21 Years and 1 Day ....

I know that I said I was going to be absent online due to cleaning
but we headed up the coast to the beach
for a good old break away to get ourselves in the mental space needed
to attack the monumental reorganization that the house needs
and ended up staying a bit longer than we had originally planned
despite the fact that it absolutely bucketed with rain the whole time
in fact that was kind of nice
basically we sat around read books, chilled out, napped
drank tea and I even did a bit of painting of the amazing present I got for Easter
which was a wonderful Tea forte set from one of my favourite haunts, Susan's
and even though I couldn't bring it with me which meant the colours were a touch off
it was nice to fill in the line drawing I had done before leaving
and outside of that we did bugger all which was truly magnificent

I had had grand plans for doing a bit of sketching and painting at the beach
but it really was bloody awful weather
and I am not such a hardy soul that I would head out into rain to paint
so I did some little sketches in my sketchbook using a magazine as inspiration
and discovered there is such a thing as wine flavoured tea in the US of A
I am kind of becoming obsessed at the thought of it
though I am a tad worried it will turn out like the chocolate flavoured tea debacle
and be all sorts of wrong
but I am hoping someone out there has given it a try
and can tell me how it is and save me from obsessing about it

So here we have holiday highlights
spectacularly bleak skies
wet as a shag mutt
sandy flip flops
 and a rather cold pool
but on the plus side I sent Sinus off to take some shots of the beach for me
as I am too precious to get wet remember
and he did a sterling job... like really freakin sterling
so it turns out that my wonderful husband of 21 years and 1 day has quite the artistic eye
and it is an awesome thing that after all this time he can still surprise me
and nice he took all of these on our anniversary... very cool way to remember it

Less fab is that he has started constructing cabinets as I type which means the pressure will be on for me to start culling and sorting
which is enough to make me wish I was back at the beach even if it is still raining

Happy 21 years I only lasted 23, with him 25.... I congratulate you!!! Quite a feat being with anyone that long even if they are truly the best!!

Your tea forte is awesome... I showed cupcake...she is tea obsessed and came home today with pomegranate cranberry, berry kiwi colada. Last week it was youthberry and wild orange blossom which cost her an arm and leg. All from Starbucks sister company Teavana!

Hope you enjoy another 21 years!! Great photos Sinus!!

Hugs Giggles

Wow, that beach looks amazing. Shame about the rain..but if I remember Oz, you have warm rain not the freezing your whatsit's off rain that we have. So yes you are a complete an utter woos.. :) love the sketches...shame you were to whimpy to lug yourself to the beech and paint in the rain. :) am feeling your pain though of culling and sorting...I'd try and hide under a chair if I was you. :)xx

Being at the beach, in any weather whatsoever, is FINE by me! Books with a water view ... lovely!
(Do tell me that's the Sunshine Coast? It is, isn't it?)
Good luck with the cleaning and culling :)

oh, I love that yellow-orangey colour! Looks like the sun! I know, the weather has been whacky lately. Must admit I'm getting really tired of all that rain ....

NowI have to spend the day mulling over what a Tea forte is, and whether there is such a thing as a Tea weako (not knowing the Italian word for weak).
Always good to be back home though. Happt late anniversary wishes. Only four to go to the first Biggie Anniversary.

Reading, sketching and generally chilling sounds totally fab to me. Great photos and thank you for sharing. The wine flavoured tea sounds positively awful, would rather have the bottle and for true decadence pop in a straw...........

Loving your new sketches Tracey.
Happy PPF, Annette x

Happy Anniversary!!! What a lovely way to spend it!
I LOVE your paintings - I doubt I'd have been so good!
Even though your weather was pants - I imagine ours is even MORE pants! Still desperately awaiting the Spring to finally come. We have gone from freezing cold and snow, to milder but gale force wind and rain!!! :0)

What magical photos and your latest works are fab as always....I also love love love the shoes on your profile!!! super pretty!!!!

Although I am a mountain person, not an ocean person, I do love your scenes from your vacation at the beach. There is something reassuring about seeing the waves constantly crashing on the shore. Your paintings are wonderful as they always are. I admire how you can make anything into an art object and do it beautifully.

Gloria j Zucaro said...

Tracey, glad you got a reprieve from the culling! Your drawings/paints have life in them which is why you are spectacular! Your husbands pictures are wonderful, too. I had no intent to "art" while on my visit with the family trip for 2 weeks, and succeeded! I sometimes need to totally change direction.

WrightStuff said...

Ooh a vacation! That's just faberoonie, even if it did rain. Sometimes a change of scenery is all you need (and someone lovely with you of course!)

Wonderful painting and wonderful Fotos. What could I say, both is looking perfect.

A vacation AND an anniversary - what could be better? Well, maybe a little sun. You did make the best of it though and reading and lazing about sounds heavenly.

