Sew not talking about vomit today...

Day 12 and Inspiration Avenue weekly challenge going up together here folks... and you will be relieved to know that al dogs children and husbands are well and accounted for and no vomit has made an appearance today... though I have consumed so much tea I thought it might for a while there. If you are thinking the title said I wasn't going to mention vomit... sorry but the pun was too inviting !

The topic this week over at IA was some sort of seamstress and sewing type nightmare... I read the first part of this wonderfully researched and thought through prompt with a sinking heart knowing that if there is something that I absolutely can't do to save myself is even sew on a button... it has taken me all week to come up with the collage and painting above... all week and a million discarded ideas and you get a sketch of some buttons on some collaged and sketched patterns papers... sorry but sewing is high on the nemesis list... I admire people who can do it... and know that many people get a lot of joy from it, but my idea of sewing is to admire a well sewn on label at the shops!!! Head over to Inspiration Avenue to see some amazing work by people who obviously don't have as many quirks as I have and obviously have no issues with sewing. If sewing isn't your thing then head over to AEDM where you will be inspired and blown away by the work people are putting up day after day... For me it has been a revelation and I am loving every minute of it.

I woke up this morning and had the best time ever reading all of the comments from yesterday, in no time the vomit foot was forgotten and I was immersed in stories like a cat peeing on a coffee maker...yes you read it right... go back and read the comment if you don't believe me...to multiple stories of cat and dog vomit and various other bodily fluids being deposited in a variety of seriously disturbing places, which all of course made me feel so much better and a little bit guilty about complaining about vomit on my foot. I felt like I was back at playgroup like when Phantom was little and we were all sitting around comparing change table horror stories ... fantabulous...

The best comment of the day award goes to Carlarey... it almost made me spit my tea onto the screen....
I've always told my husband that if I am ever on life support and he needs to be sure I am a goner, all he has to do is play the sound of a dog wretching. If I don't spring up looking for paper towels, then he can pull the plug on me. That noise will bring me straight up out of a dead sleep.....

I am still laughing at the thought of it... can so see it and thanks to everyone who shared the dubious joys of parenting fur babies!!!

I'm so (sew?) glad that everyone is on the "mend"! heehee

I love how you've used an actual pattern to add your buttons to - and how your buttons are so colorful they pop off the page! And speaking of fur babies, do I see the word "muzzle" there! :)

Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such a wonderful comment - it made me smile! :)

Great image Trace. You have been super busy, I love seeing your daily art posts, and reading your blog, makes me smile. Have a great weekend, xx

I had to go back and read your dog vomit post. I've had my cat do that when he doesn't like his food.

But on to your sewing painting. This is fantastic and sew original (sorry, couldn't help myself). Like you, I can't sew a button on an outfit. That's why I no longer wear anything that has buttons. Love your entry, though.

Well... what can I say.... we found more vomit at bedtime.... What's with these fur babes and their digestion this week?

Well, you know I am a sew and sew when it comes to sewing too! I think your method of just drawing the buttons was infinitely safer and far more attractive. Great job my friend!!

our dogs sleep with us, so I totally identify with springing up for the sound of a dog retching! On to...Buttons! My latest favorit mixed media thing. Lucky me I have a ton of buttons in an old tin that my Mom collected. I loved playing with them as a child and saved them for I knew not what (since sewing is okay but sewing buttons on not so much). And lo, they have become part of my artjournal and numerous mixed media pieces. You just never know!

buttons are sooo cute, the cuteness is perfectly tempered with vomit stories but still soooo cute!

Oh my! My cat greeted me with puke first thing this morning. At first I thought it was my husband making donald duck sounds, then quickly realized that no, it was the cat giving me a present. I can barely put cat food in her dish first thing in the morning without retching myself; used cat food is almost more than I can handle!

Oh and I love love love the button painting:)

Your button collage is very creative. I like how you did something following the theme but you made it your own.

We have a cat with a hair ball problem so I know all about animal puke!! I get my fair share but thankfully my hubby usually takes care of the mess.

Your buttons are awesome. I actually really love your style. Very loose and energetic. Your header on you page is especially appealing. I hope to return again as AEDM continues. Thanks for checking out my blog too.

I LoVe your button collage, it's a beautiful piece of work. And so funny how the vomit stories continue despite good health amongst everyone in your house :)

Oh, I do love coming here!! What a funny comment!!!
I would say you did quite well on the sewing front. So far all I can sew on is paper. It's a lot more freeing than fabric!

Sew glad the pooch is back on the mend. The comments had me in stitches, and people kept tacking new ones seamlessly onto the end.

OK, I'll stop with the daft comments. Love the work you've posted today :)

I am laughing and sympathizing with you at the same time. I am glad that it seem that all is under control now. I love the button piece--so unique and colorful!

Thankfully, Cody remained vomit-free yesterday...YAY! I laughed after reading Carlarey's comment too. A retching dog tends to wake me up instantly although, sometimes, not in time to save myself a clean-up job.

Your button collage turned out great especially being that sewing is your nemesis. lol

Have a great Sunday!

Glad everyone is holding their own today! Yuck, vomit is so repulsive to me I gag when I have to clean it up. ;O

Love your tea pots and that header is awesome!

Serena Lewis said...

AHEM....I spoke too soon...guess who just puked on my dining room floor. The positive side - it wasn't on my foot and my dining room is tiled floor so easier clean up than carpet. Phew!

I love your take on the challenge this week...your illustrations are always perfect. I am not going to mention vomit though.

I LOVE your collage, the sketchiness of the buttons layered with your color choices- all great! And we now have another thing in common, sewing is my nemesis as well.....
BTW, my cat seems to be behaving herself now, no more peeing on the coffee maker- for what it's worth, it didn't get IN the coffee, and was all very clean-uppable (there I go making up words again...) I would have been REALLY upset if I'd have to replace our coffee maker!

Love your buttons! :) I am not fond of sewing myself either. I get so nervous just thinking about it that I become bitchy out of frustration. :)

I love your take on the prompt this week, very original.
Glad your all feeling better x
