A neglected desk

So here is what is on my work desk....
I wanted to have a play with some of the images I have painted recently
and explore the idea of a little journal book thingy ....
this is the first attempt, and while I had hoped to be much further along
Christmas season has started with a vengeance here
and there has been little or no time to be creative

Now I love all the fun of family and celebrations
but
I get a tad grumpy...
okay I turn into a complete and utter miserable whiny sod...
without the chance to paint or draw
so things have been a touch on edge...
hopefully I will get a little done on this each day
which will not only save my sanity...
 but perhaps my marriage
and my whole family from feeling the wrath
of me deprived of creativity....
we all get like that
don't we????
please tell me I am not the only one who turns into a complete cow when shut out of the studio!!!

So other than this....
and wrapping presents
and wrapping more presents
and baking
and cooking
and cleaning
and more present wrapping
and avoiding more cleaning...
and spending time gazing into the oven to see if it has magically cleaned itself...
it hasn't by the way...

I have done just a little...
and I am not sure about the tack I am on with it...
I am sure it will all come together in its own way though, and

I did finish the tiles and string them onto necklaces
and I love them
I can't wait until after Christmas when I can get in and do some more

I have ideas crashing into each other in my head
so I feel that the year will be finishing with a session of pendant making...

and if things get too hairy I can always
settle down with the parcel of books that has arrived in the last few days
they look as though they are fan - freakin - tastic
and could be real sanity savers
and inspiring
and all of the wonderful stuff

So I hope you all have wonderful, safe
fun filled Holiday season
and thank you all so much for an incredible few months
for your comments and time
and for your inspiration and support
those are actually the warm little nuggets of wonderful
that will keep me sane over the next week...

If you feel like you are a bit short of Christmas cheer,
or need to feel alternately in awe of people and completely delighted by
other creative souls
head over to Stamping Ground
to see wonderful creative desks,
or to
for some wonderful posts and blogs...
xx

The journal is beautiful! Yes, I too get a little grumpy (being off balance just sucks). I'm in the process of packing a little creative go bag and have plans to create journals with my niece when visiting family. Remember to take a little time for you. Merry Christmas!

Hope you find some time to yourself Tracey, I can easily mope about without direction if I don't have a plan. usually I like to give my craft room a big Spring Clean over the Christmas break, it feels like I'm getting all prepared for the upcoming year! Love the makes this week, those tile necklaces are awesome, they'd make great gifts. Love the books too.

Have a wonderful Christmas,

I hope to get more artwork done my week off coming up. Happy holidays to you!! PS I LOVE the blues in your work, great colors! Brilliant.

I have this theory in my head that if I can get chores out of the way by 10 (usually up at 7) then surely there is time for everything else. Somewhere along the line a 3 year old gets in and after putting him to bed by 8 it is all I can do to stay awake until bedtime myself! The pendants are beautiful. Hope you get time to work on the journal thingy would be lovely to see where you end up with it. Merry Christmas.

I am so jealous of your beautiful work space! No wonder you're cranky from being away from it!

Your pendants look gorgeous! I can't wait to see more. And see what you end up doing with your journal. It looks like a fantastic start to me!

I've asked for the Carla Sonheim book for Christmas (fingers crossed) and signed up for her Faces course in January (my first). What are the other delicious looking books?

Here's to your art-withdrawn sanity! xx

Love your little art journal cum thingy. The colours are so bright snd cheerful. Like it just the way it is. Know the withdrawals symtoms bug too. Hope I don't catch too much of it over Christmas. Like the lok of your pile of books. I have one to read over the period to keep me sane. Have a great (withdrawal permitting) Christmas and a Crafty New Year. Hugs Mrs A.

Nice 'start' Tracey, wonderful fresh colours and so welcome after all the glitter and red and gold etc! You aren't alone, I get itchy and fidgety without some time at my desk, and...and the ideas that come crashing around when you can't get to the table - Too true. But, you wouldn't change it really! happy Christmas!

Your book thingy is shaping up very nicely - love the bright colours. Whilst I wouldn't say I turn into a complete cow, I do get withdrawal symptoms if I can't craft a bit every day - so you are certainly not entirely alone - far from it :) It will all be over soon enough and we will be able to get back to normal - can't wait :)) Merry Christmas, Elizabeth x #46

Oh yes I definitely get tetchy when I'm not able to paint. Tomorrow I have to pack up the 'studio' aka dining table ready for Christmas...

Love how your have all your stuff organised.

Ooh recognise the bottom book - you can be sure of some good reading in those little beauties.
Enjoy your Christmas - from one little grump (big one really) to another who is studio-less.

Drawing Lab is one of my very favourite books! Love your little book thingy, and I get grumpy too when I don't do something creative!

Love those necklaces - they're so creative. And your little journal/book is a treat filled with your gorgeous (looser!) flower drawings. I've actually been toying with trying a book at the beginning of the year ... lots of research since I've never bound anything, but I'm game! But the best photo was of your new books waiting to be absorbed. I've been toying with getting Carla's book; maybe it's time! And I immediately went to amazon to check out the others and they're going on the wish list.

Can't wait to see what next year brings for you! Happy Holidays

Wow, I love your energy and I can feel your passion for art. Lovely paintings. I agree with you that at some point when everything feels like work I tend to want to break off.. so art and books and tv are definitely going to save my sanity. Btw, I love your books. Where did you buy them? Also those pendants are gorgeous! Ahh, can you teach me? Haha. Great job and Happy Christmas my dear!

what a great post-i can relate to a lot of it esp the whole self-cleaning oven! i love those beauitful flower illustrations and the way you've done then in an accordian style. your pendants are beautiful. btw i love the wee hanging bucket above your desk-did i see then in IKEA by any chance? such a clever idea!

hope you have a fab festive period and get your daily creative fix!

Melisa said...

It's looking beautiful so far. I hope you will make time to work on it or your pendants. Sometimes, the things we know we need to do are more important than the things other people think we should be doing. Christmas really doesn't have to include a lot of baking and buying and decorating. Only if we want it to. It's more important to feel the joy of it and that is hard to do when we are stressed and tired.

Beautiful work. Love those poppies. Love the necklace. And yes, I do feel deprived when I can't do art because I have visitors/house guests. Hope you have a happy time with friends and family and some solitude in which to do art. Faye
