Guess Who on a Grand Scale....

I am combining my Summer of Colour and Sunday Sketch this week
partly because it has been such a glorious sunny Sunday
that we spent it out and about rather than at home in the studio
which has made me a bit short on time and brain power
so this ink and watercolour piece will fill both roles this week...

It was just too nice to spend the day in the studio
because finally winter has moved from grey, wet and miserable
to our normal glorious sun filled warm weather
which is just as well
because we are just home from
a humongous family reunion type picnic
filled with people I have no recollection of
all of which are somehow related to us
you couldn't move without falling over a cousin, aunt, uncle,
or great aunts and uncles
there were even a few great greats...

It was the Guess Who game of the Fletcher clan
someone says
Have you seen whats his name ?
No which one is that?
He is the second son of the one in the green shirt
Was he wearing a hat?
No but he had glasses?
after 20 minutes I gave up any attempt to keep everyone straight
and just smiled and tried to not look too confused

but the weather was stunning and Hawaiian type shirts abounded
and while we are on the whole Hawaiian loud floral type shirt thing
it remains one of life's great mysteries to me as to why
the minute a bloke hits 50
they seem to think this is suddenly fashionable????
but on the plus side
the eye popping sea of colour inspired
my Strawberry Lemonade Punch piece
and while I acknowledge there was no blue in the prompt
I am including the glorious Winter sky from today

which was perfect
because I kind of wanted another pattern to go along with the
fruit salad one I did earlier
because the print of it
worked so perfectly as a pendant
and I kind of wanted another one
so I am off to make a Strawberry Lemonade Punch pendant
happy weekend all...xx

You can go off people Trace...I'm sitting in the doom and gloom, soggy and webb footed here in Melbourne.
Could you possibly spare a little sun for us pleeeeeease!
I believe we're due 12 degrees every day until Thursday...oh joy! It's the winter that just keeps giving!
So to see the odd Hawaiian shirt might even be okay, if it meant that the sun was out....okay well maybe not :$
Sounds like you had one of our family reunions when we go home...it doesn't help that they all know who we are, but we haven't a scooby who they are....smile and wave boys...smile and wave! :D
Love the art work as usual. Just the splash of colour we needed today.

Oh wow! What a great idea to make a painting in to a pendant! I would never think of that! It really does look like an expensive piece of jewellery! I know what you mean about the sudden change of fashion sense when a man reaches 50! Isn't that when the brown sandals and socks come in too? ;0)

Beautiful pendant. :) And those works are water color and ink? WOW! I almost can't believe it, the colors are so vibrant!

Beautiful as always! My husband's family reunions were like that. I couldn't keep them all straight if I wanted to. My motto? Smile and wave boys, just smile and wave. :)

I felt exactly like that at our family reunions. I was just informed recently that Myrtle died...who? Oh the cousin or so and so (I didn't remember, either) and she was 97. I wouldn't know most of the extended family if I bumped into them on the street...or they me. ;)

Love the flowers!! Gorgeous pendant, too. Glad I am now caught up. I wonder why Blogger missed some of your posts? Happy Sunday!! :)

Hawaiian shirt? Ha! I can't get my hubby to give up plaid shirts. But then I guess plaid is less offensive to the eye than loud flowers. LOL Also I love the pendant.

I love the idea of your family reunion consisting of folk smiling politely at each other and wondering who was who! Again with the blue skies in winter-still waiting for those here in summer! your illustrations are beautiful even if they were inspired by Hawaiian shirts (no, I don't getthem either!) the pendant looks fab!

Haha, you are so damn funny! i know that game exactly...i think we were on a three-year kick a few years back...or at least if felt like it. They've broaden their product line and there's another game involving rooms/house called Guess Where, I have to stop now because I am getting the shakes just thinking about it..
Anyhow, that piece is just lovely. Have you considered getting your work on Spoonflower? (Forgive me for not noticing if you already do)

Great art, lots of laughs. I can always count on these when I visit your blog:)) FranT xo

Hi Trace, yes I've often wondered why older men wear Hawaiian shirts, I think they think it hides there beer bellies... Printing on tissue paper is great...let me know how you get on. Love the pendant. :)
