Trying to run a greener household is doing my head in
I am using all these biodegradable, save the waterways type products
and go through bi carb and vinegar like nobody's business
and the house is apparently clean at the end of a cleaning session
you will note I said clean and not tidy
and for the record dust bunnies are like pets
how could I destroy them when they are having such fun
hiding and playing under the cabinets and sofa
but aside from wanting to form the Preservation of Dust Bunnies Society
I have run into another problem
At the end of the day the house just doesn't smell right
I always felt that a bathroom in particular was only clean
when the smell of bleach had singed all nose hair from your head
after all does nose hair matter in the grand scheme of things???
I think not ...
and I loved my feet having the slight burning tingle from standing in bleachy water
and the bleach has gotten rid of your pesky fingerprints
which have always limited my possible career as a bank robber
and at the end of a good session that brain blasting smell meant a job well done
but alas I have had to wave goodbye to my dear Domestos and White King
and have to just trust these green products when they tell me they are working
so my new cleaning involves using the green stuff
and then sitting down and drawing and painting the bottles
I am thinking I can gaze at their bleachiness and pretend I have no nose hairs
and maybe that will induce the same sense of domestic satisfaction
Not that a lot of cleaning has been done in the last few days
mainly because I have been trying to get to some unfinished canvases
and I can happily report that I finished one
it is the teeniest, tiniest canvas I own, but I am taking any finish at this stage
so the prawns are done and on the wall awaiting some possible finishing touches
but I am still declaring it done all the same
the other five are still in various stages of not even close to being done
but I am putting this progress shot up in the hope that it shames me into finishing it off
which means that once this is posted I am going to make a pot of tea and get busy
So I am taking my hairy nose and going to get my painting butt into gear
hope you all have an awesome weekend... xx

you always make me smile, beautiful paintings!! LOVE the blue kitchen aide!!!
Hi there Eco Friendly Cleaning Warrior....loving all your wonderful paintings. Happy PPF, Annette x
LOVE it like always!! I need to make my husband do more cleaning with the bleach - he has a veritable plethora of nose hairs that I wouldn't mind gone!! Why is it that the girls are always sacrificing our nostril integrity and the boys are not??!!
LOVE your art, Trace! And I hear ya on the nose burning when using bleach. I usually cough and splutter too. Funnily, like you, that smell is what I equate with the 'squeaky clean' feeling. I know I need to switch to green products very soon as I try to lead a more simple and minimalist life...excepting art supplies, of course. hehe
I know the dilemma with not having the chemically clean smell... but just keep thinking about how you are adding your little bit to preserve the environment. And that you do still have nose hairs. :)
Happy PPF!
The prawns are fantastic! The bleach bottles are great too. It is funny how their stingy smell somehow feels more clean. I am glad to hear about the Preservation of Dust Bunnies Society, I would like to initate the US charter. (Except that sounds like a lot of work!!)
Well seeing as you still have the bottles, you could hold them under your nose while you use the green stuff and feel like you used to...that would help the nose hair issue, but not the tingly feet...
On to your art work, I take any finish as a finish no matter how big or small, it is one more off that long list! AS for the mixer, the stainless steel bowl is looking fabulous! Could almost see my reflection in it!
I think there are also people who like to sniff glue....but I know what you mean, and I still use 'wicked'cleaners! Valerie
Very beautiful painting.
Have a nice weekend and Happy PPF
Haha, I'm having the same problem with using the green products ;-) You'll get used to it. Love how your paintings are progressing.
Who else in the world would think of painting a Domestos bottle ........... And making it look good, even if it does look a bit of a strong bully next to that wan-faced white bottle.
Your prawns are so colourful and attractive that even as a veggie they look better than when they were swimming around.
It's always good to 'start the day the Tracey way'. You start my day off with a smile, thanks.
I'd trust the green guys, I mean it's for a good cause the betterment of our planet. Do they smell minty? Or like fresh mown grass. Either would be better than bleach smell and hey, better for your lungs!
You will get used to it. If it were me and I cleaned again in six months I'm sure I'd be over missing the bleach and enjoy combing my nose hairs once more and you will too!
BTW I love the bright blue mix master!
I HATE the smell of bleach! I'm a fan of 'Cotton Fresh Flash with Fabreeze', myself :0) It smells just like clean laundry...
And it'sn funny that you can make a bottle of bleach look so appealing, lol! Only you could do that!
I LOVE that prawn Canvas! What size is it? Is it acrylic? I just think it's fabulous! :0)
I know what you mean about being greener. Funny how we need the smell of bleach to tell us things are clean. Love the shrimp painting.
Prawns look fabulous and the Kitchen Aid WIP looks spectacular - awesome reflections!
I bought some green bathroom cleaner and now I should go back to the store to have the bottle refilled, kind of inconvenient... well, we only have this one planet! :)
You had me laughing at your title and even more so as I read your post. Dust bunnies can make wonderful pets.
Your paintings are wonderful. I love the color of the prawns and the bright blue of your WIP.
Have a wonderful weekend!
LOVE your illustrations !! Yes, dust bunnies are my pets too :) I also know what you mean about the bleach thing-I grew up being told about and witnessing repeated use of "the real smell of clean". I'm not completely away from it but am trying. Thanks for a fun post!
Ms Warrior ~ you are divinely creative and waging war with all your lovely creations with fun messages ~ ^_^ ~ enjoy.
Love the bright orange of the prawns! And that blue kitchen thingy. I hate cleaning, though, green or bleachy, which just reminds me that the bathroom needs to be scrubbed...
I don't like the smell of bleach so I do appreciate alternative ways of cleaning.
Interesting post, thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Xxx
Amen Sister! It's hard to believe things are clean if you aren't woozy from the fumes.
Your prawns are fantastic, I had some last night that looked exactly like your painting!
I enjoy your blog so much, thanks for sharing. I thought of you yesterday. We have a fun store (in Colorado) called Cost Plus World Market. It has stuff from all over the world, furniture, knick knacks, food, decorations, and just stuff. They have your Jet Puff Marshmellow creme. That's not a brand I see in the grocery.
I think the blue mixer painting is great, looking forward to seeing it finished.

