Snot kidding it gets worse...

Day 11 of Art Every Day Month as well as Paint Party Friday and I haven't quite exhausted tea yet... personally about the only thing keeping me upright and vaguely coherent at the moment is copious quantities of tea ... so it is somewhat appropriate that tea is the start of my show today.

Mushu and Phantom however are not stars of any show today as my darling fur baby graduated from covering me in snot, to throwing up on my foot... yes dog vomit has made an appearance in this blog... just what we were all missing and just what we needed in our day. No clue what he ate, or whether his hayfever just got so extreme he tipped over the edge but I had a delightful few hours this morning alternating between cleaning up vomit and trying to administer the magic pink stuff that stops him throwing up. This requires lying on the floor next to him and chatting until he is lulled into a sense of calm and yawns, and then pouncing with a syringe full of the stuff and squeezing it down his throat while quickly turning my head so I don't get hit by the bits he tries to flick it out...about 60 % makes it down the rest you end up wearing in some form.
He has now fully recovered, as only small children and dogs can do, but no matter how many times I have washed that foot I still believe the ghost of vomit is lingering on it... delightful .

Onto better things... thanks to all of you for weighing in on how to finish of the tea pots... it was pretty evenly split into two camps, with two lone voices liking them left plain... turns out they were probably rgiht and the background kind of sucks now.... tried it nice crisp greens and was too bright, so tried knocking it back with gouache... too dull... added in a bit more colour... just mushy now... may need to just put them aside for now and see if I can turn them into something down the track... Lori and Phantom said I should leave them... and turns out they were right... made the mistake of acknowledging that to Phantom who is now being painful about should have listened... yada yada... nothing in this world worse than a fiteen year old who now knows they are right... hang on maybe there is... dog vomit on your foot ... that is worse!!!

I'm so enjoying your 'tea' paintings. Your post made me laugh - just in relief that it wasn't me covered in dog vomit - the things we have to do...
Happy PPF.

Ahhh, the joys of medicating pets :) At least you don't have to wear gauntlets to do it!

Wonderful paintings too :)

Still think they are lovely, the only thing missing are a couple of biscuits.

Now you know why I have birds, they don't vomit, just poop on me :)

Hahaha. I totally can imagine that scene. :) Sorry to hear he isn't doing good though. That part is not funny. Great cuppa!

Ah I loved your sick dog post (well of course I'm glad he's better but I can relate so well to being covered in all sorts of doggy body excretions! Ever picked up a poo and your finger's gone through the plastic? Yep, that.)

I didn't see these before the background but I think it looks great with the green and not muddy at all.

Sounds like you could do with the vet moving in with you or a while.
Tea..the great healer...and you know I love your paintings.

ok, I'm off to check the 'before' teapot pics! I have to say, I like them with the white background - I love your blog header collage, maybe the background just needs some detail like that, or merely just cropping down.
Glad to hear your little doggie is better, not nice experiences to have gone through to get there though!!!

Had to laugh re: the dog vomit. Happy to hear that your dog is doing much better now. That's not a pretty thing to have to witness - or clean up.

My oldest dog was sick a few weeks ago. The pink medicine was recommended for him. For a dog who likes to almost everything...the medicine wasn't one of those things.

Your painting of the teapots is lovely. The center two - the blue and purple ones - are my favorite. Such rich, beautiful colors!

I'm in love with your tea series. I like where you are going with the mushy look, as you call it. I love the tea pots!

The tea cups are so, so cute. As for the dog, I can so relate to point of funny. I live in a constant state of wiping up some form of fluid left on the floors by my so beloved pets. Yuck!

Happy Weekend!

I am loving your tea based explorations. Do you have lots of tea cups and pots as inspiration in your house?

What an experience with the sick dog! Ugh! At least you are still doing your beautiful tea-inspired art work, that I love to feast my eyes on. Faye

Love your tea paintings. Yes having a family pet member involves a lot of work but it's worth it in the long run. They give so much and expect so little. Happy PPF!

Well, what a post! My cat vomited today too... luckily my other half spotted it first and cleaned it up!

I think we all need a cup of tea now!

Arrgh! Don't you hate it when you go too far trying to fix a painting that was pretty good already? Too bad real life doesn't have a Revert button, huh? I like your tea pots, regardless of how you feel about them.

I've always told my husband that if I am ever on life support and he needs to be sure I am a goner, all he has to do is play the sound of a dog wretching. If I don't spring up looking for paper towels, then he can pull the plug on me. That noise will bring me straight up out of a dead sleep.

lol, this made me chuckle, I think my foot has come out in sympathy and I can feel it on my foot....love how the tea pots came out, blessings, Amanda

LOVE your tea cups and you're not alone in fur baby miseries today- our cat decided to pee on the coffee maker this morning.....arghh! I like the way you finished the tea pots, the white over the green works for me. BTW, I personally think backgrounds are the hardest part of most paintings!

I am loving your work!!!! it makes me smile every time I see something of yours.....Have a wonderful day!!!

Eewwwww......

I love the teapots. I bet you'll come up with something amazing to do with them.

If it's any consolation, one of members of the kitty committee left me a regurgitated food present. Just what I had always hoped for... NOT.

Dog vomit on the foot is gross and disgusting as is stepping in anykind of vomit in the middle of the night. That kind of squish between the toes isn't pleasant. Of course I'm speaking from experience.

I hope tomorrow is vomit free and goes smoothly for you!

I love your cups and pots. My sympathy with medicating the dog! My dog could swallow half a hog in one gulp, no problem, but if there was a tiny tablet in the middle of a chunk of meat - she found it! Have a good weekend! Valerie

I'm keeping an eye on Cody, he started eating grass the moment he was let out to do his business this morning....with him that's a sure sign of an upset tummy, poor baby. EWWWW re. vomit on your foot. Cody has vomited on my bed pillow before which isn't as bad but still gross.

The teacups look great!

I think the teapots may have looked better with a border similar to what you did with the teacups as a white background really makes them pop but, that said, it's really not too bad. I'm not sure what structure you use - paper or canvas - if it's canvas, are you perhaps able to white out all the colour surrounding the teapots themselves and just leave the border in place?

Have a great day!

Serena

Too funny! Not sure how one concentrates after their dog has vomited on their foot. I think a long hot bath is in order. And then the 15 yr. old, well, you nailed that one!!!

lovely tribute to tea, and sorry about the dog vom!

I think the paintings look lovely and don't see anything that looks "muddy." But I will say that sometimes walking away from a piece and coming back at another time always proves to be a wise choice. Dog vomit and all.....

my darling furry friend graced me with vomit in my bedroom today...twice..so truly sending comforting hugs..to you and your furry buddy....I love your tea drawings and paintings... i would buy all of them..they are exquisite!!!

Get Out!!! My dog started puking copious amounts of green goop yesterday. He has a somewhat precious constitution. But one barf and all was fabu in his furry little world again.

Ah to be a canine.

Love the teabags btw. :o) And I don't think the background of the teapits lookd sucky at all.

I love the perspective of the teacups and the purple dotted background. Lovely!

I see what you are talking about with the "mushy" but would love to see what you end up doing with the teapot painting. I think it still has a lot of potential!

Lovely tea paintings and a really fun post. Having 4 dogs I completely get the lingering dog vomit issue and the medicinal issue as one of my doggies has to have medicine everyday twice a day! Hope the rest of your day was wonderful and there is always a nice lavender bath to hide the smell of anything!~Happy Paint Party Friday! #61 Robin Panzer Art Studio 33
