Painting my new supplies is becoming a bit of a thing with me
and it makes perfect sense to me when it comes to paints
because it means I can test the colours in a more interesting way than doing a test page
I must admit I am sort of a work it out as I go along sort of person
it is like learning a card game, I know some people need the rules explained before they start
but I am a sort of deal me in and teach me as I go person
which probably explains why I am rubbish at cards
and why Phantom and Sinus Man are not fans of playing cards with me
but I think they are a bit limited in their thinking
I think it is quite the philosophy for all sorts of things
except maybe cooking
the throw it all in thing has resulted in some god awful disasters over the years
When it comes to testing new tubes of watercolours it works a treat though
and it was fun to familiarise myself with my newest babies
I also put the new colours to the test on a bit of a fun sketch this Sunday
Cindy over at Cottage Remnant planned a tea party for the change of season
she set a lovely table and invited people to a virtual tea party
and as I have the matching tea cup set I thought I would play along
I wanted to paint in the lovely table she had set as well
and it was fun to get back to painting a tea cup
I realized it had been quite a while since I had done one
and have to admit I had blocked out what pesky things rims can be
but it was a fun sketch and I might need to do a few more of the tea cups that are stashed on the shelves here in the studio
Not today though as I have a desk full of half finished things that I want to get to
as it is shaping up to be a busy week

I love the look of your new paints, and your tea cups are brilliant, I'm right there with you about the rims, I did a few tea cups in the fall and my gosh the rim is the hardest part, you do hem beautifully!
I love love love your tea cup and table and also love your paint tubes. Very clever way to test paint.
I know about those pesky rims. lol You did a great job on them tho. Hope you do more of them.

It makes me smile to click on your page and see your beautiful drawings in that perfect shade of blue on the header and that is before I look down at your Sunday sketches!!I love the art tubes and then I see the teacups, and really love them. Tea cups are so special to me, from my Grandmother and Mother, who both loved to set the table fancy and use their good dishes with the teacups of course. Thanks for sharing. You do beautiful work.. Love your tea cup, the rims are pesky aren't they, funnily enough I did a couple of tea cups for a tea party link up that I visit on Tuesdays.
I love your painting of tea cups, however not a fan of the fragile little one sip pain in the arse can't get my finger in the hole china! Somehow my cupcake is in love with them...so the big box of my mother and grandmothers tea cups have been unpacked and are now taking up space in my cabinet that once displayed pretty things!! I am a mug gal...they have to have a whimsical, or funky pattern and be able to fit a few fingers in the hole comfortably, or I'm sad !!
Love the painting of paints too!! You rock...even though you're on the other side where tea cups come in!

The balance of the design in your last painting is perfect ..... But who am I to say that to the 'master'. At least you know I noticed it and appreciated it. The design of a painting is so hidden-yet-obvious but it is what makes all the difference. Lovely fragility about the painting. And yet ... I have to agree with Giggles and now pick up my china mug withe pink roses on it to drink my breakfast tea.
I am a huge fan of your tea cups! Loved seeing this one...wish I could paint like this! Admiration! Hats off!

I think that I am going to visite my folks and take alot of photos to send to you. my grand ma has collected A LOT of egg cups. Would that be something for you to paint? She got HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of them. And coffecups too.
Beautiful teacup! It makes me want to set a lovely table and invite some sophisticated tea drinking friends over to share it. Too bad I don't have either of those, a tea set or sophisticated friends.

Gorgeous tea cups which would look much more at home in our country cottage than the modern mugs we currently use!! I love how you painted your paints and I agree with you on the learn as you go along thing. I try to read up on things sometimes but usually am too impatient and just want to get started. I have made some great meals with the throw a bit of this and that in though!!

Your beautiful tea cups always make this coffee drinker want to brew a cup of tea. In fact...I think I will go do that right now. I have some loose white tea I really do like.... :)

Last night I dreamt I was on Masterchef (do you have that show?). Only I was completely unprepared and making it up as I went along, then I got in fight with another contestant because she said I didn't help her enough - ughrr it's a COMPETITION... She was someone I went to school with and haven't seen in 30 years....
I'm the same - learn as I go! Sometimes it royally back fires - but sometimes it works a treat :0)

Only you can make paint tubes look DELICIOUS! Like it may jnust be appropriate to squeeze some into your tea and go "YUM" ;-)

I even have a beautiful china cup and saucer I could have entered...but hey this way I know my drawing would have been perfect (all in my mind) but in reality my rims would have been so dodgy...I'd have probably dribbled tea everywhere!
