What's on my desk....

It is Wednesday which means a bit of
New Year Desk stalking
hosted by Julia Dunnit over at Stamping Ground

now my desk is looking rather bare...
the weather has been gorgeous
and the pool has been calling
and we are deep into that lazy summer holiday feeling
and while the laziness may be also due to
a touch of seasonal over indulgence
the upshot of it all is that there has been little time spent in the studio

so little that I sat at my desk and realised that I had no work
the fold out book hasn't been touched, the books were still sitting there
and the water bowl had taken on
tones which looked more like a swamp than anything else...
I take care of my supplies
but I have to admit to being a shocker at emptying the water container
I can lie and say it is because the water is usually a pretty colour or some other nonsense, but the reality is
I just suck at emptying it at the end of a session...

So....
not much fun stalking  a desk that looks the same as it did a few weeks ago
with the exception of a new tea cup, teapot and tea caddy,
now these aren't sitting here left over from the drawings I did of them late last week,
well the tea caddy is...
but the pot and cup have been used and washed...
they have not suffered the same fate as the water,
which is left over from late last week...
ewwww...
okay so have washed it out now so you can all relax...

so I decided to use that as my subject and
so what's on my work desk this Wednesday is
a drawing of what's on my work desk this Wednesday
No time to paint it, but I have at least ventured back in and it is a start...
happy WOYWW

My desk is pretty tidy too to start the new year....it's just waiting for the next creative attack to make a mess of it all, but for now I just wander by and enjoy the ..... organization! Great sketch, as always. My goal is to improve my drawing, so I'll be sharing my baby steps. Eventually I want to be able to draw like you! :)

Leave it to you to do an excellent drawing of what's on your desk! Wow! Nice job! You are so talented! :)

Your drawing is great!! I wish I had that talent. I call mine "doodling" because it's more in the style of a kid! haaa.

Happy New Year.

Funny that you are talking about sunshine and a pool when it's raining cats and dogs here and my garden has a 'moat' round the lawn. Want to swap places?
Wish I could draw half as good as you - mine look like a spider has crawled over an ink-pad.

Hi Tracey,

I love your drawing and desk layout! I cleaned off my art desk just before the new year made an appearance. The water jars were atrocious! I took some pics so will post soon. I do LOVE your accordion page!

Have a great day,
Serena xo

Can't remember if I've said it, so I'll say it again...Happy New Year to you!!! I think you're on to something...I'm gonna just start drawing my desk clean, instead of actually cleaning it off. Much easier ;)

If you'd just say that was a cup of coffee with plenty of cream in it we'd never know you were growing primordial ooze in there!

A perfect drawing, how did you drag yourself indoors to do it. I was forced into the pool with the guinea pig yesterday!!

My water pot gets so bad that it empties itself and all the extras growing in the water add texture to the picture :)

Really enjoying all of the bright teal in your latest works! Lucky you to be having a warm season, it is wintry and raining here, which means I am doing lots of art! I am the exact same way in the summer, more outside play and less artwork. :)

Thanks for your visit! Now following!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TRACEY!!
Your desk is so much fun - photo AND illustration!!
I'm finally catching up in blog land... so nice to be back.
Enjoy the beautiful weather. It's -20C here today (yes, that's 20 BELOW) so all our pools are frozen. Tuque & mitten time for us. :-)

Its just too funny... every time I visit your blog I breathe a big sigh of comfort like I've just settled into a comfy chair, its your drawings of tea that get me everytime. I love tea and I love art, could there be anything better than putting the 2 together? I'm not sure who has the worst weather right now, you guys in your "too hot" country or here with our squally gales!

Oh this did make me smile. Sketching my desk is exactly what I wanted to do this week - and then the time ran out and I just took a photo instead. Am so pleased to see you thought of it too.

Still, at least I started taking part again, has been long enough.

As for the punk Barbies from your college days - oh please tell me you have pictures!

How I could do with some Brisbane sun right now! You mat get this message twice..been trying to comment from ipad this morning but it's not playing. Then suddenly it is. So I may appear more all over the place than usual!! Your paint water makes me smile, honestly, fell better if I tell you that if I have a jar of water,it usually evaporates before I refresh or clean!!

Ohhh sunshine and summer!!!!! How I'm dreaming of that as it's blowing and raining here in the dismal UK winter. Your post is a real breath of fresh air.
A painting of tea, sounds perfect, I'm off to put the kettle on!!
