This is a scheduled post
which means if you actually see it then a small miracle has occurred
and I didn't stuff it up as I usually do
which will be an achievement in itself
scheduling a post for when we go to the beach has always been a bit dodgy
but maybe 2013 will be the year I manage to organise it...
Apologies to all you snow bound and cold wintry Northern hemisphere folks
but payback is a cow
last July while you were writing about summer fun
I was shivering and cursing you all
so feel free to hurl a few curses my way
I will be able to handle it
because I will be in that salt water and sunscreeny haze
that makes everything seem wonderful
You will note I didn't say sun and sand haze
because I hate sand
even the gorgeous looking powdery white stuff that we get here in Queensland
it gets everywhere and the bloody mutt seems to store the stuff in hidden pockets in his coat
I am actually considering weighing him before we leave home
and then again before we leave the holiday house
and if he weighs more than half a pound more than he did when we left
he will need to be dunked in the pool again to try to shake the sand out of wherever he hides it
because at random times over the next two months
he will somehow manage to get it everywhere
most notably on my reading chair which drives me to distraction
but sand nightmares aside
by the time you are reading this I will have had a glorious week
lying around reading books and trashy magazines, swimming,
pretending to not hear Sinus and Phantom fighting like 4 yr olds
rather than the 45 and 16 year old that they are
we will have started 20 crosswords
and have finished none
taken the dog to the beach and laughed ourselves sick
at how he gets a shock every time a wave reaches his feet
seriously, every time a wave touches him
he jumps then runs in mad barky circles like it didn't just happen two minutes ago
we will have eaten our body weight in fruit and ice cream
and played about 20 games of three handed canasta
of which I will win
exactly none
and I will have been asked for to cast the deciding vote in what will be heated discussions
between Phantom and Sinus over earth shattering issues
like is it worse to have a pickle shoved up your nose or have an ant in your ear???
In short we will have had the same holiday we have every year
and in all that I will probably do the same amount of artwork that I did during our last visit
which I am going to throw in here just to rub it in a bit more...xx

Have a fantastic, well deserved vacation Tracey. Live vicariously for us and enjoy every minute of it--minus the sand and bickering. Perhaps your own beach house is in order???
Here I sit in icy, occasionally snow spitting weather, and LOVE reading about your salt water sunshine, and hope you can keep it a sans-sand as possible, for a sandy location. :D
Enjoy your vacation!
Curses your way!!! hahahaha just kidding, have fun! I wish i was there! :oD
happy SAND, sea and sun to you! Yes, SAND, for try as you may to avoid it, you're in for it;-) OK, I admit jealousy, so I have to rub it in - that is rub the SAND into your hair, towel, sunscreen tube and...paintbrush- onl for the purpose of great texture of course;-)
What a fun and great treat. .. Happy Vacation. I love the sea and the sand. . . I live in a sand box. Blessings, Janet PPF
Well, although I love a little heat(nothing over 80 degrees, please!) and really love a sunny day sitting around reading or walking on the beach(it is almost midnight here, raining & 39 degrees)I have not desired to sit upon a beach since I was 16...many,many moons ago! So no envy here, hahaha! Love your drawing of the path down to the water, very enticing, I must say! Do you have a list of good books for a book club. We are reading "The Language of Flowers for February, but always looking for good reads.
You have more fun than any 3 people I know! And you draw the details of it oh so well too!mhppf!
first.... definitely worse to have an ant in your ear!!!
great sketches....
thanks for sharing your holiday bliss it's made me feel so much better!!!!!!
Karen x
Sigh!! Enjoy the beach, while I look out my window at a thick layer of frost....Valerie
Sounds like a GREAT holiday! :) Love that turquoise in your beautiful drawings!
Scheduled Post sounds rather organised to me... Fab artwork as ever. Enjoy your holidays.
Ha ha visualizing the pickle...you know this sense of haha takes away from your beautiful art work...lol;0)
At the moment the only white stuff people are enjoying around here is on the mountains in record centimeters....Unlike the Olympics hosted here not three years ago where they had to ship in man made snow!! Enjoy the warm sunny days, wearing sunscreen and ice cream!!!
