A Sketchy Sort of Week ....

Gotta love balls
Chocolate balls that is
Lindor balls are amazing little packets of deliciousness
but have to say they are a pain to paint
or maybe it was the fact that I was eating them as quick as I painted them
and the resulting sugar haze meant I had a less than steady hand
but whatever the case these babies gave me all sorts of hassles
and ended up being a bit sketchy and messy
but it has been a sketchy and slightly messy sort of week
and the subject does fit in nicely with the whole Valentines theme

I have the new computer up and running a treat
largely helped by tech support in the form of tea and chocolate
and it was a good, though extremely time consuming task
to clean up the documents and photos from my old lap top before I moved things over
turns out I am quite the pack rat when it comes to keeping rubbish on my hard drive
but now I have this lovely streamlined machine which will give me more room to work
not to mention I can now find photos, scans and documents
without the habitual scroll down, shake head, scroll back up, have a bit of a cuss dance
that usually accompanied any sort of retrieval

the down side of all this is that I had little time to paint
and pretty much all I have to show for the week is the balls
and this sketch of the last bloom on one of  my agapanthyus
this bloom hung on through the storm of a few weeks ago
which is quite the example of resilience
but this week it finally gave up its last few blooms
so I quickly grabbed the sketchbook and painted it in
which means the last two pages have both been based on blooms in my garden
which is kind of a nice thing

Most importantly though, I see a free and clear week ahead of me next week
which means lots of studio time
which is almost as good as chocolate
can't wait to get back to some paint
Happy Paint Party Friday all...xx

PS This amazing photo taken by the lovely Lori Moon
arrived to add to my wall in the studio
plus she sent me some Tombow markers to try... how cool is that... thanks Lori...xx

There has only been one post this week due to the computer change over
but here is the link in case you missed it...

OMG, those don't look sketchy, they look delish! I'm so hoping you got a huge bag of those little suckers for your endless enjoyment.

Oh, I forgot to comment on the hand post, that totally inspires me to get out the pens and draw, draw, draw. Which is a good thing, since the moleskine and cahier got here this morning, YAY. Now I have to figure out the best pen to use in the Cahier that won't show through the pages. Pretty sure that won't be any kind of marker or "flow-y" pen like microns or the solo cool and great to write on anything, Micador. THanks for those, it's so great to have a pen that actually writes over watercolors and twinks etc.

Happy Valentine's Day my chocolate loving friend. Please send hugs and kisses to all, even Mushu, lol.
Much love,
xxoo
Jenn

Computers eh? Darn pesky things we can't live without. I got me a new phone ... it's very fancy and I shall endeavour not to drop this one down the toilet!

Love Lindor choc - yummy yummy yum yum. I would have just eaten the whole lot and not drawn any!

Lindor balls ARE the best! I'd rather have them than meatballs any day! LOVELY blooms in your garden and your work inspired by them is gorgeous. Can't wait to see ALL the amazing work you will be bringing us next week!

I used to love those lindor balls before I stopped dairy. The way the middle was kind of cold and liquidy - lush!! Wish they did them in dark chocolate. Glad you got your pc all sorted. Ours is playing silly buffers at the mo. Needs a load deleted of it. Early happy ppf!

Oh the chocolate balls are wonderful yummy and looking so delicious!!! And the agapanthus looks so beautiful too! Enjoy the last bloom! I know that feeling very well. My agapanthus is currently waiting in our garage for the spring and so do I. Thank you so much for showing me yours while mine is still hibernating.

I'm very impressed by your strength Trace, I couldn't do it and painted the wrapper after eating my choc. We don't get the Lindt balls as they stick to Charlies beak too much, have to have Rochers, just for him (not that I'm complaining, yum). I really love those colours so bright and yummy. Your agapanthus are gorgeous.
Hope you were showered with flowers and chocs for Valentines. Von

I'd be frantic if I actually had to transfer the computer stuff myself. I leave it to my husband and listen to him cussing. I have to admit I do some too when looking for pictures. I keep naming the files with names I think I'll surely remember but don't.
I like the chocolate sketch. Messy sketching appeals to me although it doesn't really look all that messy to me.

Lindt Balls are my favorite, absolute favorite chocolate....I get them every year in my stocking at Christmas....the way they melt in your mouth...Mmmmmmmmm.

p.s. I've never heard of agapanthyus before, they are a very pretty flower.

