Muz Saves The Day ... Again

Today is going to be a great day
not just because it is a Friday and the sun is finally out
but also because my beloved Sinus Man is planning no home repairs this afternoon
Sinus has many talents... seriously...
he is the flat pack furniture construction guru, he irons clothes like a dream,
he can sleep anywhere, can fart on cue and can't tell jokes for the life of him
which of course makes the lamest joke hilarious because he mucks it up so gloriously
Sinus also makes a bed like no one I have ever met
it is like sleeping on a cloud after he has fluffed and shaken the bejesus out of everything
and he attacks projects with all sorts of enthusiasm, which is great most of the time
but when it comes to home repairs, not so much
so on arriving home last Friday with new taps tucked under his arm and that gleam in his eye
Phantom and I were feeling a touch concerned

We heard all sorts of ominous clatters and grunts, and the dog came bolting to sit between us
closely followed by Sinus announcing he finally had the bloody things out of the packet and he was off to turn off the water... I have to say I was worried at that stage... really worried

10 mins later and a veritable symphony of mutters, squeals and scary tool type noises
Sinus declared he in fact didn't have the right tools
and hadn't been able to do anything but remove the old taps and would attack it another day
and he was off to meet the boys for their weekly drinks and gossip

There were sighs of relief from Phantom, the dog and I and we figured we had dodged a bullet
until the water was turned back on and we suddenly had old faithful in the bathroom
I tell you water was shooting straight out with quite an impressive gush
slightly scary... but impressive none the less
the water was turned off again and I was having visions of us having a rather smelly weekend
but I was assured he had it in hand... yeah right...
he waded back into the inadvertently pressure cleaned bathroom
there was a a bit of head scratching and comments about being stronger than he thought
but he eventually admitted defeat and a call for help was sent out

Luckily for all of us his mate Muz arrived with the correct tool in hand to sort it out
which meant more mutters, grunts and truly scary noises
but bless his tool wielding little heart, Muz saved the day as he always does
though he possibly undid his good work because he then spent the next ten minutes walking around the house pointing out future projects for Sinus
is the man mad.... why is he encouraging him...

Alls well that ends well I suppose and Sinus headed off to drinks with the boys
where he no doubt regaled them with tales of his home repair mastery
I do wonder if he came clean with needing the rescue from Muz
probably did though... Sinus has no shame
we are talking about the man who went for his walk this morning in his pajama shirt... seriously... he figured it was dark so why change and he was saving me doing extra washing
sort of makes sense in that male brain sort of way
but his PJ shirt... really... what would Muz say about that I wonder...

Happy Paint Party Friday all ...xx

My last two post links are here ...

beautiful taps, you tell the best story of anyone I know, honestly and you know what, its still Thursday in my part of the world, 10 past 8pm , not even dark yet!

Yay, Muz! Saved the day. We have a Muz in our lives too - the one that comes in at the nick of time and yes fixes that what have you. What would we do with out the Muzs of the world! Glad you are back in action with things in working order :)

You guys are hilarious! Or at least you make it sound that way. We had a few episodes of home repair , ours caws a gusher shooting right across the kitchen floor. He eventually learned though. Now he can do anything.

Gotta love men they do try don't they. Mine tries to fix things and just like Sinus, always has to get help. On the bright side, your bathroom is sparkling and you have beautiful new taps. Love your painting.

ha! funny story and your painting are lovely as always! my husband builds other people's houses so it's a bit like the cobbler's children having no shoes around here...

I wondered why you were sketching the bathtub faucet and knobs--ROFL! You are all lucky Muz knew what to do and had the tools for the job--thank goodness! Looks good now. ;)

this sounds so familiar. you are lucky to have a Muz to call on...we do not. oh well, they do have their good points, i will admit.

one of my friends just asked me for a handyman reference. I'm totally sending her your husband's way!

You make the most fun out of your weekly household events. I just love reading all about it. Although I'm quite blessed with a fella who can actually repair things, he also can fart on cue. Or belch. Keeps things interesting. :D
Have a wonderful weekend!