Hugs Giggles
Love your paintings, this is something I have to try drawing things I have around me. Have a great vacation :)
Buenos drawings and happy holiday. Saludos
Oh, the visuals from reading your post are so wonderful...I miss the beach. Happy Vacation and Happy PPF!
Sending you curses of course and lotsa happy holiday wishes too. Have fun and remember that doggie has sand-filled places you ain't even dreamed of! Happy PPF to you.
I vote for the ant in your ear being far worse. I hope you are enjoying the searing hot summer, I wish I was there. Sending lots of envious, snow covered hugs your way. xx
I hope you don't have the 37 none stop travelling across the planet that I've just done to get to your destinationTrace...I'm now having out of body experiences from jetlag!!!!
But I've managed to find you and loved
hearing about all the daily antics and Mutt's adventures with the deep ^..^
Adore the path painting and wonder what lies ahead...?
It has to be....ANT IN EAR EVERY TIME! Ugh! I'm wriggling just thinking about it!
Enjoy yourselves ;-)
...blah blah... sun...blah...haze... blah blah blah....sea... blah... heatwave... blah blah....... Oh, just SHUSH will you Tracey Fetcher-King!!
If we'd have even had a nice summer last year, I might not mind, but it rained constantly! And it is 2 degrees today and it's expected to drop further over the weekend - oh and and also snow. Humph!
Ugh - you are SOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, may be am being a little harsh... After all, you did make us this lovely summery painting to look at. So I can always imagine I am basking in the sun... Oh, okay - you are forgiven!
You did it! Someday I'm going to figure out how to prearrange a blog post. Nope not jealous at all. I enjoy my winter weather! And that's not sarcasm. I love the beach too t hough. Have a great stay! It looks wonderful in your watercolor.
I saw the sunglasses and just knew you were going somewhere wonderful enjoy
this sounds like the perfect vacation! fun and sun...I'm jealous.
When she was little my daughter shoved a small shell right up her nose. Now that was worse than either ant or pickle and hell to have removed.
Have a great holiday to be treasured.
Have a great vacation Trace and look forward to seeing your sketches when you return. Its blooming freezing here and would rather be where you are. Happy PPF, Annette x
Your paintings are great, Tracey. Have a load of fun at the beach. We are having rather warm weather for Januaary, but that could change in a twinkle of an eye.
Tracey,
You are indeed a wonderful artist, nut your prose is what brings me back and entertains me no end.
xoxo
You know it is "but" not "nut". Could this be a Freudian slip?
xoxo
Lovely creations as always ~ Have a wonderful time 'at the beach' ~
A Creative Harbor) aka ArtMuseDog and Carol ^_^
ah yes, it is winter here and dull and grey today, but I certainly won't begrudge your beach vacation-your beautiful sketches only reminded me that before long Spring will arrive and I'll be at the beach again too. Gorgeous paintings.Happy PPF!
seriously, you always crack me up! You have such a way with words - and enjoy all the sun you can now - sand and all - it sounds just perfect!
Love your art here (naturally ;) and in my opinion, it would be the ant in the ear . . . xoxo!
Have a wonderful vacation!
Loving all the blues in these watercolors...my favorite color!
♥♥♥
Happy PPF!!

Enjoy the sun and sand and beautiful sky for all of us. It sounds like you are having a perfect vacation.
I love your watercolor. It is exactly where I would love to be today. Thank you for bringing me there if only in my dreams.
Lucky you - the holiday sounds glorious! Surf, sand (in spite of mutt), sunshine, reading, drinking, relaxing - all is heavenly. Hope you're having a fabulous time!
I went dog walking this AM and still haven't taken off my down vest and scarf. I got back 1 1/2 hours ago. Reading about your sunny excursions is helping to thaw me out. Enjoy your sun fun, trashy novels, and beach walks!!
Yes, it's cold and wet here in Germany but the sunshine glows through your post and has warmed my heart! Hope you are enjoying your holiday!
