Watercolour sketches for Paint Party Friday

I have had  a really busy week but in the spirit of Paint Party Friday I made some time this afternoon to sit and do some quick watercolours from some sketches that I have been wanting to get to for a while now. I have this idea of compiling all the watercolours I have been doing like this over the last few months into a handmade journal and then working back into them all one they are bound.
Of course then I look at the whole process of binding and putting together a journal and get completely freaked out. It seems like there are a huge number of opportunities for someone with my coordination to put that awl thingy through a finger or some other horrible situation. It would also involve sewing so that pretty much rules me out. I may have to do more research on the idea. I would love to hear how other people have done the hand bound journal or artists books if you have any tips for me. Just keep in mind that I am possibly the worlds most uncoordinated person!

Beautiful, vivid color ~ love it! I am no help as far as the journal... still, I'm interested to hear others' suggestions :) Happy PPF!

These are lovely, very bright and cheerful. An artist book is a great idea. I've hand sewn one before, but it's a bit time consuming. You could get them bound at the print shop, I think they offer that service. I did see on Pinterest a 'how to make a notebook' blog post a while back that looked very interesting, it used gluing not stitching. I'll see if I can't find it for you if you are interested. Xx

Ha - love that you can't sew either. We should join a club! I just can't hold a needle and thread without a knot appearing in it!
Just stick with the paintings - which are fab!

Lovely paintings! Wow! ~ as for making a book ~ you could punch holes through(using an awl) and then put rivets over the holes (just use a small hammer) and then put a nice ribbon through the holes and tie in the centerfold ~ just an idea ~thanks, namaste, Carol (Share the Creative Journey) Happy PPF

Beautiful tea cups and flowers! They would make a great book. Don't give up on the idea because there's tons of info on very simple ways to put together a book.

These are such wonderful paintings. I love the bright colors and how vibrant they are.

I never can bring myself to bind my paintings together. It seems too permanent.

Love your cups and flowers. You'll figure out how to make a book. Good luck and I'm sure it will be great when completed. Hope we get to see it.

My tip is to buy one. :)) Really, I'm very annoyed by stitching so I just don't bother. Wait! I did once do one journal by taping the watercolor paper together. That actually worked. :)

Great drawings! I adore the colors you put together.

How do you get the colours to stay so bright, mine just splodge into nothingness, driving me crazy.
The teacups are just beautiful, really love them.

These are gorgeous! Wonderful colours you chose - love the lime green against the turquoise.

Sorry I can't help - never done any binding myself.

How can you paint so beautifully, yet call your self uncoordinated?? Impossible! YOU can do it! It's all about learning and doing. We all poke ourselves during projects, burn ourselves when baking and spill stuff. Can't wait to see your success with this...I believe.

I LOVE your tea cups, so very pretty! As for the journal idea, I had to smile when I was reading 'cause I have one ready to bind sitting on my desk. My plan is to do it this way:

seemed to be the easiest, prettiest solution....I'm not safe around awl thingys either :D

Me too! I LOVE your tea cups! They are so bright and colorful and so elegant! Both pieces are so full of color and life - and I think they will look beautiful all bound together.
Thank you too for the suggestion to visit Art by Jazz - you're right - I love her work and am looking forward to following her, thank you! xoxo

Beautiful! When I make hand bound books and need to punch holes, I use my little dremel with a tiny drill bit and do it on top of an old phone book so I don't have to worry about putting holes in my table. :) Never drilled through a finger yet, but an awl would probably put me in danger.

Your watercolors are just beautiful. I love your sense of color. Great idea on making a watercolor journal. I hope you post pictures of it when you finish it. Sorry, I cannot offer any help on book making, but I'm sure there are soooo many talented and helpful people out there willing to help.

Happy PPF! a little late ;)

Nope I can't sew either ( except for hemming my jeans, ha!) but your paintings are lovely! I like the details you put in the cups and saucers!

These watercolors are lovely!! I love all the vibrant colors. Unfortantly I can not help you with journal making. For some reason it intimidates me! Just like you if it has anything to do with sewing "I'm out" Some how I have to feel the fear and do it anyway!
