Remember those days
many many moons ago
when you rolled out of bed
landed in the shower
and then ran out the door with cold pizza in your hand
and a handbag full of makeup
that you would put on while you were in the car on the way to work
okay maybe you were all really really good and organised and things
but I loved those days
I confess that until I got married
breakfast was whatever smelt freshest in the fridge
so any sort of leftovers were fair game
and can I say nothing wakes you up quicker than sticking your nose
in something unspeakable
but as long as whatever it was
was washed down with a coffee
or if I was a touch seedy
maybe a Berocca or two
the world was a great place
and for those who don't have the miracle in a tube that is Berocca
I have no clue how you survived a hangover
Of course those glory days
are well and truly behind me
and now I find myself virtuously drinking green tea
Munching on multi-grain toast
or some unspeakable fibrous and fruit filled breakfast cereal
and scoffing handfuls of vitamins
to try to offset the ravages of a misspent youth
because it turns out that the occasional strawberry thickshake from maccas
wasn't enough to meet my calcium requirements
and a hash brown or cold fried rice aren't on the healthy eating pyramid
go figure....
Luckily for me I got to pick the topic for the
Monthly Painter's Challenge this month
and so I chose Breakfast
because then I could celebrate
The Ghosts of Breakfast Past
and relive the glory days where I relished in my version of
the breakfast walk of shame
and I can share it with all my painting buddies at Paint Party Friday
because I know there will be some people who have their own breakfast ghosts ... xx
Note to Phantom ... I was never drunk or hung over
and the walk of shame was something I heard about in the staff room
because I was such a good girl, just like you should be
but I had some less disciplined friends who shared their experiences with me
and I am using them here for the sake of making this post interesting...

What a delightful post! Thanks for the visit too.
That's it....I quit!!
OK...maybe not, but heck!! :D hahahaha Another very well done piece of art!! :) Love you. xx
My breakfast is boring as it's always the same, cherrios, fiber one and fresh blue berries; but might be fun to draw and paint!
Yours is so well done, per usual!
HPPF
That last comment to Phantom is a total crack up! bahahahaha.
You're really great at composition! Fun drawing! If I had to cook and prepare my own breakfast, I guess I would resort to fast foods too! Good idea about the Berocca!!! :^) patsy
:) So hash browns and cold fried rice are not so healthy?? Bugger!
I love this. Funny how our standard of breakfast changes as we get older, and there is a being out there who doesn't know what a miracle Berocca is??
Ahhh to be young again, but I still eat the occasional doughnut....a little bit of heavenly goodness. Love the illustration of breakfast past. Happy PPF!
Lovely post and illustrations! As I am now retired, I allow myself the pleasure of eating what, when and where I like. My figure reflects it. I may not live so long this way, but I'm enjoying it! Thanks again for the tea and card! Hugs, Valerie
Oh this is fabulous! Ah the good old days when we could stay up partying all night and go to work on zero sleep and still look fresher of face than I do now after zero partying and 8 hours solid slumber! I love the note to Phantom-I often wonder how folks my age with teenage kids can carry off the don't do this, that or the other lectures when we all did it at their age! The old 'I have a friend who...' ;0)
adorable! good that I had have breakfast already..otherwise I would get hungry now !
Wish I could say I had no idea what you're talking about!! Alas I know too VERY well! And as for berocca(I did combine it with quells...sea sick tablets)...think I overdosed on it once..Can't even look at it these days:( Such a funny post! Thanks Tracey x
Loving your wonderful post, it made me giggle remembering.........fab art work Tracey. Happy PPF, Annette x
It is funny how life changes. My favorite meal to eat in a restaurant used to be breakfast. Now, all I can think about is how many calories, etc. Summertime used to be all about eating a huge breakfast at 3am after partying all night at the beach. It is fun to remember all of those times.
I love your post and your illustration. It definitely brought back some great memories.
Thank you for your advice about Chloe. I am going to see if she would like to be wrappped in a blanket. We have tried a lot of different things but never that to make her feel secure.
Oh my gosh - thanks for bringing back the memories! And it so true that I am most virtuous at breakfast now! LOL! It's the meal over which I have the most control.

