Sad but true fact that I have fallen off the wagon
after ten years of being Arizona Iced Tea free
I am back on it
and back on it bad....
Years ago we lived in Florida and I got hooked on this stuff
couldn't get through the day without it
and lived in a constant state of sweet tea high
this was not necessarily a bad thing considering I had a demanding toddler
and no real support network to speak of
so the sugar probably kept me going
but on coming home I had withdrawal in a major way
it wasn't pretty
but with support and lots of patience and willpower
I got through...
Until just the other week
when out of nowhere those seductive bottles
appeared on the supermarket shelf
Hello old friend I thought
Nice to see you Blueberry white tea
and I figured what harm could one little bottle do
I was older and wiser
I could control it
but no
one became a few
and then
just last week
the nemesis tea arrived
Green Tea with honey
and the self control ship has now sailed baby
and I am awash with the stuff
open up my veins and I will bleed it I am sure
and like any person with a problem
I am taking everyone else down with me
Steve aka Cub aka Phantom, aka what's her name is deep into iced tea land
and the dog has been sniffing around
Sinus appears to be holding out at this stage,
but I sense a weakening of his steely resolve...
Even the midgies, or no seem ems, or as I like to call them
bitey little buggers are giving in to that sweet tea high
and dive bombing into any unguarded glass
it is so out of control I almost considered straining them out earlier
so I wouldn't waste any....
thinking that means I have a problem
So I am going to nip this is the bud
put the lid back on the bottle
and to get through the withdrawal process
I will stick with painting the bottles instead
well I will after I have finished this post
and have linked it up with Paint Party Friday
and then I will
cross my fingers toes and eyes that Autumn arrives quickly
and I will be looking for warming tea
it may be my only way out...xx

The bottles are so gorgeous, you must keep drinking the tea for your art or at least that is the excuse you can use. I love iced tea, will have to have a look for those in my supermarket. You had me at the word "sweet tea" :)
Love the pics you are painting of them.
Von.
OMG...so uncanny! On Wednesday, when out shopping with my daughter, I saw the Arizona green tea on the Woollies shelves and was instantly drawn to the pretty bottles. I picked one up thinking about buying one to sketch. I didn't because I had my granddaughter asleep in my arms and it was my daughter's shopping day after all but I promised the bottles I'd be back. lol
You have sketched them perfectly, Tracey! Now I know they also taste great, I will definitely be getting me some. I'm curious to know what's under the pretty plastic wrap??
Autumn arrived on March 1st but it doesn't feel like it.
Love the way you write! "...the self control ship has now sailed baby..." made me smile.
Your sketches and paintings are beautiful. I'm with you on the Arizona tea thing, too, though my favorite is their raspberry tea. I try not to buy it as it is so addictive!
They make the bottles so pretty to lure you back to it! You did a very pretty painting of it too!
Dear Trace, i can just imagine you as a yummy iced tea addict! Fortunately I live in cold Gippsland in Victoria so have never drunk the stuff. I have an addiction tho, that brown stuff that has the sugar!! Cant live without it, and wold like a dollar for every time I have tried to give it up. I just love your sketches of the bottles. They are so fresh and attractive. If I ever see one I would be tempted to buy one. Thanks for the warning tho to NEVER open it!! anne
Tracey I just LOVE the way you sketch! There's so much energy in your work. I sooo need to learn to loosen up in my work and not be afraid to "mess"things up. I love ice tea too and I can understand why you would be hooked. Arizona Teas are very yummy. Happy PPF! :-)
Your sketches are fabulous... and your writing makes me glad I've never tried Arizona Iced Tea. LOL I'll do my best to resist when I see the lovely bottles in the store. :)
Hi Tracey, well, who wouldn't fall for those bottles...wish they were in my supermarket...:)
Oh I love these too! Especially the Blueberry ones. Actually, I don't think I've ever tried any of the other flavours, the blueberry one's just too lovely. They only came here a few years ago, in glas bottles and very expensive, and only available in expensive deli supermarkets. But I've seen them now in some regular supermarkets, at half the price. Hmmm I think now I'll have to go and find one tonight!
Wonderful paintings, they're such nice bottles as such, and your paintings are just perfect!
You do make me chuckle :) Love reading your posts. We don't have these in the UK....but those bottles are gorgeous - so pretty - and crying out to be drawn and painted. Lovely pictures.
No Arizona Iced Tea over here. Those bottles are so colorful and all the detail! Love them!
Love these sketches. Arizona has the greatest bottles, but that stuff is legal crack, it ought to be a controlled substance.
I've always loved Arizona Tea's bottles. I could easily get addicted for that reason alone. Your paintings of the bottles are so good.
Tracy ~ your art is lovely ~ am wondering why you are so concerned about your 'fetish' for the tea? is it the sugar or caffeine ~ Don't think tea will harm you unless it is not in moderation? Or maybe you are just joking with us ? ~ Enjoy your 'tea' ~namaste, carol (A Creative Harbor) Happy PPF ^_^ ~
you sure have a way with words and a great humor ! The tea bottle art is amazing ...wow
good luck with the addiction to your sweet tea stuff. you know we all have our little addictions in life. sweet tea isnt so bad. LOL

Tracey,
Love these images and post!
Made me smile because I have had a similar on-again off-again relationship with Diet Coke! :)
♥♥♥
Happy PPF!!

