Studio Love ...

Let me open with a big thanks to everyone who sent Phantom get well wishes
they worked a treat and she is back at school
which means my sanity is looking much steadier today
in fact I am down right chirpy at the chance to get back in the studio
so I thought what better way to celebrate being back in my favourite place
than drawing one of my favourite corners of it

Just as you walk in I have this shelf where I have these sweet ceramics
made by the very talented Kim Aitken
as well as some pendants I made from my art that I wear regularly
there are also fragrance reeds scented in Lychee Blossom
which smells of passionfruit to me
but as I have never smelt a lychee blossom , then maybe they actually smells like this
either way it is lovely and light and makes the whole room smell fresh and inviting
and yes that is an earring tree thingy... without any earrings on it
but it looks sweet in the corner so there it stays

Every morning that I walk into my little sanctuary I feel grateful and happy
I hear the sweet sound of the tea pot wind chime as I brush past it
the sun always filters in and makes it all look a bit magical
it gets that lovely hazy look from the filtered light
which means I can't see the dust
or maybe the lovely haze is because of the dust
either way it works
and all my paints and pens are just there waiting for me
 they don't make noise
they don't ask me to do anything/ read anything or pull their finger
they don't throw up on the carpet at 6.18 am like the bloody dog did this morning
they just wait patiently for me

I have to say that any day that starts in here is going to be okay
dog vomit and all
to have my own space
where I can work in peace
surrounded by things that inspire me is just so awesome
and I am thankful for it every single time I walk in there
which ties in nicely with the Thanksgiving holiday in the US
and so I am linking up with both APR and AEDM

hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday ...xx

So happy that Phantom is okay and back at school. Your studio is a beautiful place to be and I've been very lucky to have been in there and seen the fabulous artwork in the flesh. You and your studio are a joy to behold and I'm thankful that I can be a part of your world, doggy vomit and all.

I'm having serious studio envy here! My studio was moved back into it's original space in the garage months ago but, as yet, I haven't had a chance to get out there and set it all up. I've been doing my pen/ink sketches in other areas of the house so my journal supplies aren't out in the studio yet.

LOVE your wall art and studio sketches!!

I love seeing all the art on the wall. So glad Phantom is doing better, hope her movie night goes swimmingly well. Hugs from me.

So glad to see you in the second last APR. Great take on the thanksgiving theme, you know how I love it when you think out of the box.
love,
Jenn

I'm fascinated by the colour coding of the pens/pencils in their mugs. Art itself. Escaping to a peaceful retreat is one of the great pleasures in life. Have a good day.

I can so relate to how you feel about your studio and special space because it's the first time I've had such a thing and I too am so thankful.
I think it's hard to describe to someone what that feeling is like but you did it brilliantly plus your artwork is so special of course.
I got the same feeling just peeking in through your photograph...ahh...it does you good ;D
I'm thankful that I've met you, your studio and of course your artwork!

I'm so happy to hear that Phantom is feeling okay and back at school...shame about the poor pooch though!

Enjoy your space :D

Glad to hear Phantom is ok and back to school, and the blog is obviously back to normal* as it features dog vomit :)

That is a glorious workspace, much more artistic than my rather cluttered dining table. Although the talk about sunlight has got me wondering about turning the table so I can stare out of the patio doors.

*normal is a relative concept :p

Well how could you not be inspired in those surroundings! I just LOVE all the art on the wall. And what a lovely idea to have your own artwork made into a pendant! I'd love to know where you can do that! :0)

BEautimous fun!! I love the dance of sunlight in your studio. It does a similar one here in the Wee Cottage at different times of the day.

Thanks so much for ALWAYS making my days brighter with your posts and tales.

Looks like an organized and lovely creative space. I have a newfound awe of your paintings after sitting down to paint a chickadee today on a Xmas card.
Yours paintings are just so happy and exuberant! Perhaps I'm still to tense about getting it right.

I am also very glad to hear of Phantom's swift recovery. Yay for getting back into the swing of things!
