A day in the life.... of Desk

So my days aren't always that easy...
you would think that I could have a bit of a break come summer holidays...
but no...
the one who calls herself a painter
is still up at 5.30am...
covering me with paint and dingy, neglected palettes
that haven't been cleaned in goodness how long...
not to mention a coffee cup placed straight on me...
there is a coaster...
but does she use it...
no...
so after painting she gets stuck into some glass tiles for necklaces...
sounds good until you realise just how clumsy she is...
and how often she sticks things to me...
Rather than using prints she wants to use originals
she kind of likes the way the colours have bled...
but I'm not quite sure they are there yet
and ready to be made into final pieces...
These are small collages that she started with...
and you don't want to know the mess she made making these...
I was covered in paint and glue for days it seemed...
maybe next time she will use paper that is less porous...
less mess for me and less bleeding in the end product...
no doubt there is more nightmare play in my future...

Had a wonderful break while she was finally catching up with
her friend Elizabeth...
and she scored the most beautiful ornament for the tree and
a dancing sugar plum candle....
the studio smells pretty amazing about now let me tell you...
though not too happy that more stuff has found its way onto me...
how much does this woman think I can hold...

I had some peace and time to get used to the new weight...
then home they came and yet more pens have found themselves my newest friends...
normally I wouldn't mind, but I have to tell you the sight
of white out pens gives me a bit of stress...
can just see me covered in the stuff permanently...

then she worked a little on her painting for the reveal tomorrow...
and cursed a lot....
mustn't be going well...
and I must say I don't really care for the language she was using...

then she finished off the ginger...
and didn't even spill anything on me while doing it...
so we both had a win...
here it is...

So now she is off over to Stamping ground to visit some desks and see what other desks have been subjected to...
last week was hectic and she missed out of visiting some and now is in desperate need of some stalkage...

You are so clever! What a great post. :)
Please be kind to your desk and careful what you say as your desk just might repeat it one day--LOL!

I laughed so hard when I read what your desk had to say this week. Gotta love how YOU didn't use a coaster even though one was handy. I even saw it in the photo (grin). Such fun. Happy WOYWW from # 5.

Dude, I feel your pain.

I wish somebody would tell mine to use scrap paper or something when he's stamping on tissue, but no, on goes the stazon and straight through the tissue onto me. I tell ya, I look like I've spent the night with a drunken tattoist.

So many beautiful things on your desk this week so 'he' has no room for complaint. Love the Wedgewood ornament as well, stunningly elegant.

I really like the collages, just the way they are and I like them all bunched together...
Is the Wedgewod thing a candle? Whatever it is, it is beautiful.
Seems you have been very busy and yet you are in for a busy time.
Wishes for truly creative time ahead

okay - tell me more about those glass tiles - are you painting on them? Collaging the backs of them? (and tell Desk to suck it up - and enjoy being just a creative space!) ;]

This really made me laugh, your poor desk! I love those little tiles. Do you have to make a small hole in it or do you stick the chain on the back somehow? I love the tea on your blog header - makes me feel better just looking at it!

Love your desk doing the post, very clever. You are very lucky that you can see the pool from your room, very distracting trying to paint outside with little miss. Those tiles look fantastic, I still can't get the backs right, they always crack. Great flower as usual.
Have a great week and thank your desk for such a great post.

Your desk has a wonderful sense of humor! No matter what mess was made to make those collages it was worth it- they rock!

My desk and workbench send their condolences. The desk is supposed to be used for papers and laptop only yet finds itself quite often the victim of glue blops and paint drops.

Great post as usual Tracey!!!

Entertaining post, Tracey, and am I glad my desk doesn't tell tales on me!! Love your painting and, if I haven't said it before, your blog banner is fab - have you thought of putting together a CD-ROM for crafters using your illustrations - they'd make great cards, etc., with them. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #66

How did I miss this post from your desk? Hilarious! Poor desk, you should get together with my dining room table. He is so sad that nobody ever gets to eat at him any more... However, the good news is that he will finally be used for his true purpose at the weekend and weighed down with turkey and trimmings!! Won't he be happy?
