I have been quiet on the blog for a good reason. Two very exciting things have been happening. The first is a revamp of the studio into a new and more practical space. I love love love the new configuration and it is a pleasure to walk in every day and get to work, not to mention so much easier on the back working at a bench rather than a desk. Maybe it is all the years teaching and having students at benches, but it feels "right" to be able to step away easily and assess your work so quickly and easily. The room is also so much bigger with all the extra room, and I no longer trip over the dog to get to the printer which is of course a huge advantage. I am so excited about being able to get in and create in such a comfortable, inspiring space. Environment plays such an important role in the creative process, and even with a house full of flu I have still managed to get a lot of work done on a drawing based on the tulips I got for Mother's day, so it is working a treat already. The only down side is that now it is so inviting that Both Phoebe and Matt are joining me in there at every opportunity, so along with the dog, it has become a bit of a family space, but I am sure that will wear off soon.
The second very motivating thing which has happened is an invitation to join the Monthly Painters Challenge. This is a group set up by the fabulous Tracey Potter and has six members and we will all be attacking a theme each month and seeing what we create. We already have our first topic and I have had all sorts of ideas buzzing around to tackle it. You can find us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Monthly-Painters-Challenge/216742418344341?sk=info if you want to follow us, or if you want to join us you can find the details in the info section of the page. Off to attack the first topic now. Happy creating all!

Your studio looks fantastic, so clean and organized!
I'm so glad that you are motivated by the monthly challenge. I can't wait to see what you and all the members produce.
It's wonderful to have you on board and thanks for mentioning the group. I'm so excited about the challenges and will be doing a blog mention soon too. I'm back logged at the moment with posts I intend to write. lots of ideas and not enough time to implement them all :)
Such a wonderful time of creativity.
Have a fantastic weekend Tracey.
Thanks Tracey. The studio is already looking a little worse for wear, but that just means it has been a productive weekend doesn't it? Hope yours was also
