It has started out as a surprisingly great day
well as great as any day can be when you are up at 5.30 am
but early start aside
I have finished the painting of Manon's tea tin which has been on my desk all week
and I didn't go mad painting the patterns on the red tin like I feared I might
I have a whole morning free and clear to paint to my heart's content
and I am snot free which means I am no longer thinking that I am dying
the only thing is that with that worry gone it seems to have opened the floodgates
and I spent about two hours lying in bed last night worrying about all sorts of other things
Now don't judge me because remember it was late and I was sleep deprived
but here are some of the things I was worrying about....
That I couldn't remember where the thing is that I need to send with the other thing
that I couldn't remember the other day, or was it last week
That if they keep breeding smaller and smaller mini horses that they might make one small enough to be classified a tea cup horse ... like a tea cup poodle
and then we might see celebrities carrying them around in carry bags
that perhaps one of those blanket things with sleeves isn't such a bad idea
What if the Kardashians are on tv forever
or if there was a world wide tea shortage and I only have a stockpile to last maybe a year
then I remembered the thing was behind the big box in the cupboard behind the doodad
and considered if the guy who played McGyver is looking old, does that mean that I am also
I then worried that the avocado painting that I did earlier was lacking in structure
which took hold so bad that I actually got out of bed and came down and checked on it
at which point I decided that I was going around the twist
and would go and read until I was sleepy
But that led to its own hassles as I just finished a book earlier
and should I start a new one at 1 am???
and which book do I start... do I just read the next one on the pile
or do I pick something quick because the next China Mielville book is due to arrive
which necessitated me sneaking around the study/library
with my phone acting as a torch to try to find a suitable book
which woke up the dog who came to see what I was up to
though when I asked him what book he thought I should start next he was no help
which was a low point so I headed back to bed with a few books
though didn't read any
because I was busy wondering what the dog would sound like if he could actually speak
I kind of think Mushu would sound like yoda or a surfer dude
which is the last thought I can remember before being being woken by my alarm
the upshot of it all is that I woke up this morning with the imprint of two novels in my face
but managed to find the thing that needed to be sent with the other thing
and I finished Manon's tea painting
so maybe a bit of evening worry isn't a bad thing
though it did get me wondering what sort of things keep other people awake at night????

its lovely....I love the concept, beautifully done!

Wow Tracey...your writing is so entertaining and light..kinda like one of those P.J. Wodehouse mysteries. But that talent surely does not overshadow your creative painting. I will be visiting your blog often. Thanks for sharing. (and get some rest...or not)
A delightful painting and an enjoyable post Tracey!
this from CGranny, "hey, what does Tracey think she's up to, stealing my thought? Wonder how she invaded my brain!" HEhehe. ya, worry about the whole Kardashian thing too and what the hell I"m gonna watch this summer when all the mystery shows end in the next month, oh the horror.
Oh and I haven't read a new book in a WEEK because of just the same problem you had last night. what to read, what to read... (Mom thinks Mushu would sound like Keith Urban... oh the fantasy, hehehe)
You crack me up, I can just see you creeping around, Mushu in tow trying to find a book in the middle of the night. I'm boring with things that keep me up, it's evil computers and new security systems that are touch screens. They are coming to get me!
Love your painting, can't believe you are still all there after painting that pattern though :)
Von
I wish I could remember how I found you, but I've lost that memory along with the names of most of my teachers, even that guy in high school who told me he was giving me a D in Chem because I earned it and I still liked him. I'm not worrying about that though or what I'm going to blog about tomorrow either. I'm just going to keep on being happy that I found you (hey, I think you found me first) and that I'm getting you by email so I don't have to worry about finding you again. Thanks for all the little details on your lovely painting.
oh, too funny! I just worry about boring things like paying the bills and whether or not the sump pump will be able to keep up with all the rain and keep the basement from getting flooded...hum drum stuff. but I could identify with the trying to decide which book to read! Great tea painting...always a joy to see what you are up to!!
I'm just happy to see your beautiful paintings each week and to know I'm not the only one with a worrisome troubling mind. I am reading about how to think productively while I sleep, but I keep falling asleep before I learn a thing. The tins are gorgeous and the avocados are perfect. Love your blog!
Oh it's good to know that it's not just me that wonders around the house under the light from my mobile! (giggle)
You didn't mention stubbing your toes on the coffee table or jumping out of your skin when you saw your reflection in the window though! So I can only think that you're more skilled at these night maneuvers than me ;D
Fantastic painting...and that pattern is just genius...not too involved but loose and so brilliantly done. I would have spent days doodling the pattern (you know me!)
That cuppa looks just perfect for me too...just the right amount of milk. Gotta put the kettle on now!
Have a great weekend :D
such a wonderful post!
great as always!
Happy PPF!

oh my gawd! So gorgeous, so gorgeous! Your work is always to drool all over!
AND You cracked me up "what if the Kardashians are on tv forever?" Perfect! :D
Le tue opere sono meravigliose, infondi vita agli oggetti che rappresenti!