Nice disclaimer at the end! (I don't believe a WORD of it)
Aahhh, I remember those days fondly...
And attempting to instill the lesson learned, wrinkles earned, and a complexion less than vibrant onto a pre-teen and teen seems near impossible.
Oh, fast food! :) I remember when I was younger how I woke up and drove to mcDrive for my hamburger for breakfast. :)) I usually had to wait for them to make it because I was so early. :)) Awesome drawings!
LOL! I remember. My brother and I were talking about that yesterday. If I could only have my top notch body and the wisdom I have today, I'd be in Heaven. I love your fast food watercolor. blessings!
Fantastic post and watercolors. I had to share them with my husband (who still loves a cold pizza for breakfast).
Lovely post, as usual,
I have no idea of what Berocca is, but I really wish we lived closer to each other so I could spend some real time with you instead of just living vicariously with you online.
xoxo
Delightful post ~ I have been 'waxing nostaglic' this week also ~ fun post and excellent illustrations as usual ~ You have a wonderful weekend and enjoy each moment ~namaste, ^_^ (A Creative Harbor)
Berocca? I was never a breakfast eater and still am not. If there was something handy around like a doughnut or sweet roll I certainly might partake--not due to hunger but due to a terrible sweet tooth affliction. My normal breakfast since I was about 18, and all I consume until lunchtime or later, is black coffee. And it doesn't matter when I wake or what shift I am on--not hungry for at least 4-6 hours. Before I started drinking coffee, a glass of milk or juice would do. Not healthy, I know, to this day.
But when I did finally eat it was usually lunchtime and I was used to eating whatever I wanted and not necessarily breakfast foods. So none of your breakfast foods seem unusual to me--other than I would never eat them cold--LOL! ;)
Hash browns and fried rice don't fall anywhere on the food pyramid? Are you sure? Ah well, at least we got to enjoy it while we could! Tho' in my family, we have a tradition of Birthday cake breakfast on the mornings after our B-Days- and I'm not giving that one up- EVER!
I LOVE your painting, it's beautiful as always and making me hungry for some reason....
xx

Ahhh, fond memories. There was a woman who had a burrito cart at the edge of campus where we would gather like zombies on our way to class. Nothing beats the restorative power of chorizo and fried potatoes wrapped in a warm tortilla.
Love your beautiful painted breakfast memories.
I love your ghosts of breakfast past! What a wonderful story that you put along with it. Yes, we are all working to change our ways. I used to skip breakfast... now I'm trying to remember to eat. Happy PPF! Lovely painting.
thanks for visiting my blog and ur lovely comment, I am following u now too..
ps did u enter my give-away? everyones welcome!

nice disclaimer ;) seriously, though, fabulous concept - we all certainly do have our ghosts of breakfast past, including (for some) the summer of consuming nothing save Mountain Dew & Coke..... yikes!!! glorious paintings, as usual
Hmm... Do I admit that I did a breakfast walk of shame only last week???? Um... no, perhaps I won't! Like you, I once lived on whatever was still edible in my fridge, but these days I have also gone green (though sadly last week I was green for all the wrong reasons)!
I love your breakfast post and the drawings that go with it! Another marvelous episode in the fascinating life of Tracey Fletcher King!
omg, so true, so true...breakfasts from the past. I was a cold pizza with Diet Pepsi kinda girl, oh, with chocolate chips too. A breakfast for champions. I still have the Diet Pepsi and chocolate on a daily basis but the cold pizza, not much. ;) LOVE, you painting!! Great work.
Great, fun post and wonderful, fun painting!
"Ghosts of Breakfast Past"--so fun and creative! I love it! I used to love cold pizza for breakfast or a sausage McMuffin :). Oh, and there was nothing better than gas-station cappuccino!
beautiful work on everyday items, refreshing!
I loved cold takeaway the next day for breakfast, or late breakfast at work in a roll...your drawing is so good, really sets the scene:)
I still eat cold pizza for breakfast, I love pizza cold hot day old, what ever, you have such talent, i'm always in awe of you,
OH it has been so long since I heard or thought about Berocca! I grew up on those fizzies - we took it for every about-to-be ailment and more. Love your coffee cup. I'm trying to cut back...sigh... but those swirls says: drink me - several of me - NOW!
I get my chuckles when I come here to visit. Yep your breakfasts now reminds me of mine. Gone are those pancakes slathered in butter and oozing syrup my Dad made me now and then when I went to school. He loved making breakfasts... but mostly it was some cold cereal gulped down like Lucky charms or some such junk cereal that had absolutely nothing worth while in them. Love your wonderful Art work. Happy PPF. Thanks for your visit to my blog too. :)
Your post made me smile! Boy, do have phantoms in my closet!!I love how you connect your artwork with things going on in your life! And the detail in your work is fabulous!! Happy PPF!
So fabulous.. everything you create is stunning..and you are such an awesome storyteller and writer! HUgs
Beautiful

