wanting to overwork so just being light with color - and putting too many glazes on....so glad you showed us your layering process....gives me confidence to keep up with the glazing!

Tracey, what fabulous videos! I loved to watch you paint the carrots and feel like I might be able to try my hand at painting veggies too. I love the depth and 3D quality you got to your paintings. I also like to use the pen along with the watercolors although sometimes it works out where things look better without ink. Thanks for the tips.

Wow, who would've thought that carrots could be so interesting! I did enjoy your demo. That was a good tip about starting with the yellow. Did you use Indian Ink with the dip brush? And I wonder if you can still buy that sort of pen from the newsagent?
That was really good,
Thanks Tracey.
