A few weeks ago Snap Lane from Twisty Lane sent me this awesome postcard
it was right up my alley as it had tea, books and flowers... three of my favorite things
and she kindly gave me permission to paint it up
well here it is...hope that Snap, who happens to be having a birthday today!!!!
likes it as I am quite pleased with the result
especially as it was created under some trying circumstances
the loveliness of this image has been doing a great job of offsetting the weirdly disgusting happenings this week
I have no clue why these things happen to me
but the studio has been inundated with issues emanating from the posterior region
Top of the list is the fact that my neighbor has had bad wind for days now
and I have been painting away to his melodious sound of his bottom burps
which is impressive as we don't live on top of each other
so his volume is up there to carry such a distance
At first I was blaming the dog, and while I was puzzled at his sudden volume
as he has always been a bit of a silent killer, drop and run type mutt
plus the fact that there was no eye watering stench made me suspect he was innocent
then, for a horrified moment I considered that I was the culprit
but surely I would be aware of such emanations wouldn't I
following this thought I heard a cough and fart and realized it was my neighbor
who was working away on his car in the back yard
and now I am oddly impressed at his volume while at the same time being deathly afraid to venture out in to the back yard in case the stench matches the volume
Accompanying this bottom symphony is the sheer stupidness of Mushu the wonder mutt
who has sat on an ant's nest... twice
which has led to him coming crying into the studio and me having to pick the ants off his butt
They are horrible big bitey ants so he has quite the cry which is just awful
though I have to say that pulling ants off your dog's butt is no picnic either
but to make it worse I usually put ice on his ant bites
which is quite acceptable as they are usually on his paws
so he cried until I went and got ice
and he proceeded to lie back on my desk in the studio, with his head resting on this painting and I had to rub ice on his butt... seriously
which led to that sort of watery patch up in the top corner... that is dog butt meltage
all while the neighbor is trumpeting like a champion
I tell you my life just gets weirder
But life was not all painting and weird butt related incidents this week
I also had a brain wave and am combining ICAD
with a project to paint peoples cups and mugs
which I am calling the Cuppa With Friends Project
and thanks to Aimee for donating this first mug for the project...
and I have already received this mighty pile of photos
I love that people are getting behind this
and I have had some serious cup and mug envy between the farts and the ant bites
I am so excited for it to get started tomorrow
But I would love more photos, the more the merrier I say
so go to either the link to the last post
or there is a page at the top of the post that has all the details
I need your mug shots people
though can we keep any mug and cups that are butt related to a minimum after this week
a break from all things posterior would be very welcome...
Happy Paint Party Friday all...xx

What a week you've had! Some lovely things have come out of it though:) Wonderful still life, I love the flow and line work, beautiful. Enjoy your weekend.
OMG what a week Tracey........lol
Loving your latest illustration its fab........have a great weekend. Happy PPF, hugs Annette x
Kindness to dogs, sympathetic thoughts for a neighbor's digestive disorders and beautiful paintings -- you are living in the rose garden of life (or is that the thorn bed?) Glad you keep your wits about you and keep sharing your wonderful paintings.
Okay--Karma was lying across my chest as I was trying to see over her to read blog posts and I started to laugh and giggle and jostle Karma all about. Then her bobbling cracked me up further so that I couldn't stop and she left in disgust. I told her it was your neighbor and Mushu's ant butt's fault, but she could care less. does this mean I am in the cat house? LOL! ;)
Ooh! I needed a big laugh. You fixed that right up! Thank you !♥
I'm laughing so hard I'm afraid I'm going to wake my husband up. Very funny post!
I am so sorry about your gassy neighbor!!
Hahaha! You are so great! I just have to tell you that as I was reading this and got to the part about being scared to venture into the backyard, I read the word "match" and immediately thought you might be afraid of a gas explosion! Hahaha! Either way, I had quite a laugh about it.
I hope Mushu feels better (and stays away from the ants)!
xo

p.s. I hope this comment works (I'm trying to send it from my phone).
This is really beautiful Tracy. I always like your tea cups, but your flowers are absolutely beautiful in this one!
You are always SO funny! Very impressive neighbor you have :D
So funny, Tracey! Your painting of the tea, books, and flowers is wonderfully gorgeous.