Everything looks always so cool and fresh and juicy! I don't think I can paint chocolate, it would be gone before I even find the paint hahaha

Really great chocolate balls portraits, Tracey! I am so glad your traumas are over(back to school, damaging storm, freaky computer troubles) and you will be able to feel more relaxed as you are able to paint and post in your usual routine.

Great chocolate balls. . . you painted them perfectly. Now if I could just reach in and pluck one off the table. Good on you with the computer. Yep, I've drawn another eye and lips. . . Keeping up with drawing and or doing art every day, thank you for asking. Blessings, Janet PPF

Oh yes, Lindor are lovely and it's a fab 'sketchy' work of art. It's 9.30 am here and I'm wondering if it is too early to eat chocolate..?

artfullycarin@gmail.com said...

Sketchy...ha! They're fab. Better an unsteady hand than giving up chocolate or tea *shudder* (I'm a real tea caddy too)

Lindor chocies are my favorite! Melt in the mouth little truffles of joy! Yum! And I love your sketches - all of them! No flowers here at the moment - well, apart from a few Snowdrops. Can't wait for some splashes of colour! :0)

mmmm Lindt balls - they even have new flavours this year! White choc is my fave but the new coffee, raspberry and mint are lovely.

Gorgeous painting of the agapanthus, white flower (gorgeous and in your garden? awesome!) and the chocolates.

Jez said...

Those choccies look wonderful, with the bright colours and the delicate 'butterfly wings' of the paper twists. The flowers, as always, are stunnung.

Hi Tracey. Chocolate is hard to resist and when it's in the house, it just doesn't last long. Love how you painted them. There isn't anything better than chocolate and flowers, well maybe.:) Great job as always.:)

I may need to go out to get some Lindor chocolate balls! Your flower paintings are fabulous... you make me want Spring to hurry and get here so we have some luscious blooms too. Happy PPF!

Perfect rendition of the balls. I hate getting a new anything! You can do it I know you can. Enjoy the chocs too. Happy PPF.

Terri Morse said...

Okay Tracey...just when I stopped thinking about chocolate for awhile, you have to paint those scrumptious little morsels and put them under my nose! Now I want them. Sorry I didn't warn you about perils of new computers - it's more loving to allow others to learn for themselves, isn't it? (NOT!!!!) I think the worst part of getting a new computer is that none of your passwords are stored on it. Every time you go to a site you visit regularly, you have to remember your password all over again. It's like having your identity erased! Oh well, I'm glad you survived the transition. Your garden sketches are beautiful - I'm already anxious for Spring to arrive!

Those are my favorite chocolates -- I would have probably eaten them all BEFORE i even painted them so kudos to you! Love your purple flowers! Happy PPF!

Faye said...

How totally delicious, Tracey! I once used the wrapper of one scanned to the computer and altered with photoshop. It made a wonderful background for some digital work. And the flowers are beautiful as well. I am being forced to consider replacing my 10 year old eMac and I dread it. You may have set me back a year or two. LOL!

Beautiful Tracey! love your chocolates. I have not try them yet, but they look so good to eat. The flowers are GORGEOUS!!!

Have a great day!

I love everythng you sketch but especially chocolate balls. I actually have not brought any chocolate home from the store for a whole week. I think that is a record.

Thank you for your kind words about my gratitude posts. It has become a practice that I am really glad I stuck with. Have a wonderful week filled with paint!!

Unknown said...

Oh, have mercy. I have tried just cleaning up my photos and they all ended up in "trash". Needless to say I haven't approached ThAT again, until I have a free week or more. Good for you to get the job done!

Yummy, I simply love Lindor chocolate balls. They just melt on your tongue. I would have devoured all of them before even able to paint them.
Computers can be such a pain, but if they work correctly it's heaven. I hope heaven will stay for you.

Lovely flowers and now I am craving chocolates! Beautiful work Tracey!

I must admit that I've never been a fan of Lindt chocolates. I was always a Ferrero Rocher kinda gal. Of course, now that I'm transitioning to vegan, it can only be Green and Black's for little old me.

LOVE your sketches! :)

Glad to hear your new computer is up and running blissfully. I'm a terrible hoarder of files and, half the time, I can't find a thing. lol

Enjoy your weekend, Trace ~ xx

Oh, I really like the composition and lines in the Lindor balls. It lends them and nice, bright sketch quality, and the addition of those subtle umber(?) lines is a great touch!

What are you doing to me...I love those Lindor balls...you can pop them hole into your mouth and just let them melt slowly or try to take the outside layer off first then....whoops...sorry I got carried away there. :D
They look brilliant and I love the wrappers. You are so clever do you know that don't you? ;D
