A Few Things That Suck ...

Now let me start by saying these Peerless paints don't suck
not one little bit, in fact they are the definition of the opposite of sucking
what does suck is that I have the flu, or mega hay fever, or some such snot filled monstrosity
and I am not getting to play with them
I am not the best person when I am sick, and do tend to think that I am possibly dying
at the first sign of a runny nose, but this time I was in danger of actually drowning in the stuff
so I haven't been exaggerating at all
and let me tell you that amount of snot does suck .... big time

What also sucks is that it wasn't over in a day like I expected, or even in two
and the snot rages on in a very unattractive manner
so the paints are lying neglected and deserted
and my earlier in the week drawing frenzy sits neglected
which especially sucks as I started doing a painting for Manon
based on a photo of her Dutch tea she posted on facebook and sent me
and I really want to get some paint on it ... the sketch is screaming for paint
but I don't want to risk ending up with snot in the paint, so it waits forlornly

Even bigger suck is that I made cupcakes yesterday afternoon
in teacup cup cake thingies no less
while I was being uncharacteristically optimistic about my speedy recovery
and I thought I would be catching up with my great friend Tracey Grigc Potter today
and Trace would hugely appreciate these little beauties
and I haven't seen her in weeks so that sucks as well
but alas I am still a bag of snot so a visit is being pushed back to next week
so the cakes are being scoffed by Sinus and Phantom and they totally don't appreciate them

And talking of Phantom
turns out she sucks as a hand model
just getting this photo took forever and then much cropping
I actually believe that the dog may have done a better job
despite the lack of opposable thumbs

So despite being on the mend sort of
I am heading back to Blanket Bay to watch crappy daytime TV
and feel thoroughly sorry for myself and the tea party that never was
and the painting that isn't getting done
Happy snot free paint party Friday to you all ...xx

Here is a less snotty posts for you in case you missed it ...

Sorry to hear you're full of snot, Trace. I detest colds/flus...can't stand that clogged up feeling in the head/sinuses. You have my total sympathy and I hope you feel better real soon. Those teacup cupcakes looks SO cute! Love your sketches, as always! xo

I hope you feel better soon Tracey, being sick does suck big time. We have been having crazy weather, it was so cold this morning!!! And now the sun is out, and I'm sure it will be a stinker again and though the weather forecast does not mention afternoon storms, I suspect one will be thrown in just because it is Friday. The cakes look really yummy, can't wait to catch up soon. xx

Hi Tracey, So sorry to hear that you are not feeling well and that all of your plans were ruined. Hopefully, you will be feeling better soon.

I love your paints and your cupcake looks delicious. I bet your friend was just as disappointed as you were.

Aw, you sound really frustrated! Have a bit more patience, I once read that a cold takes 9 days to be over, but only the first few days are really bad. So it's almost behind you :-)

Ilona Heimböckel said...

You are a wonderful snotty person, lol! Feel better soon! And I feel with you, really! I was lying down for almost two weeks snot and all, but it's getting better day by day. Love your art, sketch and your Cup-cakes are wonderful. Poor girl has to stay still for a few minutes!!! Don't ask what my girl says when I need her as a model.

Happy PPF!

Hugs Ilona

OOh I hope you feel better. Yuk!

I went to the doctors once with Sinusitis and he actually typed the word 'putrid' in connection with my snot. I was rather proud of that... I mean if you're going to feel that bad then it does at least a high class of adjective!

soulbrush said...

Oh no, hope you haven't got anything too putrid (wonderful word for a horrible thing!), get well and yum yum just gobble that syrup- ooh I love that stuff. Happy PPF

ann @ studiohyde said...

Hope snot kingdom has reduced! Sounds gruesome and always feels way badder than it looks, so I am sending lots of sympathy and good wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Catharina Engberg said...

It almost fellt as if I was catching your cold, all the way here to Sweden, when I was reading about all that snot ;)
Hope it turns soon and you get better my friend. The drawing looks wonderful, can´t wait to see the finishing result!
Take a spoon of honey a couple of times a day and let it slowly melt in your moth, it´ll kill the germs.Take care Trace!