Great, fun post! It's awesome how many things men can do, but they often think they know how to do even more! Wonderful taps drawing! :)

Oh dear....but at least your bathroom will be clean now. I see a neighbour from my window who walks the dogs each morning completely in striped pyjamas. No, not the dogs, HE wears them....Valerie

Great sketch and funny story.... I was totally prepared for it to end in a flood! Perhaps of tears! Glad it didn't. Nervous about the next round of Muz inspired projects! Good luck!

TOO funny! And PJ's shirt sort of make sense, right? At least that was a logical thought behind it.
I once walked into Starbucks with PJ's pants! Worse is that I just noticed because of the weird looks I was getting! :D

ha Tracey, your tales are so funny-i laughed at all the grunting and noise just to get the taps out of the packet! great illustration too-you make the ordinary look extraordinary! thanks for the link to picmonkey -i hate photoshop (because i don't know how to use it!) so this will be great!

You have to write a book! We are all waiting. Happy PPF.

I can see the funny side of this, shouldn't laugh at your unfortunate waterworks episode though. It would have been a pain to mop up. Glad Muz was there to rescue the day (and your weekend from smelliness). Wonderful paintings of the new facets (tap bits)BTW. xx

funny but oh I have been thru a water mess like that! Thankfully we had the right tools :) Love your illustration of the faucet!

Tracey you are so talented. I always look forward to visiting. Not only do I get to see a wonderful illustration (or two or three) but I know I will start my day with a laugh. You had me with the first sentence of your post.

Lol! Paul and I have been known on more than one occasion to go out in the darkness of winter, to pick the kids up in our dressing gowns and PJ's! Though I have to confess, I do sometimes worry that I might break down in the car - or have an accident! People would probably think I'd have escaped from a mental health institute! Anyway - Paul is quite good at DIY - but making a bed?? Nope - he SUCKS!!!
I LOVE your painting! Only YOU could make a set of taps exciting!!! :0)

Oh Tracey you make me laugh! Mr. Sinus sounds like a keeper even with his lack of plumbing abilities. Good thing for Muz! Love your painting too! You are such an inspiration. HPPF!

Oh, Lynn, this sounds like something from my own dh's household repairs. He really wants to do these manly repairs but somehow they never go easy.

I really admire your ability to make a lovely illustration/painting out of such a mundane subject as faucet fixtures.

What a funny story. The Sinus sounds like a fab mate with all his other good qualities. My superhero does a great job even though he doesn't always want to....Love the cuppa project and your faucets are grand, I can picture the spouting fountains of water now. xox

lovely job on those taps Tracey!

Now who did a better job on those taps I wonder....Yes Tracey Fletcher King...is the WINNER!! Now we know who truly has the better tools....hey Sinus!!

All kidding aside, Sinus is a good sport.... I have tried several tease my family posts and get in nothing but hot water... fortunately Beardo can iron, make an amazing bed, and is a very handy man too....but hey....he can't golf!! lol

Have a great weekend!

What a hilarious, and sadly classic tale!

And great job painting the faucet - I bet that was deceptively difficult.

Oh Trace you fill me with fear...my hubby hasn't tackled any DIY projects in over 24 years of travelling but has plans for lots when we arrive back in the UK! Like Sinus I think in his man brain he's a real handy man but in reality its quite another thing :(

You had me in stitches with this post. Really absolutely hilarious!
I just want to know how you can make a painting of taps look so fantastic! Now that's talent :D

Have a great weekend.xoxo

Thought I was going crazy until I realized I had posted on Google+. My dh can fix things but he is slow as molasses! Sometimes it is better to find a friend or even pay someone! Love your faucets - they gleam and shine and of course your posts always give the bonus of knee slapping, water out the nose laughter. HPPF

Oh how funny! I really dislike home repair projects too. My resident home repair man is probably a bit more like Muz...but it is never fun, something always goes awry.

Beautiful drawing of your taps. Are these the new ones? They're very handsome and just might be worth a geyser in the bathroom!

I love your stories and only you can make what would normally be a mundane picture of fixtures into a work of art! I'm just patiently waiting on my husband to clean out the gutters over here - seems like he says he will do it every weekend and it seems like he must be forgetting each time. Maybe I need to step up my "reminders"!!

what a brilliant story!!! heheheh I LOVED it!!! Those taps are brilliant and I still marvel over how you are able to make any object interesting, charming and even beautiful!

You really need to write a book!!! :)