In fact, it sounds so good, I'm going to go on vacation too! We're headed off for 2 weeks and will share all when we get back. We're headed to sunny places and I can't wait to leave the gray of Seattle in the spring....

love seeing your beautiful watercolor sketches each week Tracey! A very happy anniversary!!! Glad you had a nice weekend at the beach despite the weather. The beach is one place where I can be happy no matter what the weather-and the only place I'd brave going out in for some photos :)As I'm in the US of A and like tea and love wine I will be searching for this wine tea you speak of :):)

Get aways are great either rain or shine. Seems sometimes, rain and cozying up inside is really what is needed. Congrats on lots of fabulous years together and here's to the many more to come.

sounds perfect! sometimes it's nice to have a gloomy, rainy week (like the one we are having in north jersey) -- gives you permission to curl up & hunker down with a good book. glad to have you back!

Wine flavored tea? Ugh, sounds terrible! How could someone come up with that?? Just wine is so much better...

Do I spot Peerless watercolor paints on your palette?? I've been wanting them since I saw them on Jane Davenport's blog but didn't know if I'd like them or not - -

Lovely, lovely photos and a great tea link, I love tea almost as much as painting :)

beautiful illustration of your present - your obession with tea does make me laugh!! It sounds like a perfect get away even if it did rain the whole time. sometimes that gives you the perfect excuse to sit around and really chill instead of feeling like you should be constantly on the go.
great photos that Sinus took. It's very handy to have a husband who's good at photography - S just took some fab close ups of the little lambs and a pheasant in the field beside our house - my next couple of painting subjects sorted!!

Amazing sketches as always - I would run to the beach too if I had to reorganize my whole house- ugh - good luck. Happy PPF xox

I was just telling someone how I love gray rainy days, but I wasn't on a beach vacation, like you. Not the best weather, but you sure made the best of it. Your husband is great with a camera. Happy 21st, and one day!! Yay!!

Chocolate flavored tea? Yuk.
Ditto on the wine flavored tea. i'll have REAL wine, thank you very much.
ok, Sinus man has quite the eye!! Beautiful pics.
Tea Forte... don't you LOVE the packaging? i swear i hated to drink the tea, those little lined up triangles were so friggin' pretty to look at.
The break you took sounds wonderful. Sometimes rain isn't a bad thing. Wonderful illustration Tracey. xox

Wine flavored tea... I just do not know about that, Trace... I totally believe it possible, but...uh-uh... However, I really like your red handbag... or whatever you call it in Australia. Here (you may recall) they call them pocket books, although they neither look like books not fit in your pocket!;-)

Love the orange bag, your flip flops and the awesome beach pics! I love, love rainy weather...just waiting for monsoons to start here...

They did take great shots of the beach. My favorite is the one with the path to the sea. Lovely. No matter if it was raining, I am still super jealous that you have a beach near enough to *go* to. Haha. I would love to go to the beach right now, even in the rain. I mean, I am from OREGON. Rain rain rain. :)

Happy Anniversary to you and 'Sinus', Trace! As always, awesome art! Nice pics too...I yearn for the beach now. It sounds like you had a lovely break away. We are both in house organising mode as I just posted about assembling flat-pack furniture too.

So, can I safely say you brought all the rain back with you? ;)

Have a great weekend! xo

Unknown said...

First, Happy Anniversary!! Sorry it rained at the beach, but hubby did get some gorgeous shots to remember it all. Love your magazine sketches and the Tea Forte! Never heard of wine flavored tea...I imagine it could be very good?

I live on the coast. The beach is 1/2 mile from my house. But it is the Oregon coast and it is cold, freezing wind I would rather do house work. LOL
Very nice shots

Happy anniversary - I am amazed that my husband and I will have our 30th in June (and we were both married before - of course, I was a child bride!) Your husband does indeed have an artist's eye - those pictures of the beach are wonderful. Sounds like it was a no pressure holiday - the best kind (although a sunny day here and there doesn't hurt). Beautiful sketches - HPPF

I think the beach is a fabulous alternative to cleaning (I would do absolutely anything to get out of cleaning though!)

And as much as I love the beach in summer, I am a huge fan of winter beach holidays - the grey skies! It sounds like an idillic time away - I am envious! x

Happy anniversary. Gotta love this school holiday weather. At least you were at the beach. My little miss has been sick for the entire holiday, so nothing for us. Love your tea forte and I have to say I love chocolate tea. I have two sugars in it and it leaves a yummy sweet chocolate after taste. Good luck with the cleaning (yuk).

Happy Belated Anniversary to you and Sinus
Shame about the weather but then look at those fabulous photos Sinus took plus you were able to use the conditions to your advantage.
Don't like the sound of the sorting and I too will have to shake my toosh when I get back...thinking about running away so I don't have to face the impending move :(
But then looking at your work makes me smile :D
By the way tea and wine mixed - nah! Not in my book!