Wow, Tracey, the prawns painting is gorgeous! And when we moved to the country where we have a well and septic tank system, I have not used much bleach. But every now and then I just have to use a little. It just smells so clean.
Glad you're preserving our beloved dust bunny population. I think you can get green cleaners with eucalyptus or tea tree oil that might burn your nose -- if that helps. Thanks for going green and not spending so much time cleaning that you don't have time to paint your prawns. Looks like you're making great progress on your canvases. The prawns look delicious!
Yes, the 'bleachy' smell does seem to equate with 'clean' doesn't it...love the bottles, and the canvases, and well, maybe could have done without the nose hairs but you are true to yourself and do make me laugh!! at least you have done some cleaning...me, not so much...
haha you're so funny! I like your comment about clean not tidy. LOL
Happy PPF
Love seeing your works in process, Tracey.
Your blog posts always make me smile, too!
Knew this was going to be a good one just by it's title. :)
♥♥♥
Happy PPF!!

I burst out laughing when I read your title, and it got funnier as I went along. Have always loved your sense of humor. :)))
Lovely pieces this week Tracey!
We've had smelly drains this week too, which have given me a headache. Trying to sort them out- so I know exactly where your head is- and thos enose hairs too. Bu I do love the paintings of the mixer and the kitchen utensils. Very WOW. Happy PPF.
My gosh I always love reading what you have to say! So wonderful! I always leave with a smile on my face! Have a lovely weekend too and I too shall try to switch to green stuff. :D Absolutely beautiful artwork! God Bless!
I had to do a double take on the bleach then not your usual tea. Don't be drinking this stuff :))))))
Tracey did I say it before I THINK YOU ARE FAB!

Bleach and I are NOT friends so I must wear an armored paint shirt for when it attacks... I can not even count the many pieces of clothing bleach ruined over the years!! It's a definite love hate relationship!! Like you I love knowing things are clean. Except for toilets I too have switched to green products.... I love green works...very effective and powerful!! Great illustration of the bottles and those prawns look wonderful. I am lovin that kitchenaid mixer...I am going to buy one as soon as I decide on the color...will probably get neutral stainless steal...but I would love an orange one!!
Hugs Giggles
ha, funny enough i know exactly what you mean. I tried using vinegar to clean but having the house smell of old chip shop was not what i had in mind!! Great painting of the prawns and i'm looking forward to seeing the completed canvasses for the other paintings.
The prawns are wonderful! Everything I have finished lately has been tiny but I love the feeling of accomplishment from proclaiming even the smallest ones finsihed and done.
My family could never handle clorox or strong cleaners so I used to put a little wintergreen oil or grapefruit oil (my favorite) in a spray bottle with water and give the room a few spritzes after cleaning so it smelled nice and fresh without aggravating our sinuses. I need to start that again, since mostly the house smells like dog these days.
You are a girl after my own bleachy heart! I love that pungent scent. It delivers an assurance that the green bottles, bless their hearts, just cannot yield.
Ok - aside from terminal laughter - I struggle with being "green" in my cleaning - the bathroom needs bleach in my opinion - I have too many nose hairs anyway. But I have found that vinegar and newspaper are the best things to clean glass with. Your green" sketches are great. Love the prawns. HPPF
ha ha great funny post..I hate the smell of bleach! fab drawings as ever
I LOVE the prawns! Happy belated PPF!
