Continuing the very loose food theme of the week
loose interpretation of the theme, food, might be more accurate
don't want you thinking we have lots of food that keeps losing its shape
or hanging out with dubious characters with no morals
Now that is all cleared up
I have been painting up some new treats we found
called Biscot-tea
which is a touch misleading as they are shortbread biscuits/cookies...
so not biscotti at all, which is kind of what you would expect given the name
in fact they bare no resemblance to those delicious teeth breakers
but I suppose if you are making tea flavoured goodies it kind of makes sense
if you are really bad at puns that is....
confusing title or not the important thing is that they are delicious
you have to look past the tea being flecked through them
which is uncomfortably reminiscent of parts of ant bodies
and yes I know what ant bodies look like in my food
I have a younger brother, and courtesy of him
I also know what it is like to have a penny turtle in your drink
a worm on your sandwich
a banana squashed into the pages of your 20 pound chem text
and countless other horrors that only a brother can inflict on you
Flecks of tea like ant bodies aside, they are worth eating
and the Earl Grey ones are just as nice
though the package is not a pretty blue
and I wasn't that keen to paint it
until my new watercolour wheels arrived
and there are the perfect colours on there
so Earl Grey biscot-tea
are on the drawing board
right after I finish playing with the new paints
and working out how they mix with each other
so far they are looking pretty good

Tracey, thanks for the email comments about drawing. I really love your new paint colors that they are sedate enough for the classic Earl Grey tea painting! I notice you are also a gluten free advocate. I thought that gluten baked goods were usually very soft and crumbly?? I only had gluten free cookies one time and they just fell right apart. Maybe it was the cooks first time trying gluten free baking. And as Jenn says..what are those new paints?

I thought my big brother was bad! He only used his be be gun to shoot out the plastic windows of the beautiful doll house my father built for me...and shot at me grazing my face close to my eye! Oh, and he tied my story book dolls to stakes and set them on fire! He must have been a very troubled soul!

My (twin)brother was quite horrible too, but luckily he grew up to be a sweetheart!
Real blueberries should be the color you paint them they'd be more appetizing looking Happy PPF!
Oh my goodness I just lost my train of thought as I'm so drunk on those new colors!! Think I read something about ants in your pants and a brother with a mashed banana!! Had ya going there didn't I!! Not a biscotti fan but I do like shortbread, I think I'll stick to making my own....with out the flecks...that are tea but look like ant bodies...

They sound delicious, especially when they're like shortbread. Shortbread is always good. Especially in combination with tea. Those colours look very delicious too!

Tea or cookie, I couldn't tell for awhile....then to discover it's tea IN the cookie....I dunno, seems kinda sketchy! :) However, for a tea lover like you, I can see the draw. Another great drawing and yep, I agree with everyone - those new colors look totally delicious - can't wait to see them in action!

I have never heard of Biscot tea and I'm not sure I could get past the flecks of ant body-like particles. And especially if they tasted like bergamot, which I do not like. However, your paintings, as always, are so delightful and cheery. My favorite today is the little desserts at the bottom of the post. Oh, yum!

Tracey, you never fail to make me laugh. When I got to the part about the crushed ants, I lost it! And what a delightful little brother you must have. Actually this reminds me of the horror of biting into a bread stick at a restaurant, and tiny little bugs came crawling out of it. YUCK! Anyway, I love your painting. The blue is so pretty. Your brother sounds like the younger brother of my daughter's best friend. I had to laugh about the worms on the sandwich - NICE!!! Oh, I love biscotti despite their ability to break teeth (very well put), but I also adore shortbread...
So, not a tea but a biscuit/shortbread...I agree, the name is quite misleading...I guess they do have tea in them tho. I must admit to not being a huge fan of plain shortbread, however, I do love Arnotts Shortbread biscuits as well as their Shortbread Creams. My sister used to also make a yummy shortbread with icing.
OH dear, that poor penny turtle!! I never had an older brother but I do have two younger ones...thankfully, they never got up to pranks.

The new paints are gorgeous and love the Biscot-tea...wish we had them here...I am also gluten free...but maybe not for long because I am seeind a homeopathic allergist who swears I will eat wheat again soon! Happy PPF!
The biscotti tea biscuits sound
nice, the black bits sound like the the recipe I tried the other day - coffee shortbread you used ground coffee, needless to say they were moreish. My brother used to sneak dried chillies into my sandwiches.

Love your drawing and your new paints. Such vibrant colors. I don't have a brother but my sister could be just as bad (or in retrospect) just as much fun. Now, I find my grandsons playing the same tricks on me that she did many years ago. Could it be that I am an easy mark?

My brother wouldn't have dared do anything like that to me. I was older and bigger--LOL! But he did smash a baby doll's head against the cement wall in the basement and do a few other things like that, but not much really.
That box is very deceptive. I'm glad they are good, though. I always liked shortbread. :)
Neither of my brothers ever put ants in my food but they did wrestle me one night after dinner until rice came out my nose- that was gross!

Oh you've reminded me of a few big brother traumas Trace...like having a pillow placed over my face whilst he sat on me...(gasp...gasp...gulping in air!)

I always love tea at your place, you come up with the best foods. I love your explanation of the cookies too. Yikes, no brothers here, just a sister. We have some kind of 'special' ant here this year and they are everywhere, even the cars. Yuk! Try keeping the ants out of the Sunday go to lunch at church, Yikes. Great art works again.
