Watermelon Thanks....

It is the last week of the Summer of Colour
and the last week when I will be using a drawing to do double duty
and it is the last week of Winter break
so all in all next week is looking a bit more like a normal sort of a week
which is a good thing sometimes...

The final prompt was a delicious looking one
watermelon ice
and I found watermelon Vans
which are most likely not delicious
but they looked so perfect that I had to paint them
and thanks to Lisa for suggesting the other week
that I should be looking at shoes for inspiration
genius idea!!!
and though I have possibly made these shoes chronically unhip
probably just typing unhip is unhip
but apologies to all surfer/ skater types who wear these
mind you I doubt very much that any of them will ever know about this post
so maybe apologies aren't needed
and I could take this opportunity to trash them mercilessly
for their dress sense and all the long straggly hair
I mean haven't they heard of conditioner????
but Dude that would be uncool and I would be showing my age
so I won't do that....

The Summer of Colour has provided such a wide variety of inspiration
which has been a great push to my boundaries
and I have loved finding new blogs to follow
it has been an inspiring and fun time
though it has gone by so quick
which is freaking me out a bit
because now I am feeling old
because that is what older people say isn't it
time goes by in a flash and all that
very worrying indeed....

So I am taking a bit of time out to say some thank you's
Thanks to Kristin at Twinkle Twinkle for hosting
and picking my name out for the ice cream spoon
which I hide in my studio so no one else uses it by the way
and a huge thank you to all my new followers
and to all the people who have taken time to comment
you are all appreciated...

As are all my friends at Sunday Sketches
who have been putting up with all my double dipping
and are always supportive and insightful
and is a great place to share your drawings and sketches
with a group of people who are very generous with their time and thoughts
I just love the bloggerverse don't you....xx

PS... The lovely Liz over at Gumnut Inspirations
has just published an interview with me... which is a thrill and a half
If you are interested you can find it here
as well as lots of great stuff to explore on her website... xx

So here are the last few in case you have been busy...

Those watermelon Vans look good to me....not that I'd wear them myself. Great sketch!

As for time, I notice it flying by but, even my kids, go on about how fast the time flies by. lol I think it has a lot to do with the fast-paced world of technology we live in now.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend ~ xo

I LOVE those melon shoes, I'm sure I would wear them if I could get them here! Enjoy licking your ice-cream spoon in secret! Valerie

Love the watermelon shoes...I think they look fab as a painting, can't imagine anyone wearing them, no taste what so ever... Dirty surfer look, what is that all about? and conditioner is so cheap, it's not like they have a fear of water, is it! Have a great Sunday... :)

that's so beautiful - easy and light

Well, I must say I LOVE your painting of the water melon shoes! I wouldn't wear then though, lol! Would look a bit silly at the age of 41, wearing fruit on my feet! Another most amusing post ;0)

Already commented on FB - but wanted to comment here as well - those shoes are just wonderful. I love your work. It has a terrific "lightness" - not exactly sure I could define that but it's what comes to mind when I see your paintings.

This is such a cute interpretation of the theme Tracey!

:) Those watermelon shoes are so freaking adorable. Winter holidays are over here today as well. Back to school and while I did not miss the rushed morning routine and cajoling children, I am ever so grateful for the peace. :)

Those shoes will be in the shops before you know it! See, I told you you'd be great at drawing sneakers!!

So thrilled you took me up on the idea. I must have more... Hmm, what can we get you painting next?

Nordljus said...

Oh my goodness, watermelon shoes! That's hilarious! They look just wonderful (though I most certainly would not wear them). Love your sketches! I can so relate to that "time flies" thing. I've just returned from my 2 1/2 week's holiday, and I have no idea where the time went. Surely I should still be somewhere half way through my holiday. And is it reall already mid-July already?? What always makes me laugh are those teenagers wearing those hideous 80s outfits and feeling very original, and I think, ah yes, I wore that when I was your age, when it actually was original. And then I remember how old that makes me... Going to read your interview now.

Tracey, your weeks are never normal. I'm so impressed with these shoes and can't believe you were able to create them so quickly. It would take me two weeks at least!

STUNNING sneakers - absolutely perfect for this week's ice cream flavour!!

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the time flying by quicker - this 6 weeks has gone by much too fast :o(

Oooh, wouldn't mind having those shoes for myself!

I'm obviously late to this party, but better late than never I always say. Well, not always, but it applies here. Great drawing of very cool shoes - do skaters wear something this cool? I kind of fell off keeping up with this challenge but have certainly enjoyed following everyone else's great contributions.

I think you'd have to be 5 to pull off those watermelon shoes but your drawing of them is fabulous. And I love your teapot drawings on the tea bag papers. Guess you are back to a regular routine again. I have 6 more weeks of the summer holiday. And yes, time does go by fast. It'll be over before I know it. Have a good one. Tammy
