I do love ginger jars and tea tins,
but to tell you the truth tea tins are usually quite elaborate
and I just didn't feel like elaborate...
so today a little pen and watercolour sketch of a ginger jar
with some fish that appear to have some mutant qualities....
possibly they have been hanging out near nuclear waste,
or a chemical spill or some other such ecological nightmare
... couldn't be my rather ordinary and lazy drawing skills today could it...
nah...
actually I used to have nightmares about mutant gold fish...
trust me that you don't want to know too much more
than think Hitchcock and birds,
or in this case gold fish....
all those slimy little bodies hitting you in the face and dive bombing your hair...
gross.
so need a cup of tea now...
and to work out how to do the draw thingy!!!
Announcement tomorrow peeps!!!

LOL! You should write stories to go with your work - I just love reading them. Mutant goldfish are suddenly on my list of scary and gross now...hehe!
I love your mutant fish! I watched X-Men First Class last night, so it's fitting for me! I went to The Collective Store today as I was in the area and bought a little gift card of yours. I will be returning there when my mum visits at Christmas and I'm hoping to pick up a print! Such a beautiful little shop! Thanks for the hook up.
Having grown up with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I'm all for mutated fish! XD
Seriously though, really beautiful work, love the colors in this~ ^-^

Ha! Mutant goldfish! They are a little wonky, but cool! You are so funny. :)
I don't know if I have ever told you how much I love your tea header. Gorgeous!
Can't wait to see the film. :)
Yikes, mutant gold fish -
love the background color you used!
It's not nice to make fun of mutant gold fish. It's not like they can help it, you know. LOL--thanks for the grin, and the beautiful art (as usual) :)
The colors are so vibrant! Your fish issues reminded me of a time I was snorkeling on vacation and they through all the crackers/break to bring the fish in on top of where I was - so all the fish came and didn't care if they touched me a bit. I freaked out just a bit- I didn't want to touch them!
I read the second half of the post with a Hitchcock type theme music in my head. :D
Vibrant piece.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Goldfish? Hmmm... not sure it has the same ring to it somehow :)
They are slimy, but quite pretty as long as you don't have to touch them. This time of year cleaning out the pond I often scoope them because they are moving veeeeeeeerrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyy slowly. I try to miss but every now and then get one. Or a frog - they haven't buried themselves yet either. Almost december and we have frogs awake and jumpy in the pond!
You have such a wonderful imagination, and I really enjoy visiting your blog!
You goldfish, me butterflies! Patsy from

Now there's something you don't hear much about these days: mutant goldfish. Hopefully your nightmares have long since subsided about those goldfish.
Many years ago, there was a study done in Minnesota about oddly-deformed frogs. Three legs in back/two in front; too many digits ("fingers") on each "hand"...I could go on with what was found. Apparently the more mutant-odd ones were located where more chemicals were being used.
Anyway...the goldfish you drew remind me of the beautiful koi fish that were in China when my daughters were adopted in 2001 and 2003.
lol! I love your mutants!
Lovely painting, even if you are picking on sweet little mutants!! Got to love those slimy little fellas :)
I love the colors in this piece and wouldn't have thought a thing about the goldfish - I think they look fine just the way they are - they have character!
wonderful painting:) I love the colors
I agree... stories and your wonderful paintings are just so incredible...
I rather like your mutant goldfish. :)
I think your 'mutant' goldfish look super cool...love the ginger jar and the colours you used for this sketch. :)