Lovely painting, and I think we all know nights like that. Hope you have a relaxing weekend! Valerie
My goodness, a world tea shortage! What an awful thought! :) you do make me smile, thank you for a bright start to my day .
Wow!!! :D I didn´t think that much last night, only about my neighbour talking lowd (starting around 12 as allways). I put my earplug in, worrying about if they would be too tight for me to hear the alarm this morning, as I had to get up a bit earlier than usual this morning to change the tires on my car. Loved reading about it all! I believe that your stories are great for my english practise! Thank you Trace!
I like your sketches too! See you!
Pets do talk! Well, at least mine do (even if I put the words into their mouths). Right now my cat is begging me to fuss him even though I am doing my best to ignore the crazy purring!
Oh yes, and the paintings are lovely - especially the tea caddy. Your mind is a strange place though... you mean you lay there all that time and I didn't think of Damon once?
ROFLMAO!! You have just brightened my morning - thank you! Except for the part about a tea shortage :O It's your fault I even think things like that you know. After seeing your gorgeous paintings of tea boxes, bags, bins n tins, I started experimenting and trying different ones. Now I'm just sooo hooked! Also - I'm amazed VonnyK thinks 'you're still all there', hmmm, did I miss something? Lol. Onnnly kidding! You're as much 'there' as the rest of us of course!
LOVE the paintings of course and so glad you're snot free - Ugh! Even the word is gross huh? Have a fab Friday and a wonderful weekend :0) Mo x
I am so sorry to have found your misfortune of not sleeping and worrying so much so funny especially the Kardashians bit. Now I have that worry... ;-) Absolutely love the tin painting. My fav of yours so far possibly. Thanks for the humour that kick started my day on a good note. I hope you get some sleep tonight. :-)
Oh my, you do worry over the weirdest things ... ;-) Strange what a mind can come up with when you can't sleep eh. At least that tea painting ended up beautifully!
What a chuckle you have me! It sounds so funny , the things you worry about, but strangely normal at the same time.
You do have an imagination and a way with words.
I've been through the same book issue. Now I just grab my I pad, set the lighting on low and read, magazines, or blogs, or books I have on there. So easy! I have had it fall and hit me a few times.
Wonderful painting too! It amazes me hoe symmetrical you can draw everything. I have trouble with roundness.
I love the Summery color scheme of Manon's tea painting. I'm sorry you had a bad night, but glad everything turned out well. Blessings, my friend!
Oh my goodness this painting looks like it is the cousin of your beautiful blue header!! Stunning!!
As for thinking before bed....All the above and more...watching tv is my only solution to falling asleep peacefully....doesn't help being a night hawk by nature!!
Happy ppf!
Hugs Giggles
Tracey, your painting is wonderful. All of the details are incredible.
So sorry you spent so much time worrying. I do all of my worrying during the daytime so I usually fall asleep pretty quickly - only trouble is I don't sleep too long - probably so I can get an early start on worrying.
looks fab happy ppf
Well I LOVE your painting! And the pattern on the box is perfectly under-stated :0)
And if those are the kind of things you are finding to worry about then life must be really good in the Fletcher-king household, lol!
Meanwhile, it is ME who is now drowning in snot! I wondered if it was possible to catch it through cyber space, because the only person I can think of that I've been in contact with and has a hideous cold is YOU! Ugh - I feel awful! I have headache, neck ache, earache a sore throat an relentless runny nose, a temperature and a chesty cough...
So I am full of woe and self pity at the moment. Humph!
Love your tea tin and avocados, so fresh and happy, despite night worrying! Brilliant! <3
Manon's tea came out lovely Tracey, I am glad you are feeling better now and able to paint again.
Love the reds and blues in Manon's tea painting and it's a great angle on those avocados!
your paintings are amazing as always. No need to worry about the avocados! They are fabulous! I love that your showing your process photos. So fun to pretend to paint along with you. And, do you have the Kardashian thing sorted out? That one keeps me up at night too. :)
Glad you are feeling better and your sketches are quite wonderful. The avocado could go right on my plate now it is so realistic. Happy weekend, Happy PPF
Manon's painting turned out beautifully! It does amaze me the kind of things that play through my brain when I wake up in the night. Our dog doesn't even bother to get up in the night with me anymore... But the kitty does. He's no help either although he usually has lots to say about whatever is on his mind. As for McGyver - yeah, he's getting old
I couldn't sleep last night either. Oh well. Your stories are always so entertaining and yes you are a great artist. Love all these pieces and Manon's painting turned out just awesome. Happy PPF!
hahahahahaaa Kardashians..Can't stop laughing.
The pattern is gorgeous.
Loving that strong diagonal composition in your first painting!!
And I enjoy the balance in the avocado painting and they way is seems to defy gravity.
♥♥♥
Happy PPF!!