love these bottles! so decorative.
Hi Tracey. Excellent post and great work on the Arizona bottles. We have them here too, but I've never bought any. Now you got me wondering about them. You've done a fantastic job on them. Shows how much you love your tea.:)) Have a great weekend. Enjoyed this post much.
What an extraordinary work you did, as always!!! I love all the details you put in your work. They are beautiful.
"the self control ship has now sailed, baby".... LOL!
You kill me. I always look forward to coming here for a visit - too see your beautiful work AND to read your wonderful stories! Thanks for the treats. Good luck with the addiction. ;-) xoxo
Your bottles are beautiful!
This really made me smile! I do love the green tea with honey also although not as much as a coke zero which I'm certain way worse for a person! So drink up, it could be worse ;) Your bottles are beautiful! Happy PPF!
Love your rendition of the bottles! Very alluring. In terms of falling off the wagon, it could be far worse, LOL.
Oh wow, these bottles are gorgeous and your paintings are so pretty. The detail and colour is amazing.
With regards to your addiction - firstly the beautiful bottles would be enough to entice (I mean its a little unfair really to make them so tempting)& secondly we all have our vices and isn't green tea meant to be mega healthy? So at least with that you're doing good. :-)
Kat :-) X
you've captured the bottles so beautifully, i'm almost ready to go out and get hooked on the stuff. lol good luck with the withdrawal symptoms! ;-)
They used to sell it in Italy, too. I bought a couple of bottles because I liked the pictures! 'm not a tea fan. :)
Ah, Tracey you crack me up. It's not your fault....I blame those gorgeous bottles. And you've captured them beautifully.
Hilarious post and fabulous sketches. I am afraid I have the same addiction but my is to Diet Coke. I kicked the habit once for 6 months but alas I gained 5 lbs and decided that the drink was probably better for my health than the weight gain.Happy PPF #20 ~Robin Panzer Art Studio 33
LOL!!!
I have long thought they were beautiful bottles but have never bought one.
Gorgeous job painting them!
And - good luck!
Ha! I'd be tempted just by the pretty bottle. I've never seen them in the UK... sounds like a good thing!
Must have been torture looking at it while painting. Reminds me of art homework at school when we had to draw a half unwrapped bar of chocolate (that was in the days when they used to wrap it in foil...)
I love your post, Tracey. Beautiful paintings of the Arizona tea bottles. I've never had any. I do drink a lot of iced tea, year round. I prefer Luzianne brand for its robust flavor. Tea is good for you. If Arizona tea is really tea then it can't be all bad.
Terrific fun post and loving your bottles. Happy PPF and enjoy the weekend, Annette x
Painting them looks like a great alternative. :) They look fabulous!
these are great paintings, and I really really relate to this post!
I totally love your posts and i so know what you mean, but right now i am addicted to arby's chicken fingers with ranch but that is not nearly as pretty to draw as your tea bottles, i've never tried them and i guess i should stay away for my sanity....
If you would promise to continue with the pretty bottle-paintin' (and cover the shipping costs) I would gladly offer to take care of the tea-drinkin' ;)
your sketches are so nice, they make me thirsty! they should hire you to do some of their brand marketing, seriously!
The line work is so expressive and full of energy. Well Done!
Don't they have the best colors?? I love the bottles too! And your work is just delicious!
Beautiful bottles, but I can't understand anyone wanting to drink that tea!! Although I bet Auntie Cissie would love it! Valerie
Lol! Your post made me laugh, beautiful paintings of the bottles! It is rather a pretty bottle - I have that same problem with Red Bull now... (very bad habit). Gave them up when I was pregnant and breastfeeding my kids but was really tired one day and picked one up for an energy kick. Can't go on a drive now without one!
whew! way to talk yourself off the ledge! it is great stuff though....and your paintings are fab, as usual...happy PPF!
Oh, my gosh! Your paintings of those tea bottles are gorgeous! I'm from the deep South (Miss.) and know what you mean about sweet tea. Now that I live in Michigan, sweet tea is an anomaly! : ) I have converted to artificial sweetener and lemon, but still love my tea! But your paintings are truly fabulous! Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Tricia
So gorgeous..your bottles are totally dazzling and very beautiful!
Victoria
So funny. . . Starbucks is my 'drug' of choice. . .lol. The bottles I thought were photographs, good job. Wow. Blessings, Janet PPF
And the bottles are beautiful, too.
There are worse addictions. ;)
Heh sorry to hear you're off the wagon again. But I absolutely love how you beautifully captured the art on the bottle, which used to be my reason for buying it.
This is so beautiful- I love those bottles AND the fact that you're painting them is GREAT! I'm the same way with coffee- I MUST have it ALL day, every day.....keeps me chipper!
xo
Stephanie
You have rendered the tea bottles beautifully, absolutely great job!
And your post made me smile, not a very dangerous addiction and I'm sure you will be on the wagon again shortly !
I get so happy each time I visit your blog and see your banner... which always reminds me of my grandmother and all the tea we drank together! You are a beautiful painter! Thanks for sharing...

Oh, my! Those bottles are preeeeeetty! :)
Gorgeous work...... you are a great painter! My daughter M adores Arizona green tea and we buy them by the case at Costco. Bought some iced tea infusions the other day by mistake...hope they are good: )
Fun post , I can relate...coffee is my addiction ; )
Hey eat and drink what you like. We only live once on this earth.
Love your art
Nicole/Beadwright
Beautiful sketches and oh...so tempting! Now I will think of this post every time I pass by a bottle of Arizona tea. I am the same way when it comes to my morning cup of coffee. We get a special kind from our local spice merchant called Kookie Koffee. It is so irresistible, but I really don't need the calories or the caffeine. Best of luck kicking the habit, but please keep sketching the beautiful bottles.