Your painting is beautiful Tracey. I love the colors. Of course you made me laugh just picturing all that is going on at your house. Your neighbor must be something. Have a great week.
Beautiful painting Tracey!
That is a strange and gross week, INDEED! Hope your cups and mugs take your mind off the happenings and on the awesomeness of painting!
What a bizarre week you've had Tracey! I cant believe all the dramas in your life, no wonder you drink so much tea!. Look forward to seeing your new project unfold:) HPPF
It's hard to imagine such a lovely painting emerging amidst the mayhem you've described. Your work is so lovely!
What a lovely interpretation of this card!
Powerful neighbor talents ... Best stay inside!
HPPF!
wow. that is one heck of a week girl! I was giggling and reading this out loud to my husband...quite a trip. and I will try to send a mug shot. may take me a bit to figure it out...we'll see. glad you reminded me to start tomorrow!
I knew I'd been missing something these past months I've been 'on holiday' from blog land - the suppressed chortles that come from reading your blogs! :-)
I knew I would get a giggle if I came here! Love love your art this week, some teacups and ugs flying your way!
I love your still life!!! ♥
Fun post and lovely work! Valerie
Poor little Mushu, he's lucky you love him enough to ice his butt. Still laughing at the neighbour, eww, I wonder if he knew you were there. Nah, he would have fluffed a merry tune if he had seen you. Love the painting, especially under such trying circumstances.

Aw poor Mushu! What a week, hey! Love your drawing, so cozy and pretty! <3
You always can make life's uncomfortable annoying moments into something really funny. What a gift!
The painting is beautiful! You're doubly talented!
You know you're old when....you "Cough and Fart!" That's a fact...ask Joan Rivers...it's non negotiable...just wait...lol
And you too Sinus.....
As for those ant bites.... poor duffer..!! What is it with dogs and butts anyway?....I swear... it's always an issue...and usually at the most inconvenient moments too...
Absolutely fabulous illustration of that photo...wow so impressive!! Love it!! So much detail!
Maybe I should have put some earplugs in your package.....
possibly a nose plug too!!
Hugs Giggles
fantastic drawing..Your post about wind made me laugh as my teenage son lives on beans and pot noodles and his bedroom regularly needs fumigating!! happy ppf
I immediately recognized Snap's mug from her post...you did a marvelous job of rendering it - ah to draw like you draw.....simply marvelous! Glad you like the mug....Happy PPF xox
Oh wow! Crazy time you've had! Life is strange In many ways I agree! Wonderful work and hang in there!
Love the painting - butt melt and all - and thanks for making me laugh out loud this morning!
I laughed out loud several times (sorry)!!! I love your watercolour ... thanks for using my postcard. I am honored by your beautiful work. Poor Mushu ... perhaps he likes the ice so much he tries it for a second time??!!!!!!!!!!!
xx
Gorgeous, gorgeous painting, Tracey!
What a lovely interpretation of the postcard! :)
♥♥♥
Happy PPF!!

I still have nightmares of the time I had to pull a pink ribbon out of my cat's butt. I understand completely.
I adore the painting, even it's bit of watery corner.
And OMG, your week has been something! Here's to a less noisy/disturbing next week.
Happy Friday!
Oh Tracey what a hilarious post! I can't believe your neighbour just parps so loudly - is he completely unaware of just how far the sound of his pimping reaches! I bet he'd be mortified if he knew you could hear him!
As for Mushu - the poor wee soul - I have the cutest image of him lying back as you tend to his poor ant-bitten bahooka! I often get the pleasant job of trimming 'claggy' bottom hair from round our two pooches butt-holes and none of us enjoys it in the slightest but needs must, so I can empathise fully (although thankfully I don't think we get giant bitey ants in these parts!)
Oh, and what a beautiful job you made of an already beautiful postcard composition. I can't wait to see my mug get the TFK treatment!!
Great painting. I cannot imagine how you are able to keep a straight face when you meet your neighbour!!
hahahaha! But as I laugh I sincerely hope non of my 6 will follow in your neighbour's footsteps... for you know if one does it, the rest will want to out do him and we'll have an unfortunate symphony of trumpets going... and I will move to Australia!
