Hello Winter Term....

Yesterday was first day of Winter Term
which got a big two hands in the air WOOHOO from me
I was so ready to wave Phantom off to school with a song in my heart
and give my poor tortured brain a rest
I seriously have no clue where this kid came from
and I think there may have been an alien involved
its the only answer I can come up with that explains
someone who watches crap reality tv, while listening to show tunes
and wants to discuss obscure maths and physics concepts
or the bizarre latest obsession of surrealist theatre and the plays of Artaud
It does my head in to spend time with her
but at least she is never boring...

All was quickly put back to rights
and my brain was given the rest it needed
with some therapeutic  pear sketching and painting
and after giving up on trying to get the three of them to stand up
so I could draw them in a soldier straight line
I gave in and drew the drunk pear that kept falling over just as it was
first time I have drawn a pear butt
and was quite a fun angle to draw
who knew....

So pears duly sketched up and coloured
I attacked drawing up some new work
which I will be able to do
UNINTERRUPTED
so spoons were duly drawn up

but of course there was an interruption
inevitable isn't it
but it was an order from Republic of Tea
and I am getting quite the collection
I am almost embarrassed
almost...

so Lady Grey was pushed aside
and I said a big hello to Cranberry Blood Orange
you all know what I am going to be drawing and painting
for the foreseeable future don't you
what a joyous Tuesday Tea....

My last few blog posts have been

which has a yummy recipe in it... just perfect with a cup of tea!!!

beautiful pears, I painted pears today as well, I just love reading your posts they're like a television sitcom, in a good way!

He, he. pear butts...well there's a new one for me. Uninterrupted painting...sounds wonderful. My daughter starts her summer hols at the end of this week...I'm not expecting getting much "proper" painting done for the next 6 weeks (not that I have done much painting lately anyway, but you know, a girl's got to dream...).

So you've finished the APR challenge already and brilliantly I might add...you know Trace, you can go off people? ;D
I'm going to tackle mine today which I'm really looking forward too...can you hear the irony?
Enjoy your freedom...my alien is working at home ~ sigh! ;D

Hugs to you,
(I owe you an email)

The pears look juicylicious, even the drunken one with attitude. I can't wait to see the cranberry blood orange piece when done--those colors are so rich and yummy!

Well over here it's the last day of the Summer Term this Friday! Then Charlie will be asking me what he can do because he's SO bored, at least thirty times a day for the next six weeks! Kids eh?
Your pears are wonderful - I much prefer the idea of drunken pear than soldier pear anyway :0) And those spoons are clearly going to be just wonderful :0)

Hahaha, I understand about children who discuss physics...I even had to help him study for his anatomy exam two weeks ago! Enjoy your new teas, they sound and look wonderful. I sit with strong dark coffee...and love your pears!

So funny about the drunken pear finding herself in a compromising position - butt side up :) - poor girl!

Your Phantom would enjoy keeping company with my little brainiacs - who watch American Idol and practice algebra for the fun of it (agh!!)

I always do a happy dance when everyone goes back to school - you see, The Husband is a teacher - so holidays, breaks, snow days, etc. I have a HOUSEFULL!! And summer is 10 weeks of it .... I am loving summer - but found myself fantasizing about September yesterday :(

Loving those pears, especially the butt looking at me :) Isn't it wonderful to have time to ourselves, I'm still smiling. Hope you get heaps of painting done.
Von.
P.s. Promise not to annoy you until at least next week :)

As soon as I clicked the APR link to come to your blog, I knew it would be a really funny story of some sort!I love the sketchiness of your pear drawings, especially the way some lines flail out to the side. The color is so pure an so rich, love it!

I just asked the Hubs if summer vacation was over yet! *giggles* My two lovely children have been fussing, picking, and generally annoying the snot out of one another. *sigh* The song, "I love pear butts and I cannot lie" comes to mind for some strange reason... Such Pearfection and I'm glad you let the pears do what they will. Pearlicious I say, simply Pearlicious!

Pretty pears! There's been a bag of pears sitting on the kitchen table at work all week, but they are not nearly as bright and beautiful.

OH, how funny!! I deliberately laid one of my pears down and it didn't even dawn on me that I had drawn a pear butt until I read this post! LOL Your pears are lovely, Tracey! Love your loose lines!

The spoons and tea container look great too...gotta try me some of that tea!

Have a lovely weekend! xo

Ha, love your pears. Especially the fallen one. That's me. Not drunk, on wine, but with fevers. Little people fevers. Definitely toppled over. Just let me be. I don't WANT to stand up straight.. and someone has to break the line every now and again anyway:-)

I think the drunken pear adds a lot of interest to the painting. Also like the fact that your pears are green. Great for the APR challenge.

I loved your take on the pears. Winter pears are my favorite, but it's the wrong season for me. I guess I'm glad I didn't try a pear.

Sounds like your child is really gifted, except for watching reality TV that is (grin). But I could wrap my head around someone who wanted to discuss math and physics. I don't get much of that, anymore.

Serves that pear right to have its butt on display since it would not cooperate & stand up!

Your child sounds brilliant!

I have two of those loveable and entertaing, but alien like teenage daughters in my household. It's a challenge sometimes. LOL! I also your pears, even the one that kept mooning you. Blessings!