As always, I love your sketches, Trace!! I hear ya on the sand...as much as I love going to the beach, sand is the one thing I DON'T look forward to for all the reasons you mentioned. lol We're having a very humid day in Brissie today. OH, how I hate heat and humidity....roll on winter even though it never lasts long enough. ;)
Have a fantastic holiday! xx
Enjoy your holiday Tracey, and don´t forget to slip a thought or two about all the rest of us (including me over here in Sweden)that has to put on a pair of extra pants and a thick winterjacket before going outside, and STILL are freezing. I wouldn´t mind a little sand if I only could get rid of this cold! Enjoy my friend! :)
Hey, it worked! It posted! and that is quite a feat considering all the troubles people have been having with Blogger--myself included. congrats! And enjoy your heat and sun and sand. We're having an ice storm and snow is supposedly on the way--but I hold no grudges. Enjoy! Enjoy! :):)
ahhhhh...soak it all up for me!!
xo

Oh I'm thoroughly enjoying your great weather, sun ,beach etc. vicariously through you!!live it up! And I would much rather have a pickle in my ear thank you! Have fun and make great memories:)))
What a lovely holiday! But, hey, you're already in Qld, where can you go that's better?
I'm with you about sand ... I LOVE the beach and the sea, but that pesky sand needs to stay right at the beach. I don't want to take a single grain home!
Have a fabulous break!
As I sit here reading your post it is..30 degrees..outside.. OK I am a little bit green with envy.. heck I am a LOT green with envy and no not green with flu.. just envy. :) Love the art work and the path to the ocean. Hope you 3 had a wonderful time. HPPF
Gorgeous sunny illustrations and yes, i am incredibly jealous of your warm sunny holiday-i would remind you that our nothern irish northern hemisphere summer was a complete wash out -prob colder than your winter! anyway, i won't begrudge you your sunny shenanigans nevertheless!
as for dogs and sand-i totally hear you-i hoovered half a beach out of my backseat the other day-the wee blighters carry heaps of the stuff off the beach after every walk!
man oh man that sounds like the best holiday ever!! Funny thing is, as of today, the weather was more like late summer than dead of winter - not even kidding. Kind of spooky, to be honest....
Have magically beautiful times and make lots and lots of memories :)
NY winters are grey and miserable but I won't hold it against you as I rather enjoy the Australian accent and humor. I'll let it go this time!
Don't let it become a habit or I'll have to confiscate your dog...wait you may enjoy that?!
You did it! The post is here!
I´m at the lakes now. No sand, all fresh water, like swimming in a pool of mineral water. :D
The ant is worse. ;)
spammers everywhere they must take holidays too lol of course we are having fires south of me, not good, and the heatwave days , bad, but other than that, lovely breezes here on the coast, and tourists YUK, cant move in the shops or beach they are like ants lol enjoy your break...
hugz bev
It snowed here today!
I love a bit of sand, but you're right, it does belong on the beach and not in your home.
I'm all booked up for Corfu again this summer - can't wait!
Oh sure, taunt me with your sun and sand while I endure cold, wet, more wet, and this awful virus. Seriously though, enjoy it! BTW, I'd take the pickle over the ant. The ant thing totally makes my skin crawl.
Great pages and do enjoy the sun. It's pretty cool over here like 29 in the morning. Not too bad right now, about 45 or so. Hey just have fun, no one is cursing you for it.
#!#!# tee hee.:)
This is my first visit to your blog. I came here from Marie's paint party Friday. I LOVE your banner painting. I am a tea drinker and lover of all things blue!
Have an absolute BLAST! And, yes, I am very jealous and would be happy to let you have back your cow.
Yes, i am sending curses your way but also appreciative laughter, for not making even a perfect vacation seem too perfect! And i had assumed phantom was older,as i just said.. My son s just starting his senior year here next september and he s 17 already. I think i knew that school was different there but i had forgotten the time frame. Glad you had a wonderful time and thanks for sharing your art and stories, as always!
All your posts make me giggle a little. And I am jealous. I need to go to Australia in the wintertime... Well... Summer?? Heck, when it's warm there and cold here! Definitely. I love the warmth. *drool* so terribly jealous I am!
