Sunday Mugs ...

My desk is so full of wonderful at the moment that every time I come into the studio
I am grinning and giggling like a mad person
so many possibilities and oppportunities to paint magical mugs and cups
courtesy of all the generous people who have been sending me their mug shots
for the Cuppa With Friends Project I have running in conjunction with ICAD
The only down side as I see it is that when I get this happy I tend to sing
despite the fact that I can not hold a tune, am completely tone deaf, get the words wrong and have a tendency to change songs in the middle of a chorus
but I have volume baby... and enthusiasm so I figure that makes up for any short comings

Along with the muh madness, I finished this sketch of a pumpkin seed packet
and am posting is as a little tribute to my daughter, Phantom Steve
because I used to call her little pumpkin
no clue why I used to call her that... she wasn't particularly orange or anything...
but I am figuring some fairly neglectful parenting is on the horizon
so a little preemptive sucking up to my magnificent eye roller may be called for

Day 1 of Cuppa With Friends is a painting form Stefanie Stark
you can find her here on Facebook... or her blog here
I am always going to love a nice bright mug... complete with a chuppa chup

Day 2 of ICAD and I did a mug from Mo
whose Flikr stream is found here... and she is a fellow ICAD virgin
note to self not to tackle mugs covered in dots when you have set a limit of 20 mins
it leads to serious cross eyed ness by the end and is not so conducive to any sort of neatness

In fact thinking I may have to rethink the time limit and change it to 30 minutes
because some of you have sent me some seriously detailed mugs
and 20 minutes might not do them justice
but my lovelies I am off to finish off some other paintings I have on the go
and maybe bust out a few tunes while I am at it
Keep those mug shots coming... they are making me insanely happy

happy ICAD and Sunday Sketches...xx

In France they say bad singing causes it to rain....I'm blaming you then for days and days of rain... Please stop singing. Loving your Cuppa with Friends... :) x

I think this is such a fantastic idea and I love seeing the different mugs that folk have sent to you. As for loud singing - I tend to do that when I'm driving to the beach to walk the dogs - I currently have Bruno Mars' new cd on and sing 'when I was your man' repeatedly!

This is a wonderful idea. I know everyone is so excited when they see their mug painted by you. Awesome.

I love what Giggles wrote about Mr. Tuba. Just think what beautiful music you could make together.

YiPpEe! It's a B&W 'harlequin' mug. Yeah I knw they're spots but it has always reminded me of harlequin patterns. (well when I've got my glasses off I s'pose, lol) Love it and it's 'flaws' so much.
Sing up Tracey, sing up! Then you'll drown out my own dire attempts, lol Even the wee man can't contain himself and tells me it's terrible. Huh! Bloomin cheek! Might have to take his lego off him next time ;)
Time to chop the veggies,
ttfn Mo:0) x

Talk about 'seeing spots before your eyes!' brilliantly done...and terrific seed packet too. You are not the only one who calls a child by the name of a vegetable...we used to call our daughter 'punkin' too...so apparently it's almost universal...wonder where that came from? have fun!

What great paintings. I love your b/w mug and the punkin! :) Tell me again, do you use watercolors only or do you paint then add artist pens on top? :)

I say, sing away! Enthusiasm is important in many endeavors and I think singing is one of them. Absolutely charming paintings, your little pumpkin packet is quite sweet and the mugs are so much fun!

I enjoy when you create super colorful pieces like the two cups.

Mo's dotty mug makes me feel cross-eyed too when I look at it, but it's a great painting (and a great mug too, Mo). I cannot draw a cup or mug that looks realistic for the life of me, and the fact that I'm trying to do so at the moment increases my admiration for you tremendously.
And both Pumpkin's are a delight.

I love being called pumpkin and I don't know why, so I like that term of endearment for your daughter. Yeah, this is a a happy fun tea loving project you have going. I'm so glad you have so many folks sending you mugs to paint. I look forward to seeing them. Best wishes to you!

Ahhh...so that's it! I wondered why it's decided to rain...it's your singing! I'm using the term 'singing' loosely obviously by your description you'll not be in the chorus for the Christmas panto! ;D
I don't blame you for letting rip though Trace...you sound so happy and in the zone there...it's wonderful to hear and is definitely infectious.
I'm loving this challenge (without the stress of actually entering myself) I'm watching in awe of your talent! You go girl....
Happy Muggin' xoxo

I've missed your blog posts during my move,Tracey, and after reading and looking at this one...I remember why. I LOVE your energy, paintings and especially your relationship with Phantom Steve. Give her a big, humungous hug from someone who can't hug their children...or grandchildren every day!