It's okay Phantom, I know you're a good girl despite the discrepancies of fact in mummy's youth!! It's okay Tracey my wild nature never rubbed off on mine, I'm sure yours will come out the other end unscathed too!! lol
Wonderful illustration and recollection of mornings and hangovers of years gone by! We've all had them. However I have no idea what so ever what Berocca is!!
Alpha bits and waffles with whip cream were my youthful indulgence!!
Happy ppf....always fun visiting!!
Hugs Giggles
Your illustrations are fabulous, and you make me crave Mcdonalds, even if I don't really like them! lol
LOL!
What cold pizza isn't a breakfast food?
Great painting of the breakfast theme!
LOL...do you think you fooled her? party girl, huh? Nodding head...I know what you mean! I just wanted you to know that I am madly working on your bookmark, yours was so nice that I want mine to be at least respectable! lol waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
Hi Tracey!! you are brilliant....love this post and your amazing works of art!!! you never cease to amaze me with each and every visit!!!
Great paintings! We won't even go into any of my past breakfasts...
I'm all for sugary chocolatey things in the morn. Lately I made a tiramisu and me and my oldest son gobbled it up quick and fast, it's a breakfast favorite. Just have to treat ourselves to what we like now and again. Anyway breakfast is a favorite of mine, that quiet morning time...a time to enjoy something good and a nice hot tea. Great to visit you here again, take care. xx
Love your breakfast art, Tracey!
And the sense of humor in your art!
I still like cold pizza...but now I wait until lunch or dinner. :)
♥♥♥
Happy PPF!!

Beautiful and cool drawings! I think I never have had fast food for breakfast.. :)) But later on the day, now and then I do.. :)
Lovely weekend to you! :)
What an absolutely delightful post!!!! My smile and laugh for the day.
Wonderful composition. The piece is nice and bright. Have a great weekend!
I love your colorful drawings. I can almost smell the breakfast over here! I also really adore your header, btw. mmmm, tea...
This is genius, as always! Made me laugh. I'm in love with your paint style.
And thanks for your kind words on my blog. *hugs* Catherine Denton
I don't know how you do it, but you can make anything look good. Even cold hash browns! I bet you could even make the walk of shame look good. You know, if you actually knew anything about it. Which you don't. And I don't, either.
wonderful illustration and yes I remember those times ;)...now I could never eat pizza for breakfast never ever ;)
I find that Berocca has an interesting side effect... a sort of glow in the dark one...
I always found a can of Coke worked wonders too :)
Love your illustrations and the post too is quite interesting!
Oh, that brought back memories. I had an ice cream sundae before going to high school one day, whew all that sugar first thing, not good!!! But experience, lol. Blessings, Janet PPF
Awesome painting and awesome post. I have never heard of the wonder called Berocca. What is it?
When I was younger I never ate breakfast. Now I do because I make it for my grandson so I might as well eat too.