oh Tracey you do make me laugh!! This is a brilliant post and I love hearing your stream of consciousness as you lie awake thinking about random things!!
I already know what our dogs would sound like if they could talk - they both have American accents (weird when they're West Highland Terriers) and say things like 'aw momma, when are we gonna go fir a walk' in a sort of high pitched southern drawl. Yes, I possibly do spend too much of my time with only the dogs for company!
I loved that you actually got up to look at your painting!
The tea tin painting is beautiful - the pattern is fantastic - did you leave little white bits or paint in little white bits over the red?
I love your brain! xoxo
Lovely art work as always ~ I have learned through Taoism that worry serves no purpose ~ that is it 'my monkey mind' is in need of control and when it is time to Sleep ~ It is time to sleep. (so that is my mantra) time to..... time to ~ .........
So pleased the snots have gone...sorry they have been replaced with the keep you awake folk! Love your painting and also seeing the process pix.
If dogs could talk, who cares what they would sound like...think of the secrets they could share. Now THAT thought will keep me awake tonight, I just know it.
Loved your art today, as usual. Happy PPF
I just had to let you know that in my head, based on your descriptions, Mushu sounds like Keanu Reeve's character in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
(Why I actually am at the ready with this bit of information, and that I actually think about what my friends pets sound like... Well, that should probably keep me up at night! Ha!)
Love to all...
xo
Kristin
Run round the garden 100 times. Jump up and down 100 times. IN short wear yourself completely out, then you should have no trouble in sleeping... failing all of that...take a pill. Night night and don't let the bed bugs bite... :) x
A very funny quirky post.
What I usually do when I can't get to sleep I warm up a cup of milk with honey and that ultimately does the trick. Luv Manon's Tea painting and all of the rest!
Hope you get some sleep tonight ; )
Oh Tracey, you write so entertainingly, so true , and so funny at the same time!! Glad you're feeling better. Love your illustration as usual!!
Loved this! My mind runs wildly when unleashed at times, too. I could so relate to this!! :):)
Lovely work, too, BTW.
Always a favorite spot to visit on Fridays, Tracey! I like the tea box painting. And you sound a bit like my dh and me. We have to help each other think of things we aren't able to remember. What a fun post!
Don't worry. What beautiful paintings you have. I like that you showed the work in progress. Hope you keep feeling better.
Well I had to laugh several times, thanks hun and wonderful paintings as always HPPF Dxx
Hello friend..gorgeous art..I am loving the color combos of reds..blues, soft-subtle periwinkle purples in there..wowness..I love this! You are awesome!!
Hope you feel more blissful and full of harmony today..no fun..hugs!
Gorgeous post...Happy PPF and PS!!
Victoria
Hahaha it sounds like you did a lot of work organising that brain at 1am and you see it all got sorted the next day! I love what you did with the Old dutch tin and I just can't say thanks enough because you have yet again made my day! Your cup and bits are flying out to you on monday I have not had time to get to the post office.
ManonXx
you are a hoot-and-a-half and that's only in the first paragraph!! like how your post came through google+ which I still don't understand but things like this are hinting that mayBE I will.
enJOY!!
I truly enjoy reading your posts, they are so entertaining. Well, I would have gone mad painting that pattern on the tea tin, that's for sure! I love the avocados!
I expect after all that worrying, even your face is drawn!
As always your fun keeps me smiling, this post even more so. Oh yes, and the artwork is also pretty marvellous.
Whoa so many comments! Don't know if someone mentioned it already but avocados HAVE no structure! Hence.
Love your painting, love your story, you made me smile :)
Saying hi from Paper Saturdays.
Love this weeks painting! Very fresh and snappy. And I'm glad I'm not alone worrying about the kardashians...
You painting is so lovely. I am glad that I am not the only one with random thoughts that keep me awake at night! But no matter what alway remember those blankets with the sleeves are never a good idea! x
i am SO glad to have more to worry about. lol thanks for the smile this morning. happy ppf on monday :)
Goodness, sounds like one of my sleeps! Though, thankfully, the Kardashians have never come up...until now. Despite your rough sleep you've made one beautiful painting. Thanks for sharing your progress shots. Hope you sleep better tonight xx
Hahaha, it is great to have crazy friends - it makes me feel like I fit in somewhere;-)I won't even get started on my middle-of-the-night worries. It may produce such belly laughter that your abdominal muscles might just ache for weeks and then you have something else to worry about. BUT, I love the intensity of that red tin, and glad you showed us how to get it that way... yellow underneath is the trick?
thanks for share..
enjoyed your post tracey especially the painting! sooo beautiful to look at. Glad you're okay now!
Vielen Dank für die Bilder in den verschiedenen Arbeitsschritten...ich liebe all die kleinen Details wie das Muster auf den beiden Boxen...einfach genial ♥ Conny

You resolved your own issue. Yep, we know exactly what, where and when in the morning. Not b/c we worry, but b/c we think about it before we go to sleep. It is always wonderful to wake up to resolutions in the mornings. Love your art. Blessings, Janet PPF
