Everyone has days that they love
that they plan for
and count down sleeps until it arrives
and for me it is Chocolate Sunday
not to be blasphemous or to offend people
but for those of us
who don't follow a formalised faith
it is a day all about the 'tesers baby...
Now I know some of you poor sods
don't have these perfect little orbs of malty chocolate covered goodness
known as Maltesers
or they are called Whoppers or some such thing
and they just don't match up
but believe me they are perfection...
having eaten my fill of minty eggs a few weeks ago
and not being a fan of the bunny or egg
means for me there is only one thing
I like to find at the end of the bed come Easter morning
And I expect quite the box
I particularly like that this little baby has my name on it
though I have no idea what makes them think that sharing will be happening
Sinus has so many rabbits coming
that I had to put them in his basket ears down and butt up
which is a somewhat unconventional,
though not unpleasant, Easter look
and the daughter is a coeliac so malt is a no go
which I call a mighty bonus!!!
Don't judge me as a bad example, non sharing parent
until you taste these delicious suckers
then see if you don't start looking at your kids thinking
maybe they could do with a little less gluten in their lives...
and it's not as though she is being left out of the Easter chocolate harvest
and she is one of those people who still has eggs and bunnies in August
she ekes them out in a painful fashion
nibbling bit by bit
and therefore just isn't worthy of Maltesery goodness
in my book
So I am lining this up over at the Artists Play Room
over at Just Add Water Silly
as the theme was things around you
and these had better be around me in the morning
or the spirit of Easter may take on a different meaning
and with Sophia over at Blue Chair Illustration for Sunday Sketches
which is being posted very early
but I am figuring I will be in a sugar and chocolate haze by
lunch time tomorrow
so might be safer to get this posted nice and early
Happy Easter all...xx

Happy Easter Tracey! Great post, had me laughing - you always do that. Have a great 'teaser day xx
I'll be munching down some yummy Maltesers tonight while we watch a movie. LOVE 'em!!! Btw, great sketch! Enjoy your Maltesers tomorrow.
Happy Easter to you and your family ~ xo
Great work, and a wonderful subject! Not available here either, sorry to say. No post yet, but our things mostly get caught up at customs for a couple of weeks....Have a nice weekend, and enjoy those little Malteser balls! Valerie
As a kid I adored Whoppers... as an adult their "meh". Although... you put a Reeses peanut butter and chocolate egg in front of me and I'm happier than pig with a slop bucket. I quite imagine that's what it looks like too. Although I will admit that I am blamed for their rapid disappearance from the Easter baskets. There's no proof I tell you! No proof that it was I! The Hubs discovered a lady where he works you makes giant chocolate peanut butter filled eggs. Reeses has nothing. NOTHING I tell you on this sugar junkie rush goodness. I'm horribly allergic to too much chocolate and peanut butter so I have prepared myself with a boat load of hydrocortisone cream. Now how to nibble on the kid's eggs without them noticing....
Whoppers are my Mom's favorite and I go nuts for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups....but really, anything chocolate will make me happy!
Have a wonderful holiday!
Oooo Maltesers are my favourites. Do you get the bags of snack size packets over there - when you get just 10 or 11 in each gorgeous little packet. I have one of these every evening after dinner with my coffee. My daily treat. Love em!!!!!!! Enjoy yours tomorrow.
Tracey you write the most enchanting post, so it is now 7:30 in the morning here and I'm craving malted chocolate!!! Alas,We don't have Maltesers here only Whoppers, although at Easter they make some called "Robin's Eggs" that have chocolate and a candy coating that are quite delightful. You've definitely piqued my curiosity as I am a true malt ball lover since childhood. Hmmm maybe we'll have to do a candy exchange and I'll have to find something equally delicious that they don't make their to trade with you. Happy Easter Holiday! :)
Oh my goodness... I haven't had malted chocolate in a long time. I may have to shop today to make sure I have some in my Easter Basket too. Happy Easter!
wow, Tracey, I didn't know your daughter was celiac, I'm NCGS (non celiac, gluten sensitive) which makes me lucky as I don't have the autoimmune disease, just all the terrible symptoms. I make mistakes occasionally and, even a table spoon of rice with vermicelli made me sick the other day. So sorry your daughter is saddled with the disease, and no malt??? Well damn, my favorite thing after bunny chocolate are those malted chocolate and candy covered eggs! I'm new (6 months) to NCGS, so still learning.
I think your post was hillarious! I especially loved the mental picture of a bunch of butt up bunnies in a basket! So funny, girl. Love and hugs, have a spectacular Easter and totally indulge in those maltesers for me!
Love Jenn
have you tried the malteser bunnies? They have a kind of paste inside and are just to die for! Enjoy your maltesers tomorrow :)
Too funny ~ I love the Cadbury creme eggs ~ but gave them to my niece and nephew and indulged tonight in 1 1/2 glasses of Malbec wine and a decadent piece of turtle chocolate cake with ice cream that I shared with my friend after dinner ~ Now home and have taken 2 tylenol as I have somewhat of an allergy to wine and chocolate ~ so will drink lots of water and relax ~ Lovely illustrations of your chocolate goodies ~ thanks, namaste, ^_^
oh I LOVE maltesers! Lovely likeness!
Great post and LOVE the illustration! Fun Stuff!
I WANT A MALTESER...and if you don't share I won't be your friend anymore... so there! :p
Happy Easter Tracey... :)
...a m-'teser giggle to thee! ~ blessed sunday sketches to thee!...
...xXx...
Ooh Maltesers! Love them and also your drawings. Am going to have to go out and buy some now.
I've still got half a box left.... mainly due to a sneaky little trick from the box designer. Make a hole big enough for only one to pop out at a time. No grabbing sneaky handfuls. Oh no.... You have to shake until the whole house knows what you are up to, then you might get lucky.
Of course, I could just rip the box open... but where would be the fun in that?
Oh yes, and I can also vouch for the maltester bunnies....
My mouth is seriously salivating....
And by the way... that's a very good painting of the delicious treats!
Happy Easter to you!
Love the Malteser sketches!!
Eva
i have never even heard of these candies, they do sound good.
wonderful art of them!
Oh I love Maltesers! Especially the white ones. They're definitely too good to share :). But I'm quite jealous of your king size box - I actually ended up with having no chocolate at all on an Easter Sunday. I'll have to make up for it tomorrow!! Beautiful sketches, and happy Easter to you.
Boy those sure look good enough to eat!!!!! Happy Easter, I think what's the pt of Sundays and Easters without a bit of sweetness anyway? Happy Sunday!
