I challenge anyone of my vintage
to not want to buy this cereal
is that the greatest cereal name ever or what...
my Daughter Phantom Steve is a coeliac
which necessitates us making regular trips to the natural foods grocer
or as I like to call it
the hand over your life savings to buy three products grocer
Okay it isn't quite that bad, but it can feel like it sometimes
So on the trip to stock up on rice bread we came across this cereal
which made me immediately want to don a huge white Choose Life T-shirt
and dance down around the store singing Wham at the top of my lungs
which would have embarrassed Phantom mightily
especially as my singing has been compared to putting a squeaky toy through a mincer
which personally I feel is harsh...
surely volume and enthusiasm should count for something
but we succumbed to the purchase and I managed to not sing
until we got into the car
at which time I assaulted poor Phantom's ears with gusto
and now you are all humming it too aren't you
going to be in your head all day now....
On getting home bowls were taken out
milk poured and the cereal was declared "Killer"
which felt all wrong considering the Choose Life associations with the song
but hey it is pretty good for gluten, wheat, and everything else free
so wins all round
and as a bonus I get to sing at 5.30 am as I pour it for her
now that is a great way to start the day...
Another great start to the day today
was turning on the computer and seeing my post for When Artists Cook was up
I am contributing to a series over at Dion Dior
and it has been great fun to be part of
you can see the post here ...
and in a great twist of fate the challenge at
was illustrate a word
and this is close as it has words in it right...
so the day is going swimmingly
turns out starting the day with a song makes everything better... xx
If you have missed them
here are the links to my last two posts...

Oh, that's great: Wake Me Up, Before You... Love this! I am just back from a three-mile drive to the candy shop for a pound of chocolate before I went crazy. Yummm, I'm better now. And I am singing this song...! Thanks.
Yep, I was singing it! LOL I love your wit and humour, Trace! Great sketch...makes me want to out and buy some and that's saying something because I'm not a huge fan of cereal. Cornflakes is pretty much the only cereal I will eat....apart from a bowl of delicious Uncle Toby's Traditional porridge oats for brekkie in the winter months.
I'm off to check out your other posts! I'm finally getting back into the swing of things after my surgery.
Enjoy the rest of the week! xo
LOL! It is now going around and around in my head "wake me up before you go go". Love your art as always, and thanks for making this song stick in my head. :)
Yep, you've got me doin it too!! The cereal looks yum, anything with chocolate would be yum and a great way to 'wake me up ....
Had a look down a post and Trevor is really cool. Hope he is still around.

Love your painting, and your post as always cheers me up. But am I the only person in the world who doesn't like chocolate? As mother of two daughters and a granddaughter with coeliac and gluten problems, I commiserate with Phantom. It seems to affect so many people lately.
Keep singing, it keeps you happy.
Yep - best cereal name ever :D And the singing? Would've been criminal not to I reckon ;)
Who doesn't LOVE a bit of Wham now and again, lol! I'm guessing we are around the same age then? The name of that cereal is so funny! Good job it isn't called 'Cereal Killer' else no one would buy it, lol! Great, lively and as usual uplifting sketches! :0)
PS: Did you try the chocolate tea yet?
Great art work.
And yes, that is harsh, your singing can't be that bad!!

Yep, that'll be stuck in my head all day now too! I love the name! I can relate to the natural food store exorbitant price thing as I find the same thing buying vegan foodstuffs.
By the way did you find a way to use gurn in a sentence. Over here in Northern Ireland it means crying or whinging so you could always telling someone to stop gurning if they're having a bit of a moan about something!
Oh yes, there it is, going round and round in my head like the original 45 - thanks!! Lol - at last it's not B-I-N-G-O!
Great song, great band, great idea for your 'word', great post!
Isn't 'Great' also a great word?! :0)
What would a series about artists who cook be without you TFK?? Thank you for being a part of it.
Hugs xx
I'll have to put my George Michael CD in and see if I can get this cereal in the States. It sounds delicious and so much better than Cream of Rice.
It's funny: My first thought wasn't the Wham! song, but Calvin's (of Calvin and Hobbes cartoon fame) favorite cereal. It was called Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs. ;-)
utterly scrumpdillyicious!! love how you tell a story!!
What's not to love - chocolate & Wake Me Up in one convenient package?! I just read your cooking post earlier today and had to smile at your style. But, I noticed you neglected to mention your chocolate addiction....hmmm. :) I'm imagining you starting your day singing to your daughter - just love it!
hahaa
YES
that would jump off the shelf and into my shopping cart too!
delightful post and artwork as always dear Tracey!

OH I was totally WHAM-ing with you! Whoever came up with that name needs a medal, and then they need to employ you to illustrate their labels AND send you 3 bags of cereal for free every other week:-)
I feel out of the loop as I don't know the cereal or the music. However I love your art and I think singing badly and embarrassing teenagers is a parenting requirement.

Finally making my way back to blogland (for real this time ;)) and what better post to start with! You now have that song going through my head and yes, I had one of those t shirts too! The last two mornings, I managed to catch one or two of MY songs from the 80's and felt all great about it until I realized we were on an "oldies" station. Meh- "Wake me up" indeed!
I've missed you, mah sista!
xx

Had to search youtube--LOL! I do remember hearing it, but that just goes to show you how old I am. ;)
Love all the artwork. Glad Phoebe found a killer cereal. ;)
Wow...I've got a lot of reading to catch up on...you have been busy Trace!
Well I was up at 4.30am this morning and because I didn't have your 'Killer' breakfast let me tell you....I'm needing someone to constantly prod me with a sharp implement to keep me awake right now...and I certainly wasn't singing either! :$
Ahh...WHAM...you do realise my son is going to 'Kill Me' now that you've put that song into my head...it's going to be a very long day for him! (LOL) Love it! ♥
xoxo
well it seems THIS post was popular!! I had to scroll down so much my wrist hurt, lol. That chocolate cereal looks seriously delicious. Probably don't get it here but what a wonderful name, AND you get to bug PSteve with your singing, hehehe. Nothing better than that! Love the drawing my friend, SO glad you loved the chocolate. And that duck would make anyone smile, it's all in the feet!!
Hugs,
Jenn
I should have read your post earlier in the day, for now I may not go to sleep with that song whirling around in my head. LOL! I loved your post on Artists that Cook. It was very much you, my blogging friend. It's good to read your posts and see your wonderful art again. Blessings!
Vibrant art, enjoyed reading the post... singing is for ones own joy!
Its been a while since i paid a visit.how have u been?
Wonderful illustration!!!So true, lock up your wallet up when hitting the health food stores!! Do you visit celiac food blogs, or gluten free ones? There are so many out there! My daughters cousin on her dads side has it. I worried my daughter had it, turned out she had an egg allergy! Years ago there wasn't much info on it, today it's quite prevalent!!
