A week or so ago I had the brain wave to start the Cuppa With Friends Project
and combine drawing people's mugs and cups with the Index Card A Day Challenge
well I have to say it has been a bit of a roller coaster
not a bad roller coaster, but one of those really thrilling, mad roller coasters
my thought processes have gone something like this...

What if no one sends me cups and mugs...
What if I get 50 million and my inbox crashes...
There are so many awesome ones being sent through already
who knew I had so many friends...
Oooo look at that one.... I would kind of like that one to own
or that one... or that one... dear god they are all amazing
wonder if I can get ones like them on ebay...
I have now been cruising ebay for 20 mins looking for any of them and they are not there... need to get off the computer
wonder if they have any of them at the Tea Centre
I'm almost out of Japanese Lime
maybe I should take a trip to get some more

No I don't need any more tea, or tea cups
what I need is a cup of tea... what sort of tea will I drink
maybe I should vary the type of tea for every painting
no that is mad... just put the kettle on and start drawing/painting
what if my cards are rubbish... what if I insult people.
maybe 20 mins is mad... I should allocate an hour
who needs sleep after all
actually I could go a nanna nap
or chocolate
I will have some chocolate... where did I hide it again
that's right the laundry room... which is brilliant I have to say
because no one braves the great wall of washing but me
While I am there I should put on a load of washing

Washing on, tea in hand and chocolate scarfed I am ready
I will do this one, no, that one
just grab one... and set timer... 20 mins
get drawing and painting... what on earth is that buzzing
20 mins is up already ... are you kidding me
ok 30 mins might be a better amount of time...
and I had better start with some simple ones to warm up and get used to working this quickly
Not too bad all things considered...
what is that buzzing now... did I set the alarm on my phone again by accident
have to ask Phantom how to fix it... why can't I work out phone alarms... I am so rubbish at technology
oh right it is the washer... load's done
excellent because I need more chocolate ...

Seriously my brain has been a whirlwind all week
a fabulous , magnificent whirlwind and I am into it big time now... having a great time...
I have used watercolour and micron pen, of course
gouache and acrylic paints, some bits of collage
and for Tam's which I completed this morning
I used acrylic paint and watercolors, micron pen and twinks
onto handmade paper that I pasted onto the card
which gives it an effect I am kind of liking very much...it gives it a very soft feel
which is quite exciting... can't wait to get started on my next to tell you the truth
so if you have any mugs or cups that you want to send get cracking on it
details are at the top of the page and I have embraced the whole madness
and have decided there is no such thing as too many mugs or cups
I will be blogging about my week's cups on a Wednesday
so maybe yours will pop up next week...
hugest heartfelt thanks to everyone who is getting behind this and being part of the fun
I am truly loving it all... xx
PS I am also linking this up over at Artists Play Room where others are joining in the fun
and painting up mugs and cups as well... xx
My last two posts have been these...
Sunday Mugs ...

What a fabulous, well loved cup. Wouldn't fancy drinking out of it, but I'd be happy to spy it on my shelf :D
Step away from the chocolate!
If I have to, then so do you! Well just until after this wedding I'm off to at Gretna Green. Romantic or what!? Not me tho' I'll be watching the mini-bar tab, haha. :0) xx
Now I need a cup of tea.
xx
Wow these are gorgeous... what an exciting project! You will have an amazing body of work when all is said and done... I can't wait to see where this all ends up...I feel like it is going to be bigger than you think...I can imagine decks of cards, a tea company contract, prints sold for kitchens, calendars.... and so much more!!I have such a mug fetish that This is all such a thrill I look so forward to seeing EVERYONES mugs....EXCELLENT job!!
Hugs Giggles
This is just a delight to see all the cups your drawing and painted and sketched and colored and drooled over...lol! You have many friends, lady!! And they all need a cup for their coffee or tea...and are perfectly willing to share their sipping favs. ;)
Wow I love that first one, very soft and romantic! I can see you becoming one of those horder people who have their whole house full of their collections. You could stash your chocolate in the mugs as Phantom and Sinus would roll their eyes when you add another mug to your collection! Then you wouldnt need to face the laundry when you need a chocolate fix!
these are all AMAZING!!!
They are wonderful Tracey but I love Tam's cup the most. I think it reminds me of a very delicate china cup with gold rim. Love.
Did someone say chocolate? Maybe if I go check MY laundry room chocolate will appear! Nope, only laundry. Happy Cup-a-day my friend, have some chocolate for me. :o)
Some people are great with art and some are fabulous & witty writers... You, my friend, are both. Can't wait for more!!! :)
Well, I'm exhausted. So glad it's your mind racing and not mine. What a fun project. I can hardly wait to come to a place in my card making/selling project where I can paint again. Meanwhile I'm loving what's happening and don't want it to end. Aren't we complicated!?
Love your cups, love your project! <3
It's a little scary how alike we are in our thought process!! So enjoyed this post. The cups you are recreating are gorgeous. The first one is stunning, it looks so real! Just love it. And I still plan on emailing you a photo of my cup. As soon as I switch my laundry....
xoxo

Nice mug shots! Have fun, Valerie
Lol! Well at least the first thought that popped in to your head didn't happen! My head is spinning from just reading it - what must yours be doing? They are some gorgeous tea cups you are being sent! Glad you are rising to the challenge and enjoying it too :0)
great looking tea cups! Maybe I'll get one of mine down and paint it. Though I have more mugs (for coffee) than cups... {:-Deb
I can just feel your energy and excitement in this post regarding your new project-or did you have a tad too much chocolate? :):) These are such beautiful illustrations. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful and entertaining. I'm loving all the cups and your beautiful interpretations of them. Hugs xx
Your spinning brain is making my head hurt! As you can see I finally made it back for a visit and look what I find....a page of beautifully drawn teacups. This is the perfect project for you since we all know your love of teacups and there are so many pretty ones out there. One a day, huh? That'll be 61 ICAD teacups! And each one as well drawn and pretty as the others... Looking forward to more. And, calm that brain down a bit why don't you???
Love this project... and you draw soooooo well
Those cups are fabulous. I really love the softness of the hand made paper. Great tip on a hiding place for chocolate, might try that myself :) Sent you some photos of my cup collection.
Luv Von.
I don't know if you need anymore, but I send you a couple :) waving hi from the rainy hills of North Carolina ♥
hahaha embrace the madness! good one! :D hehe lovely lovely work! So much positivity and tea! :D Have a lovely rest of the week and thank you from my heart! :D
You are hilarious! I always enjoy reading your posts! Haven't taken a picture yet of one of my nephew's mugs- have been laid low with a bad cough. :^) patsy
Thanks for the laugh, I'm breathless just reading about your madcap adventure with cups. Now isn't there a saying - "he's in his cups" but I think he'd been emptying glasses, not painting cups.
Your mugs are gorgeous! You really have a skill for seeing the beauty in things I might not even look twice at. I love to have my world open up a bit. Thank you. You're also so funny and fun to read...
All your cups are wonderful, but I really love the first one. Such a soft, dreamy painting! Looking forward to the next 50+ !!!
Love your project, and all the wonderful mugs here, and the different techniques you used. I've meant to send you mug pictures too, but I don't seem to get anything done yet. Will try at the weekend - that is if you're desk isn't overflowing with mugs by now :)
How fun!
fantastic and inspiring creations. Thank you for sharing.
Your drawings are beautiful, and what a magically fun project you've embarked upon. I adore things like this, big creative goals that takes time but gives energy.
Thanks for sharing.
