Day 22 Jehanne @ Jehanne's Doodles |
the Cuppa With Friends project I am doing in conjunction with ICAD is coming along
though I must come clean and say this week was a bit tougher
some weeks you just paint like crap and none of it comes easily
so even though the results are still there every single bloody card was a struggle
on one it was the card started to dissolve a bit under the watercolours
which wad the case with the card above... it took two goes to get it sorted
another day it was a super wet and miserable day so it just wouldn't dry and the colours ran
another was just a super busy day so no time, then I was too cold to think
and on one shocking day I found the the house was devoid of chocolate

Day 23 ... Lisa Wright @ The Write Stuff |
So the big question this Sunday morning was how to turn it around
I luckily found a stash of chocolate which I took as a good sign
then got in and cleaned and sorted the studio a bit, well cleared a path to my desk at least
and decided it was time to paint up the card I had been planning for Lisa Wright
I have had this photo of Damon from the Vampire Diaries above my desk
in preparation for Lisa's card as we are both sadly in lust love with Damon
and we both watch the show and email each other after episoides to discuss his loveliness
totally embarrassing in women of our age, but he is just too sexy pretty to be ignored
so I spent a glorious hour or so painting him up and adding little cut outs of the painting I did of her tea cup... suddenly life is better
I used a lightbox to get all his features in place on some handmade paper
because drawing people is my absolutre least favourite thing to draw and paint
and if I had had to draw him freehand he may have ended up resembling some weird creature
but after a good old fashioned perve and paint for an hour or so the world is set to rights

Day 21... Leigh @ Bead Original |
I enjoyed doing this delicate cup sent in from Leigh
even though it is a touch wonky
but it was painted without chocolate so I am cutting myself some slack there
and the one below was painted for Ken who I have known for 25 years
which is a bit freaky in itself but as it was his birthday on that day
and he is a mad bridge guru and so it seemed that I was meant to paint it

Day 20 ... Ken Dawson |
The next two were both done when I was short of time and I was super rushed
but I was pleased with how they turned out and they were both such lovely mugs
that even the awful painting weather didn't annoy me too much

Day 19 Fiona Darling |

Day 18 ... Cynnie from Galerie 46 |
The final mug for the week was from Alicia Araya
and it gave me a few moments as the patterning was quite subtle,
but it was worth the moments of angst as it was just so lovely

Day 17 ... Alicia Araya |
So there are the 7 cups and mugs from the week
and below are a few of the pages of the illustrated journal
which I am trying to keep as I am going along
have to say I am getting quite behind but after the injection of chocolate
and a better painting morning I am ready to attack and catch up some more pages ...xx

Brilliant. I'm loving this mug series, each is so unique. That face is great too, impressed. The weather has been all over the place over the last week. Fantastic that the sun is out today !Enjoy.
very good and funny, cups are up
It's so much fun to see the mugs of all these artists whose work I've gotten to know. Blessings, my friend!
Chocolate helps everything, doesn't it?! Glad your chocolatey muse was able to get you back on track.
Love the cups! I think my favourite is that cute guy, er, I mean Alicia's lovely blue mug. Your drawing and painting are so good! I really enjoy seeing it.
(By the way, I'm having trouble with my cards dissolving, too! Of course, I did buy them cheap at the dollar store, so they're extra-flimsy, but still! Hmm, I guess I just need more chocolate!)
Amazing series of wonderful mug fun!
Great series, fun and beautiful! <3
Tracey, what a FABULOUS week of creations you had! I love the story behind each one. Your beautiful work is just SO inspiring! Thanks!
This is just way too fun!! Love your talent... blow me away what you accomplish!! It's been 15 years since I played bridge...but boy did I love it. Those cards speak to me since we used to big big card players in my house...time to crack them open me thinks! Thanks for sharing your big talent.... Still need to post mine on my blog!! Glad you found chocolate...I am getting excited for you to try mine.....wink wink!!
Hugs Giggles
Wow Tracey, some amazing mugs and you've done them all justice! The cow one is so cute as is the sheep one and I've no idea who Damon is but that's a brilliant way to do Lisa's mug illustration!
Well seeing Damon has made my morning. I must say drawing him is the perfect excuse to gaze at his loveliness for hours....
I shall never be able to drink tea from that mug without thinking of him again!!! which is of course no bad thing ;)
wow they are all amazing, who would have guessed that there would be such fabulous mugs and cups out there.

Great post, thought it was only me that get distracted every now and then, but some days are just like that - things does not come easy. I love your cups, the simplicity and colours are fantastic!
love all the cups..my fav tea is yogi tea and yesterday I was drinking chai tea at the africa festival we have in liverpool every year..
Good thing you found the chocolate -- I needed my cup fix! xx
I am loving your project, i may have said that before, but these new ones are all so great... I love the hand holding the cow mug... I know you probably have tons to paint but i am planning to email my mug to you anyway... Just so you know!
really fantastic series of illustrations!! I love seeing all the new mugs emerge from your challenge.
What a fun project! I've been wanting to do a series of cups on 6x6 panels but haven't been able to find reference photos I like. I like all of your mug paintings, especially the cow. :D
love each and every one of them. you had a very productive week!!
How do you get through then all, and whatever you say about them and the traumas of painting them, they are all superb. I didn't know there were so many interesting cups and mugs in the world.
Sadly we are experienced and regular mug-breakers, so nothing expensive ever crosses our threshold. Another reason why I love seeing your paintings so much!
I think you nnnnneeeeeeddd some REAL German chocolate to help sustain you through the rough days!!! It does wonders for the soul. Your Cuppa project is sooooooo goooood. Of course, I love day 18 but that is beside the point isn't it. Hope you had a relaxing weekend.......
I think I was too overwhelmed by the charm of the first picture to fully absorb the rest! That precious cow, and then his face in the corner as well, and the way you have it framed in the green, But most amazingly, that hand, holding the cup. Genius!
I don't know if it's the chocolate or what, but you're definitely on a creative roll!
You've really gotten photos of some awesome cups & mugs...and adore your paintings of them! always fun to see 'what's up' at your house and the adventures in your studio!
It's always fun to see your mugs or cups. This is turning into an awesome series. And of course, I always enjoy your banter along the way, as we explore these beauties with or without the aid of chocolate!!
I can't believe how productive you have been despite the hurdles! You put me to shame! I just LOVE your mugs and the journal is such a great complimentary project to run along side! I feel the need to do some watercolours. Oils take so long to dry! This immediacy is really making me think I am using the wrong medium whilst time is so short... Hmm...
I have never watched Vampire Diaries...hummm.... LOL!
I am so loving this series, lady!! I can hardly wait to see the batch every week. :)
This post made me smile! Where would we be, & what would NOT be accomplished without chocolate?!?!
I am such a big fan!! :)
LOVELY mugs & cups!!. Everything is better with chocolate & a naughty vampire :). I LOVE vampires series & movies so much, can't help it.
making cards and journal pages at the same time!? That's an achievement. My journal has fallen by the wayside this month of ICADs... Your cups are lovely. Even if I don't know who Damon is, I've heard the name! {:-D
just the fact that you can stick with it every day is an achievement, but everything that comes out of your pen smacks of genius to me!
OH DAMON!! I just LOVE that card!!
(I also love your Cow mug, but seriously... Damon is much more appealing!)
Ooo Ooo there's my cup! and I showed it to my cup and she liked it too. Thanks ♥♥♥