Totally love those cupcake tea cups! They are sooo cute! :) It sucks that you're so sick that you cannot paint! I haven't been so sick in some time! I think it's because I hull myself up in my house, and only go out to grocery shop, shop, and take the dog pee. I may be a hermit...

oh no hope you get better soon and glad you havent done all green drawings this week! fab drawings and cute cup cake

I always feel better after reading your witty posts, Tracey, no matter how bad a day I may be having. I love the fun painting of your Peerless paint bottles. I hope you feel better soon and am sending a healing prayer your way.

Sandra Busby said...

Hehehehe! Sorry - I don't mean to sound unsympathetic, but I can't help chuckling! This is what men say when they sniff once, isn't it? So, let's just hope Sinus doesn't catch it!
And let's also hope nothing yucky dripped in to those otherwise yummy looking teacup cakes! Yuk!!
On the upside - you still managed to paint the paints and they are gorgeous, so you have still produced something brilliant, even while you feel crappy. Bravo!! As for daytime TV, I hate it too. But I could watch 24 hours worth of 'Home and Away' in one hit!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you are feeling fine and dandy again in no time :0)

I feel for you girl, between October and January I had three bouts of bronchitis, the flu and then the tummy flu. I was one cranky woman. On the bright side your sketch is quite lovely and your cupcakes look fantastic. Feel better

Christine said...

I hope you feel better soon Tracey, no fun being sick. Your bottles look beautiful as do your teacup cupcakes.

PaintingWrite said...

Aw Tracey, only you could make me laugh at a story of how unwell you are! I can just imagine the ocean of snot - poor you!I hope it is starting to go away and you can get back to painting again soon. Your cup cakes look amazing - I love the tea cup cake holders!

Well your art does not suck nor do your cup cakes.
What does suck is this google dropped my comments.

When you have a cold, you should blow not suck :) I think your Phantom has lovely hands, too. Wish you well and thanks for sharing your wonderful art and humor. It's nice to get so much from you on the germ-free internet.

I so want to try those Peerless paints. I have the paper ones, which I love, but of course I want the others. Hope you can breathe out of both "noses" now (that's what my grandson used to call them). You did a great job of painting the paints - HPPF

Love the bottles of paint and the cupcakes, Tracey. I do hope that tomorrow brings you better health. Usually I just go to bed and it ends faster.

Sorry you are sick - that is the pits!! I think that Phantom is a great hand model - at least her hands are clean which is more than I can say for either of my boys at any given time of the day!!

Neesie said...

Well I hope you've had lots of tea and sympathy by now Trace and are on the road to recovery. It does make you wonder where all that stuff comes from though doesn't it?
I thought the paint bottles were medicine at first. Great painting even when your poorly.
I hope your drawing doesn't catch a cold waiting all there in its nakey! ;)
Adore those tea cup cakes and would love them for my next book club meeting. Going to keep a lookout for them!
Take care and keep drinking...tea or whatever you
fancy...it's medicinal so it's allowed.

Ha - at least the snot didn't make you loose your humor! I do hope that you are feeling better soon - I hate that snot, too! All the best.

jane said...

Your paintings are gorgeous (as always), but I have to say that the use of the words "suck" and "snot" in the same sentence together is more than a little disturbing :P

Hope you're back on top by now xx

Hey Tracy,
Thanks for your visit.
Just dropping in to say your welcome to paint whatever photo inspires you.
Take care,

using kids as models is most frustrating! they whine and move constantly. you have to take at least 50 shots to make sure you have a fighting chance of getting just one that makes it look like it was an effortless endeavor from a cooperative child.

sorry for the snot :)

minnemie said...

Oh man, not sure how I missed this (I was probably too stuck on nostalgia re golden syrup), but I sure do hope the excessive nasal fluids have lessened by now! And much as Phantom may have interfered with a no-nonsense photo session (a bet she had the jitters in anticipation of sinking her teeth into those CUTE cupcakes) I must say she has BEAUTIMUS hands!