OMgoodness that is the funniest post I have read in quite a while! You could put all these tales into book form and make a fortune! Your neighbour is one gross dude!! You could probably report him to environmental health you know! Lol.
And poor puppy dog getting his butt bitten - OuChY!!! Poor wee thing:(
BUTT (hehe) your painting is wonderful and best of luck with the first day of ICAD Tracey - and to me too! I have no idea what I'm doing, lol :0) Mo xx
I can always come by and visit you for a weird story (and this was a strange one) and a big belly laugh. I have to tell you that my 8 yo grandson who lives with us asked me one day why I never farted! HMMM - love your painting and the wet spot just makes it more interesting. HPPF
So, what I'd like to know is, do you also wear the "stand up comedian" hat??? You have such a way of telling a story with such humor-love it! And it goes without saying how much I love your illustrations. Happy PPF.
Your posts just insist on comment and participation...I love it! I live with 2 men and a girl, and they are all equally gifted in the "Fart Volume" department...it's a veritable percussion section around our house. LOVE you ICAD program, wish I had the time. Hugs xx
Your post made me laugh and I can't even imagine what was going on in your neighbor's house!!
Lovely artwork, your version is far prettier than the postcard, which was lovely to begin with!
Rita
LOVE your work...always so beautiful and amazing color!
My dog just came to check to see if I'm okay. I'm laughing sooo hard, and since I'm alone in the house, I suppose it's a bit weird. You should be a standup comedian, Tracey. lmao I hate to say you missed your calling because I'm in love with your paintings, so I won't say that. Perhaps it's time for a second job? :D Thanks for making my day brighter, as always.
Poor Mushu...those green-head ant bites can sting for some time afterwards. :(
Hilarious post and lovely art, as per usual. :)
I hope I didn't wake my husband with my laughing over your neighbor, and I do hope your doggies bites get better. Your sketches this week are awesome, I always love to see what you have been making!
Tracey you always do such an amazing job at creating around tea and everyday moments...I love tea, books and flowers so this piece is a delight and that mug painting is another great one!
What a lovely painting! I have always been very enamored of still lifes, and have been known to say that if I could only paint one style I would choose still life, because I could incorporate anything I want into that type of painting. :) It sounds as if you have had a rought week so I hate to say your story made me laugh. But it did. ;-) Thanks so much for stopping my my blog and leaving your kind comment!
Gail
This is one of my favorite pieces of yours thus far, Tracey. The colors scheme is superb. I got your e-mail regarding your new artistic venture, but haven't had a chance to reply. I should be able to do it by tomorrow. Blessings!
Hi just popping by to let you know I grabbed your button it's on this page
http://marywalkerartist.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_25.html
You crack me up, wonder if your neighbour can fart God save the queen, my Dad could!?!! Seriously, it was his party trick. Us kids loved it. Your painting is beautiful!
I love the way you interpreted the card into paint - it is beautiful! Love your unique style :)
Whenever you feel a piece needs a certain "je ne sais quoi" you will have to let Mushu get bitten on the butt by some ants - we all suffer for our art, right?
Wonderful post Tracey. I can't stop laughing. The painting is also wonderful.
lovely illustrations. I love the patterns on the pot especially! :)
Help me...I'm laughing, coughing and laughing some more! Tracey, your post unfailingly make me laugh! I love your painting of the 3 lovely ingredients, tea, books, flowers!
Haha! You have painted quite some picture - and I don't just mean the teapot and flowers, but the one I now have in my head of you painting to a bottom burping symphony!
I find it quite interesting that since Sherlock has arrived in the house, the boys never fart anymore - it's only ever the dog...? Hmmm...
Top of the list is the fact that my neighbor has had bad wind for days now
and I have been painting away to his melodious sound of his bottom burps
which is impressive as we don't live on top of each other
so his volume is up there to carry such a distance
Haha!!! I just adore you! LOVE that you are playing along this year with the SOC!!! xoxo
Life just gets better and better. Do Not under any circumstances light matches if you go outside while the neighbor is outside. I love the way your flowers look, very creative/artistic. Blessings, Janet PPF
OMGoodness.. I missed this post and am ROFL...Wonder if he would have been mortified knowing you could hear him....NAH..lol LOVE this painting. I love tea cups and Tea pots.
