Paperweights and lazy rainy days

It has been a few weeks since I have played along with
What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday
hosted by Julia Dunnit over at
partly because I was on holidays
and also because I have done very little
which isn't my fault entirely
okay it is
but I kind of like the idea of being delusional sometimes

I am laying the blame
at the feet of the weather  which in the last few days
has been horrid rain and more rain
flash flooding and constantly wet dog rain
so that means it is reading and drinking tea weather
not sitting in the studio and watch the pool overflow weather

I started doing a painting of my desk yesterday
because that was a great project a few weeks ago and I liked the idea
of having a painted record of my desk for the year
But staring to paint in my orange coffee cup is about as far as I got
and I got distracted with making some paperweights
which I love by the way
but that rain just told me to go
and cuddle on the lounge with the dog
and a cuppa
and Book Four in the Song of Fire and Ice series of books

so the paint water remains
at that not quite science experiment stage

Paints remain untouched

I am still three weeks behind in this class
and soon to be four
if I keep going the way I am

and haven't even started these yet...
though I have watched the the weeks 1 and 2 lessons

I haven't put together the cards and gift cards
and notebooks
to go down to restock my shelf at
The Collective Store

in fact I am sure the only thing I will be able to say I have achieved is
going to visit some other WOYWW blogs
and hopefully I will be shamed into getting stuck in and doing some work

BUT
On a totally different tack
I was lucky enough to win a draw over at

so there will be a zine by Andrea Joseph
coming my way which is very exciting
and of course it isn't like I did anything special to get it
but just so excited because I never win anything

head on over and have a look at what Vicki is doing
I will post some pics when it arrives so you can all be jealous...
The lounge and book are calling...
Happy Creating...xx

Beautiful paper weights and all the other paintings that we get a peek of in the pictures :) I love how you have your colored pencils right in front of you in the hanging cups, what a great idea!

Congrats on your win! I'm participating in my very first WOYWW this week. Wahoo.

Your desk is always an inspiration though puppy cuddles are pretty hard to resist....

Love the paperweights. Are those something you purchase pre-formed to add your images to or did you make the weights as well??

Lovely paperweights and you certainly look as though you have a start on most of the stuff... which means you just need to find the oomph to sit and do some completeing... and when you figure that bit out could you please come back and tell me how you did it? LOL

You don't 'have' to do anything if you don't want to!! Should be the No.1 rule of crafting. Sitting reading, cuddling the dog sounds the bees knees to me :)
I adore that 'Draw like a Loon' piece - am a sucker for anything with funky text on. That is FAB!

Hi. You sound a bit like me. Our pool was overflowing in Spain last week too but the sun is back now even though this is mid-winter for us. I am now five weeks behind in my online watercolour course, but the lessons are all downloaded so I will get through it eventually. Lovely paperweights. Kate x

Showing my poor knowledge of Australia (I know it's very, very big) but somehow I never associate the country with a lot of rain surely that's very English weather.
Love your desk, as always, especially the paperweights and the doodled page and congratulations on your win.

Oh Tracey, it sounds like you get distracted way too easily my girl, Lol!

What a fab idea of actually painting a picture of your desk…may be Julia could have a ‘Paint Your Workdesk Wednesday’….well may be not because I can’t paint to save my life.

Like you choice of reading matter…….I’ve just started book two of the same series and loving them so far.

Happy Crafting!

Sometimes time spent cuddling and relaxing is an accomplishment in and of itself.

Hopefully you'll get back to your paint water before it turns into a science experiment. :-)

Happy Woyww,

I really love the abstract paperweight, like you captured summer colour in glass. I understand that the rain has made you a compulsive studio avoider, it is the colour of the light..it's all wrong!!
No doubt the return of sunshine will vastly improve tour mood to create. Enjoy your prize!

The paperweights are lovely! And don;t give yourself a hard time, crafting, reading, looking out the window - all valid ways to choose to spend 'me' time!

Happy woyww

Loving your new blog image/header (whatever they are called) as a tea drinker it really appeals. All your watercolour images are FAB and the online workshops your are doing sound great. Although from my experience it can be hard to keep up on a weekly basis. Now the paperweights are a delight so bright and cheerful. I do hope Brisbane doesn't have to go through the horrors of last year once again. My thoughts are with you.

To say I love everything you do - your painting, your paperweights, everything - but I do love your journalling. Love the way you do the lettering.
Thanks for commenting on my blog - sorry I am so late but lots of friends keep coming to see me and then tonight I did an English Dinner. Hugs, Neet #6
