Wagamama Monday...

Jenn over at APR asked us to think about what we treasure this week
which got the old brain matter overheating a bit
I started thinking maybe it was an opportunity to show that
I am a little deeper than a shallow puddle
but at the end of the day I really am as shallow as I suspected
which is just fine and I am quite happy being puddle girl

I could, and probably should, talk about all the things I am grateful for
and my family, and great friends and all that
and they are awesome... like awesomely awesome
but it wouldn't sound quite like me
because I tend to show my love with a bit of light taunting
sprinkled liberally with a good old fashioned teasing
probably because I treasure people who don't take themselves too seriously

Which is just as well with my life because it is anything but serious
I like that Sinus makes me laugh every day
and still tells the same unfunny jokes after 20 something years together
still asks me to pull his finger and that he laughs until he snorts things through his nose
at the lamest jokes and tv shows every made

That he takes such joy in hiding from the poor dog just so he can jump out and scare him
and I end up yelling at both him and the dog to go and play outside as I am trying to get dinner
because it is endlessly hilarious to run around the kitchen apparently
and that both Sinus and Mushu fall asleep together on the sofa and snore in unison
 every single night

I treasure that Phantom is not a snotty teen and instead is so bloody random
that I never know what is going to come out of her mouth next
that I may walk past her room and see that she is sitting with a model of a brain in hand
while she reads Shakespeare to the dog
why the brain you may ask
well because she was reading the world's dumbest dog Hamlet's soliloquy
and didn't have a skull and figured the brain was close enough
and why does she have a model of a brain??? well doesn't everyone
the brain is ok, but the pregnant pelvis is just freaky ... like really creepy freaky
and don't even get me started on her psycho eating habits
the random bizarre questions, the current obsession with listening to Russian chants
and her ability to move so quietly that she could creep up on a ninja
and scare the bejeezus out of it

But all these joys aside
I treasure that I can go and have lunch with Sinus on a Monday
at a yummy noodle place like Wagamama
and he lets me have the last gyoza
we fight over the edamame and about him stealing my drink
and always end up eating the good bits off each other's plates
all while we laugh and catch up and talk rubbish
and have a good old  fashioned gossip

So today's paintings are all about our lunch on Monday
Wagamama and edamame and the condiment box
all treasures in their own way... xx

I'm so totally in love with your family Trace, is that a bad thing?? Hehehe. You and Sinus give me hope that good loving relationships actually exist. Now, does he have a cut brother?? Rock on, girl!
Love,
Jenn

Wagamama... mmmm.... don't get me started. Hate to brag and all that, but I was an early adopter - used to go to their very first restaurant when I worked in London. Just round the corner from where we worked, so very handy.

I do love to see the daily illustration of your life. You should start a blog...

It's clear that you treasure every moment of life, and of being together as a family and doing silly things. And that's as it should be, and we treasure reading your tongue in cheek reports on it. Great memories to treasure, rock on.

I have nothing of substance to ad here, but I love it, and the paintings! I would for real hang them all over my house and have an obsessive shrine to you and your awesomeness!!

Hahaha... You never fail to give me a chuckle when I stop in for a cuppa (all be it always a drawing of one). Your sketches are perfect! As is all that you treasure. I'm with you on the subject of people who don't take themselves too seriously. Life is just too short! And I just adore Phoebes! She manages to make me laugh even though I have never heard or seen her! ;0D

Loved to read your post and have a laught of what you are doing in daily life. And I agree; too serious people are no fun.
One question: What did you use to make the thin white lines in your sketch?
Wish you a lovely time until next post! See you!

Love that you could have a lunch date! I long to travel to your world and have lunch with you - too bad my teleporter is broken. xoxo

Love the sketches! I told my husband when we first started dating that I was basically a "vain and shallow girl!" Always better to have someone you can laugh with:)

You crack me up! Laughter is the best, isn't it? People who snort through their nose when they laugh are the best kind of people. (If I do say so myself...) Love your drawings, the green is so inviting.

Yes to Wagamama! We love this restaurant too!

There is nothing wrong with being a 'puddle girl' and if you don't mind I'm going to save that quote and treasure it myself! :)

I guess you can be called a frequent noodler now then. I'm with Jenn, I love your family, they're as nutty as me! I'll have to get Mr Maths to take me to Wagamama's, if he'll ever stop working. Lovin the pics as always. Did you sketch that while having lunch??

It's always so entertaining to follow your twisty little brain as you write your 'stream of consciousness' stuff. But you know what I really took away from today's post - aside from your adorable family? It reminded me that sometimes the best treasures are the little things. For most of us our thoughts turn to topics like friends, family, the expected biggies. It's nice to be brought back to earth and realize that there are a hundred little things every day to treasure. So I'm going to look at all those dust bunnies with new eyes because I know they're caused by not sweeping which means I was busy doing something much more fun!!

Hey puddle girl....I got such a funny picture in my head when I read that you think of yourself as a shallow puddle and I'm hoping that you may have seen it too!
Let me explain...
It's from the show 'Vicar of Dibley' with Dawn French and there was an episode when she was in love and in a country lane she jumped into a puddle, but it wasn't a puddle at all...it was so deep she disappeared! I think thats your puddle lady!
If you haven't seen the series then you will wonder what this woman is rattling on about! Ho hum...so what's new! ;D

I always have such a wonderful time reading your posts and you never cease to make me giggle, plus of course I look with amazement how you can make every day items like condiments into a stunning piece of art!
Have a wonderful week and hey...send me some rain please...just a little will do! xoxo
