Studio Table...

For my mid week blog post I am doing something a little bit different
I am linking up my studio table with Seth Apter over at The Altered Page
partly because I am feeling relatively smug as my table isn't a complete bomb zone
plus it will give me a good excuse to go and stickybeak at other tables
and also because I am not quite game to try to get in and finish anything off
as it has been quite the morning
and yes it is going up a day early but blogging as a tool for avoidance
especially avoidance of a crap day.... is a wonderful thing

this delightful morning opened with hand sanitizer in the eye
I kid you not... somehow in the space of going to sleep last night
and waking this morning the spout thingy dried over just enough
so it could shoot out that gloop at warp speed at a right angle
and squirt directly into my eye
which led to much hopping around and washing of poor eye
resulting in knocking over all sorts of stuff and stubbing my toe
which in turn led to muttering and mumbling while mopping up various smears of makeup

once I recovered from this I came down to find all the bedding from the guest room
piled in a smelly mess on the floor in the laundry
and a note from Sinus Man explaining that the dog had thrown up all over it this morning
ah the joys of having a mutt with a glass stomach
who is also stupid enough to try to eat anything that sits still long enough to be hoovered

then I knocked over my cup of tea
I blame the still slightly blurry right eye for this one...

burnt my toast
not slightly charred either but the sort of cremation
that has you madly turning on all the extractor fan things
while fanning the air and nervously eyeing the fire alarm

I dropped Phants to the train station
and came home to find the driveway blocked by a big arse truck
delivering to the builders a few doors up

tripped over the mutt while trying to unlock the door and answer a text at the same time

almost took myself out
well maybe not quite but at the very least performed mad gymnastic stunts
while trying to hang out the king size duvet cover on my own
Wild Burrito Ninja looked like making a guest appearance I tell you

and finally knocked over a second cup of tea
so I am calling it a day and seriously considering building myself a blanket fort
and am not coming out again until things turn around... happy painting all...xx

PS don't forget to go and visit the studio tables over at The Altered Page
when they go up tomorrow..

I think the blanket tent sounds like a fine idea. I hope tomorrow turns out better for you.

So glad that I am not alone!! This sounds like a day that I survived too! The blanket fort is the perfect remedy or chocolate.

Don't you just love days like this... NOT! I'm beginning to think that Mutt and Muff (sounds like a cartoon series^..^) are linking in some cosmic way because she threw up over my son's bed yesterday too.
I love to stickybeak your dedk and workspace especially when there's so much to take in... the zoom button is my fav.
Gorgeous colours that have lifted me this morning... we're on day four or is it five of living in a pea souper! And I've had enough!!!
Thanks for making me chuckle and giving my day some colour.
Hoping this will reach you under the dunna den ;)
Be safe and don't forget to self medicate with masses of chocolate! XOXO

Aw Tracey it sounds like you've had a right day of it! I was almost hearing the music of the old laurel and Hardy movies with all your unfortunate slapstick antics! We also have dogs that will eat anything-Brodie recently had a bad case of the bokes after eating some Leeds than fresh sea creature! Your studio is gorgeous though-so light and airy.x

Oo-er... your day does sound pants! Hope it quickly improves! I do love nosing through your photo's... Though it makes me feel a tad envious that everything you own is so crisp and white! How do you keep everything looking as though it has only just come out of a shop?? :0)

I just LOVE your splashes of color lately... you're on to something with those beautiful perfume bottles. xx

Oh my, that bad start just kept on going and gaining strength as it went! Poor thing, I'd hide in a blanket tent too after all of that. I love looking into your bright studio and seeing all those marvelous art supplies and sketches-thanks for sharing.

It is such a happy space. Bright and cheerful. I love to create in spaces like that. My new studio space will be bright with lots of light and a view to the back yard, I can't wait to feel the cheeriness there. xox

This is hysterical, how could so much happen to one person on one day. I am also amused by the way the telling of these awful events are interspersed with beautiful photographs of art and art materials.

I'm joining you in the blanket tint!!! It's just one of those kinds of days :( Hope things are going better for you...as for me I"m taking my book to bed and hiding under the covers.

Your studio is like your writing...bright and cheerful. Your posts are always the highlight of my day. Your mention of a blanket fort took me back to my childhood and many hours spent reading in such a fort.

Oh Tracey. I'm sorry you've been having such an awful day. Please forgive me for laughing out loud at your expense, but it's really your fault for taking your lousy day and presenting it to us in an hilariously written blog. Love the blanket tent idea, but your studio looks so inviting, I might forgo the tent for a seat at your table.

Oh dear, sorry, laughing too much at your expense to say more. Luv you really.

so sorry about your day but it's a funny description. BTW, I'm always tripping over one of the brats (I mean cats) so I relate

So it's not just me that has days like that. Sounds like you need to crawl back into bed and start the day over. :) I love the images of your workspace, how light and bright it is and the cheerful colors that you use. Hope the eye is ok and that your day gets much better.

Well color me jealous! Your organised table just isn't right. My brain only works in piles. I want to be organised, but obviously not all of my synapses are firing. I love all of the your splats of color! Wonderful to see!

Hello! Visiting from Seth's blog hop and I love your studio table - full of color, which I LOVE! I also love that you surround your table with much colorful artwork - it's good to have so much lovely eye candy...

But most of all, I love that you are FUNNY!! Sorry to hear about the sanitizer in the eye but love that you turn it into such a hilarious story!! I've got to add you to my bloglovin list! =)

It's those kinds of days that make us truly appreciate the serene ones. If this had been a normal, ordinary day, we would have nothing to laugh and shake our heads over while we viewed your gorgeous studio.

When I first saw the desk, even before I read a word, I saw a cup of tea and worried how close it was to your laptop. I'm glad the tea didn't land there, at least. And you have a very creative space, too.

Thank you for the invite! I love the calm white walls and the rich colors of your work all mixed together! very inspiring.

What a horrible sounding day. At least you have that beautiful studio space. It's so lovely and bright! But a blanket fort sounds like a great idea, go for it :)

P.S. I'm kind of in love with your tea watercolors.

Just keep looking at those bright clear colours and you'll feel better. They are gorgeous!

I love a space with so much natural lighting and fresh artwork displayed on the walls! I LOVE those watercolors, too.

Crappy day? But you gathered so much material for a piece of art: hand sanitiser, dog vomit, burnt toast - all you need is some PVA glue and some thick card. :) Nice to meet you and your studio table. Ann

Sorry you had such a bad start to the day when you posted! We all have them. Thanks for sharing your light, bright and pristine studio! Some of us have to have it all together! :D

You had me at blanket tent! Only thing that might have made it all better is if the tea spilled on a piece of paper waiting for a touch of stain!

Such a happy, inspiring space you have made for yourself. Sorry about your day, but it made me smile to read the clever way you described it!
