Revelations and Hamsters on a Wheel

I know people use words like inspiration and muse

and bandy them around like they are the be all and end all

but I kind of think they are our stock in trade as creatives

Revelation

on the other hand 

arrives at the most unexpected times and ways

and usually completely blows

my frazzled chaotic mind

and I get a rare moment of clarity and purpose

and I feel everything shift in my brain

This shift could also be the result of the fact that there is so much crammed

in my teeny tiny brain at any one time

that just walking around a corner fast means

there is a danger that something important will spill out my ear

in fact it appears that more often than not

birthdates topple out of my brain

and you don't want to know what I lose every time I sneeze

but back to the revelation

I was lucky enough to win a copy of the Andrea Joseph Zine

How to draw like a Loon

from the wonderful and generous Vicki Holdwick at Faint Heart Art

and it blew my brain about a foot sideways

I have heard about zines

and seen pics of them

but that didn't prepare me for holding one of those little beauties in my hand

It is awesome....

All I have thought about since getting it is zines

I want to buy more zines

I want to make zines

I want to use zine in just about every sentence I utter

My brain has been going like a hamster in a wheel 

and I have ideas spilling out all over the place

So it set me to drawing drawing drawing

I need to get those skills up if I am going to keep up with the hamster

so I started by drawing my box of watercolours..

and ode or homage to Andrea Joseph and her pens...

and her wonderful graphic skills

and the textures

and the joy and challenge of using pen alone
